Natalie’s POV.
I had ran as fast as my legs could carry me when I heard the husky voice behind me.
I didn’t need a soothsayer to tell me that it was the guard, so instead of staying back to explain myself—
I ran….as fast as my legs could carry me, without looking back.
That was it—
They were gone, and that was when I noticed that I was lost inside the forest….
I had ran without even looking at the place I was going, and now I was lost—
It wasn’t like I had any place in mind to go, but at least— if no one was pursuing me, I’d have taken my time to choose my path well.
Suddenly, the chirping of insects, and howling of werewolves from afar were the only noises heard in the forest.
“What have I done?” I asked myself as I slowly began to regret my actions.
“Why did I leave in the first place?” I looked around with fear written on my face.
I began to hear noises—noises that made me know that there were wild animals in that forest with me.
The main reason why I was scared was because I didn’t have the opportunity to defend myself from any harm.
“I was an Omega—” I repeated this to myself, as I walked through the forest.
Almost immediately, I heard noises—
But this time around, it was different….
People were conversing among themselves—
I followed their noises, but Lo and Behold—I couldn’t believe my eyes.
There was a gateway and a large border—with two hefty guards standing at the front of it….
I hid behind a tree and watched their movements, and I quickly decided within me to start living there—among them.
Quickly, I saw a lady who was like my age walk pass the guards without them stopping her—
The same thing happened to a young girl, and when hey didn’t try to stop her—I concluded within myself to go in.
Taking two steps forward, my heart beat increased and I cussed silently.
“Calm down,” I said to myself as I took two deep breaths before walking towards the gate.
Just as I had thought, they didn’t stop me or try to pursue me—
“At least they’re better than the people of my city,” I said to myself, remembering how those guards gave me a hot chase.
After crossing the gate, I was met with a higher challenge.
“Where would I stay?”
“How would I live and survive?”
I was still thinking when I saw a child who was still learning how to walk, walk towards a fire and was about touching it when I screamed.
“No!!” I ran as fast as my legs could carry me, sweeping the child off the ground.
“Do you want to harm yourself?” I asked the baby calmly, admiring the little child’s face.
After carrying the child for a while, I looked around for the mother—and was shocked no one came to claim the child.
Still lost in thoughts, I heard a cry from afar.
Allowing my curiosity to get the best of me, I walked towards the direction of the cry with the child in my arms, and to my amazement—she was looking for her daughter.....
“Is this your child, ma?” I asked, getting on my knees as I stretched forth the child for her to have a better glimpse of the baby.
She crawled towards me and her eyes widened in excitement—
“My child!” She exclaimed excitedly, carrying the child from my arms.
The child wasn’t left out, as she giggled excitedly.
A wide smile appeared on my lips as I watched the reunion between the mother and the child.
At least, I was happy that I was able to do something good for both mother and child….
“How did you see her?” The woman said, getting to her feet.
At that time, the crowd had dispersed—it was just us.....
I explained everything to her, from when I saw the child trying to walk towards the fire and the woman gasped.
“You’re really a nice woman with a beautiful soul—” She said, and I smiled lightly.
“Thank you,” I said, and turned to leave when she called me back.
“Where do you stay?” She asked me, and my eyes widened.
I wasn’t so sure about opening up to a total stranger I just met—but I wasn’t good at telling a lie, so I decided to open up.
“I don’t have a house, and I’m having troubles locating where I’d stay for the night,” I said, and she sighed.
“You can come stay with me—this is the least I could do for you,” She said, and I became excited.....
“Thanks a lot ma, by tomorrow I’d be able to come up with something….” I said with a tone of gratitude, but she shook her head almost immediately.
“You can come stay with me—but not for the night, instead for as long you wish you stay,” She said and my eyes widened.
“What?” I exclaimed in shock.
“Yes, I’m a widow with a child—at least I’m sure we’ll enjoy each other’s company,” She said and I nodded happily.
“Thanks a lot, ma,” I said and engulfed in a hug, making sure I didn’t suffocate the child.
“You won’t understand—I’ve lost my husband before, so I was scared of losing my child again,” She said, and I sighed, “Nothing would happen,” I said, and she flashed me a beautiful smile.
“Come on, let’s go,” She said and that was it—
My major challenge was solved—
I had this feeling within me—feeling of acceptance….
For the first time in how many years—I felt accepted in someone’s life and household.
She also said that I was a nice lady, when all I’ve heard my whole life was how bad of a person I am—
We were in our way home, when he appeared before me—-
“Hey you!” He called loudly, loud enough to make me wonder if he was calling someone behind me.
“You on black!” He said, and I quickly glanced around and was shocked, to figure out that I was the only one on black.
“Me?!”
