Napoleon growled in my head. His anger was overwhelming, and I couldn't hold him back.
I could feel my muscles tightening and my eyes turning black.
I could hear the voice of Moses trying to get through to me, but he couldn't get through to Napoleon.
Napoleon was in full defence mode by now. MUST SAVE MATE!
It's the most sacred rule amongst werewolves. Your mate is the most precious thing in your life. Even rogues go by this rule. And a wolf in defence mode of its mate, is one of the most dangerous creatures on earth.
At this moment, the woman returned from the bathroom towards the place she was sitting. The smell became intoxicating again. I wanted to, I needed to touch her, warn her, talk to her, be with her, and as she passed, I got up from my chair. As I reached for her, Moses pulled me back in my chair. I growled at him with a dangerous look on my face. "The movement caught the attention of the woman and she glared at us. Her eyes were the most beautiful thing I had ever seen in the whole world.
I was absolutely paralysed with amazement.
The spell was broken by Moses' hands, gripping me by the back of my neck and dragging me outside.
What the f##k was that all about alpha, he shouted. What has gotten into you!
I tried to take back control of myself, but Napoleon was not ready to back down. My eyes shifted from black to hazel and back to black as I fought to regain myself.
Moses must have understood that his actions provoked my wolf, although that never happened before, and stepped back, giving me the space so needed to snap out of the frenzy.
A few seconds later, I stood panting in the cold evening air, trying to get out the words.
Moses, my mate is in danger, I finally got out.
Your what now?
My mate, Moses, MY MATE IS IN DANGER.
I turned around and started bolting back in as I felt Moses mind linking with me.
Where is she? He asked.
I don't see her. She's not at her spot. I replied while trying to catch her sent.
Panic started creeping into my body. Where did she go?
She couldn't have left, not by the front door. I would've known, I would've smelt it. I couldn't lose her, not right after I finally found her, I've waited for so many years. Goddess, help me.
Moses suddenly grabbed me by the arm. As I looked up to him, he pointed at a dark door in the back of the pub.
Right at this moment the owner had walked up to us with a vicious look on his face.
You guys aren't here to look for trouble are you? He asked.
I turned around to him and looked him dead in the eyes. I felt Moses freeze next to me, ready to stop me in case I planned to rip the owners throat out in front of a whole bunch of humans who were looking at us with keen interest, eager to know what the fuss was about.
I asked him between gritted teeth: where does that door lead to?
I knew my eyes were shifting colour again because his face did too. It shifted from a normal human flesh colour to an alarming pale.
Erm, he said, taking a step back.
Where does it lead to? I repeated, my voice dangerously soft. I felt Moses preparing to fight our way out if needed.
The owner swallowed twice before he answered: To the alley. It leads to the alley.
We bolted towards the door and threw it open, only to find ourselves in a dark street with no lights whatsoever and no sound out of place to be heard.
I sniffed the air and caught a whiff of her divine smell.
Quickly I started to follow it and before long we found ourselves in a dirty corner in the back of a small road.
The hair on my arms went up when I saw 6 guys standing around a heap of human. The smell was the only point of recognition that my mate was in fact that heap.
They had torn her shirt off and were working their way up her pants, while laughingly boasting about which one of them was going to c#me the most inside her.
Napoleon submerged without hesitation and I felt Moses shift next to me. His wolf was a dark brown and nearly my size. Together we made a dangerous duo.
We ran quick and silently towards the group of men. Instinctively, I picked out the strongest member of the group, a popular type tall muscular guy. Napoleon could already taste his blood on his tongue as he approached him with deadly teeth. Before the man could even react I had already ripped his throat open, ravishing in the taste of his blood. Zack, the wolf of Moses, had already killed two by that time. The three remaining men looked at us with utter dread on their faces. We each grabbed one while the third ran for his life.
Grab him Zack, I mind-told Moses' wolf and while still shifting back, I grabbed my mate and started running back to where our car was parked.
She was a strong woman, firm and fleshy. And for a moment, I allowed myself to drink in her features.
Suddenly Moses walked next to me, looking down at my mate concerned. How's the Luna doing? He asked.
The Luna...
We must get her home, I said. She's not really wounded, but I can smell they drugged her. She'll be alright though, I think she's starting to come to.
We must find her car and get her home, we can find it by sent.
And she shouldn't know about all of this quite yet.
Why not, Moses asked? Who is she?
I don't know, I said. But I can't sense her wolf.
She's...human? He asked.
