I opened my eyes when I heard familiar, soft whimpers. A crib was beside my bed, and even though I was still fuzzy, I perfectly recognized the baby squirming inside.
“Dila…” I pushed myself up, wanting nothing but to hold her. My whole body ached, but I kept going until I was able to stand.
It’s real this time. Dila is really here. I picked her up as gently as I could, and she quickly stopped crying.
