Rebecca moved into Nico's condo two weeks later, one week before the wedding. He offered to pay for a moving company, but she'd laughed. “Everything I own I can fit into a few suitcases," she said ruefully. “I have clothes and toiletries, my laptop, some books, and a few other odds and ends." “Oh," he said, embarrassed. He hadn't meant to dredge up memories of losing her possessions after she'd had to downsize from an apartment to a single room. “Right." He insisted on driving over to her place with his 4Runner and loading her suitcases into the SUV.
