Chapter 4: The Regret

1846 Words
"Oh, my goodness." "What have I done?" Bill wished he could stay longer to get to know the stranger better, collect her phone contact and ask her out on a date but he didn't wait to do any of these things. He quickly left her because he was afraid to expose himself, afraid to reveal his powers, he knew he could change anytime with the way he felt around her.  "I should have waited longer!" He scolded himself, bitter with himself for acting rash, and disappointed with his behavior.  "How would I see her again?"  He mused and wished he had stayed longer. He couldn't go back now. He thought sadly. He needed to get back home before their guests arrived.  Bill scurried back home, the chilly afternoon breeze touched his face as he walked away. Away from the beautiful young woman. Away from the only woman that made his heart skip a beat and that would ever make his heart pump and race the way it did. He got home and slipped into the house unnoticed by anyone, and walked inside to check up on his family. After he confirmed the guests hadn't arrived, he dashed upstairs to change for dinner.  "Bill is that you, darling?" His mom called as he speeds up the stairs to his room.  "Yeah mom.." He shouted so she could hear him before he entered his room.  Quickly, he showered and stepped out of his lush bathroom to his room, wrapped around his waist, Bill tightened his lush blue tower, and walked into his wardrobe closet, a room big enough to be a bedroom to select the perfect outfit for dinner.  "No, not this one." He glanced through some designer suits and shirts for a while before he settled for a white slack, a white tight fitted shirt, a navy blue blazer, and a brown designer shoe to compliment his dressing. After he dressed up, he walked to the mirror to comb his hair and spray one of his favorite cologne. Dazzled with his wild thoughts of the strange woman he met earlier, Bill stared at himself in the mirror, and all he could see is the honey-colored hair woman. Instantly, he got an erection from the thought of her, Bill pushed his fingers in his hair, frustrated with himself for his erotic thoughts.  The thought of the beautiful young woman disturbs his mind, he turned away from the mirror, a smile plastered on his face as he left his room to go downstairs for dinner. He walked swiftly into the dining room, hands in his pocket, Bill expected to see his family and the guests in the room for dinner but no one was in the room.  "Where the heck is everyone?" The dining room stared back at him, empty but spotless with exquisite detail insight. Bill smiled as he studied the perfectly painted rooms, with white walls, while one side of the room wall stood out with a shimmering golden brown wallpaper, and in the middle of the dining exquisitely designed oak table, hanged an expensive chandelier bulb lighted to illuminate the beauty of the room.  And down the center of the table is a runner with the Celtic design woven in golden brown and white in the fabric. The left door to his left leads to the patio with a floor to ceiling french door. Bill didn't miss the polished expensive silver cutlery that glowed in the late afternoon light, as light seeped through the widely opened curtain. On the table stood tall empty wine glasses and beautifully folded handcrafted napkins to match the runner on the table. The setting of the dining room brought delights to his thought, he wished he invited the strange, beautiful woman to dinner. Lost him in thought, Bill stood in the middle of the dining room with his hands in his trouser pocket as his mind did a flashback to the passionate kiss he had with the beautiful woman in the car. At that moment, he felt the tightening in his trouser and instinctively Bill reached up to touch his lips; he needed to feel her again.  "I need you right here with me." His mind and senses spiraled in a zigzag pattern and Bill wanted so much to see her again.  "Are you alright?"  The soft voice of his mom brought him out of his reverie, jolted, he swirled to the right and turned to see his mother walked into the room, followed by the housekeeper.  Bill turned to face her, his face pale and drawn from regret, but quickly he changed his look and feign a smile on his face. He regretted that he left the woman the way he did and wished he could turn around the hand of time.  "He should have asked her out on a date." He mused, and sadness reflected on his face even though, he tried to hide it from his mother. "Hmm..." He sighed as he greeted his mother.  "Mother, you look fabulous!" "Are you okay Bill?" Victoria asked her son, she had stayed longer by the door to study her son before she made her presence known to him. She noticed that he looks worried, and immediately she panicked, her face drawn together as alarm bells rang in her head. Bill forced himself to focus on his mother, he pushed the misery he felt for leaving the woman the way he did to the back of his mind.  With a bright smile plastered on his face, he moved closer to his mother, held his hands up to draw her in his arms, and hugged her. "Am good, mom. I am just overwhelmed by all the exotic and spicy dishes you made for dinner."  