My eyes felt heavy, but I still forced myself to open them, only to be attacked by the lights. I squinted my eyes while trying to move my body and failing miserably. It’s like I haven’t moved in years, which was a terrifying thought.
“Kara? Kara you’re awake!”
I lightly flinched in surprise, but Luigi’s worried voice brought waves of memory back to me. The blood moon, vampires missing… and Gideon attacking me. Suddenly, I was able to get up from the bed even before he could approach me.
He looked mortified that I stood but had no time for myself. “My baby, is my baby’s alright?”
“Kara, you shouldn’t be up. You’re still recovering.”
I grabbed on Luigi’s sleeve, pulling him close with pure desperation. “Please answer me. How is my baby?”