He teased her, his best smile still glued to his face. Bill knows his mother's intuitive traits, she wouldn't give him a moment of rest if he heard what he had to say about the strange woman he met earlier. So, he avoided mentioning anything that related to his earlier encounter and teased his mother instead.  Victoria sensed there was more to what Bill told her, she knew her son very well and believe there's something he didn't want her to know. So when Bill touched her arm, she playfully hit his hand away and gave him her meanest look, as she tried not to smile.  "Don't you dare change the subject, Bill?" "I know you too well." She warmed him, as she searched his face for answers. Bill was silent for a while to study his mother, he didn't dare look away so he wouldn't give her reason to pursue the topic. "I will be fine mom."  Finally, he spoke, he told her half of the truth; he knew his mother won't accept the explanation but said the best thing that came to his mind, with a small smile displayed on his face.  He doesn't even believe himself. Bill strode away from his mother's presence as a sudden strange aura enveloped him. Adrenaline rushed through his veins as he paced in anticipation of the dinner with the governor and his family. Unknown to him, dinner with the guest will change his life.  The sudden aura that enveloped him intensified and before he could do anything about it, his eyes change, the pupil turned to white, and he growled loud to his dismay. He didn't know what came over him, he couldn't control the sudden desire that took over his body, it was as if he could feel and sense the honey hair woman close by. What he felt at that moment, mirrored what he felt when he was with her earlier. Instantly, he shook his head and cleared his thought as he tried to push the woman's image to the back of his head.  "It must be my anxiety!" "I am sure that the thought of longing to be with her again is messing with my head."  Bill thought, angry with himself for his moment of weakness. He was about to walk out of the room when he remembered dinner, so he turned, smiled, and asked about the guests. "How're the guests?" "Do they decide not to turn up?"  Bill asked, sheepish, while he teased his mothers, afterwards, he turned and walk out of the room. He was about to step out of the door when his mother's words stopped him.  "How was your run son?"  Bill stopped in his tracks before he could leave the room, he paused briefly to compose his face before he turned with smiles on his face but Victoria didn't miss the sudden change in his mood.  "I feel refreshed, mom." He told her, praying she would take the hint and stop questioning him.  With a wide grin on his face, he changed the topic again. "Our guests might arrive at any moment from now." Victoria hesitated, she wanted to know the reason for her son's change of mood but on second thoughts Victoria dropped the topic and responded to Bill's last statement.  "Our guest, your brothers, and dad are in the patio."  She told him, while her hand pointed at the french door that leads to the patio.  "Oh, really!"  Bill chuckled, a smirk at the corner of his mouth, he turned towards the french door that leads to the patio and walked away from his mother.  As soon as he opened the fresh door, Bill froze, his smile disappeared, as he stopped in his stride. Few feet away from the french door in the patio, stood a beautiful woman poised on the arm of his brother. His heart skipped a beat, wide-eyed he stared, his mouth opened, but no sound came out of it. In front of him stood the most beautiful woman, the stranger he met several minutes ago, and who refused to leave his mind and heart. She stood too close for comfort in the arms of his brother, his dream woman.   The same stranger that made him so tensed with desire, Bill looked on, and adrenaline rushed through his blood and into his head and made him dazed from shock.  "That is the woman I kissed a few minutes ago!" "Is my eyes playing tricks on me?" Bill rubbed his eyes with his hands, he didn't believe what he just saw and desperately wish it wasn't a dream. Heart racing, he closed his eyes for a moment and when he opened it, the sweet smell of the woman assailed his senses. He couldn't believe his eyes and luck, he felt terrible though instead of being happy as he watched the closeness of his brother and his dream woman.  “Why is she in his brother's arms, smiling sweetly and looking at him with so much adoration?”  Bill clutched his heart as he felt a sharp pain there, stricken by the closeness of the strange woman and his brother.  "Oh, Great!" "No. No, no..." "This can't be!" "That must be Derrick's girlfriend!"  He muttered, his voice strange to his own ears, as he raised his two hands to his head in a moment of madness, he forgot anyone could see him like that because he didn't care. It was as if his most prized possession got hijacked from him, Bill stood frozen, his eyes glimmered with unshed tears as he watched the woman. He noticed how peaceful and happy she seemed in his brother's arm and he felt the pain in his heart again.
