Chapter 1: The Destiny

1412 Words
They say that the people whom fate has written into each other’s destiny are bound to meet, no matter how different they are or how far apart they may be. And it was absolutely true, because something very similar was about to happen in the lives of Shaurya Singhania and Helari Dhanvani. So, this story begins in a small city called Gwalior. There was a sweet little home where a girl lived with her parents. She was their only child, so naturally, she was the apple of their eyes and was deeply pampered and loved. At 10 in the morning, a 48-year-old woman was preparing food in the kitchen. She called out, “Helari beta, come here.” She immediately heard a reply, “Coming, Maa.” A beautiful 25-year-old girl walked into the kitchen. She had a fair complexion, a short height, a chubby face, and big expressive eyes. This was Helari. She went up to her mother in the kitchen and asked, “Yes, Maa? What happened?” Her mother, Bharti, handed her a plate and said, “Here, take this breakfast to your father, and then you have yours too.” Helari took the plate from her mother and went to give it to her father. Her father, who was around 53 years old, was sitting in the room listening to the radio. As Helari handed him his breakfast, she said, “Here, Papa. Have your breakfast.” Her father looked at her and smiled. “I’ll eat only when our princess sits and eats with me.” Hearing this, Helari smiled. Her father always called her his princess. “Yes, Papa. I’ll bring mine right away.” She went back and brought her own breakfast as well. Then, her father gave her the very first bite of his food. After eating it, Helari asked him, “Papa, why do you always feed me the first bite?” Her father smiled and replied, “Because you are our Lakshmi, our good fortune. That’s why. It is believed that feeding your daughter the first bite makes your luck shine even brighter.” Just then, Helari’s mother also came over and fed her the first bite herself. Being their only child, Helari was immensely loved, cherished, and pampered by her parents. On the other hand, in a very upscale area of Delhi stood a huge mansion—the biggest mansion in all of Delhi. Outside, on the nameplate, the words “Singhania’s Mansion” were engraved in golden letters. There was a massive gate guarded by several security guards. Inside was an enormous garden with a beautiful fountain, and there was a guard stationed at every corner. Beyond the garden stood the grand mansion, designed in elegant off-white and golden shades.Inside the mansion, a 51-year-old woman dressed in a regal Banarasi saree turned to the main house helper, Reema, and asked, “Did Shaurya not come home last night either?” “No, Anamika Madam. Shaurya Sir didn’t come home last night either.” Hearing this, Anamika sighed sadly and said, “What am I supposed to do with this boy? As a mother, all I want is to see his home settled. I want to see him happy with his life partner. But he rejects every girl we introduce to him, and on top of that, he doesn’t even want to listen to anything, Things have gotten so bad that the moment I bring up marriage, he simply stops coming home. He knew I was going to introduce him to a girl, and look—he didn’t come home at all last night. I had to lie to those people and make an excuse to cancel the meeting.” Reema looked at Anamika and said, “Don’t worry, Madam. Just wait and see. One day, Shaurya Sir will definitely fall in love with someone. And when that happens, not only will he get married, but you’ll even get to hold his children in your arms.” Anamika smiled faintly and said, “I wish every word you just said would come true.” Just then, another woman entered the room. She was around 74 years old, yet she was remarkably fit and graceful. She was dressed in a beautiful Banarasi silk saree. Her hair was completely white, a large red bindi adorned her forehead, and golden bangles covered her wrists. Looking at Anamika, she said, “Your son won’t let you become a grandmother, nor will he let me become a great-grandmother. When Shaurya was born, I had always imagined that one day I would surely become a great-grandmother to his children. But now, it feels as though I won’t even live long enough to see that day. I’ll probably leave this world before it ever happens.” Anamika immediately said to her, “Why do you talk like that, Maa? God will surely listen to our prayers. He will make that stone-cold heart of this boy melt for someone, at least.” Just then, a 56-year-old man walked in. He was 6 feet tall, slightly dark-complexioned, masculine, and bearded. Looking at Anamika, he asked, “Where is your son? Is he going to come home today or not?” Anamika looked at him and said, “You’re his father. You call him and tell him to come home.” The man scoffed and replied, “If he ever listened to me, he wouldn’t have turned out this spoiled in the first place.” Hearing this, Anamika’s mother-in-law, Maya Devi, laughed and said, “Why, Shiv Singhania? I used to tell you, didn’t I? Even a lion like you would one day meet someone stronger than himself. Look at you now—you used to rule over everyone, but today, even your own son doesn’t listen to you. Now you must understand how it feels.” Just then, a 78-year-old man entered the room. He was dressed in a white dhoti-kurta, with a red tilak on his forehead. He said, “Shaurya may not listen to his father, but he will certainly listen to his father’s father. Bring me the phone. I’ll talk to him. My boy would never refuse his grandfather.” With that, he picked up the phone and called Shaurya. Meanwhile, somewhere else stood a massive glass building, shining so brightly that just looking all the way up to its top could make your neck hurt. On the 34th floor was a nameplate that read: Shaurya Singhania (CEO) The doors opened to reveal an enormous office. Sitting in a king-sized chair was a 30-year-old man—fair-skinned, 6'2" tall, masculine, with a perfectly groomed beard, slightly green and dangerously intense eyes, a sharp jawline, and an unreadable expression. He was dressed entirely in a black tuxedo. Just then, his phone started ringing. It was his grandfather, Raghunath Singhania. “Shaurya, you’re coming home today. And that too within an hour.” Shaurya replied, “I don’t want to come, but I can’t refuse you. So, Dada, I’ll come home. But please make it clear to Dadi and my mother that they don’t need to show me the alliance of some random girl again.” Raghunath replied from the other end, “Fine. We won’t show you the alliance of any random girl again. Now come home.” Shaurya ended the call. Just then, the man standing beside him—his most trusted and closest aide, Kabir Chauhan—asked, “Sir, forgive me if I’m crossing a line, but why don’t you want to get married?” Shaurya looked at him and replied, “I don’t want to make just anyone such an important part of my life. Not when I already know that every girl I’ve met so far has never loved me for who I am. They’ve only fallen for my money, my status, or my looks.“The day I meet someone who has no interest in my money, my status, or even my looks—someone who simply wants me for me—that will be the woman I’ll make my wife. “Otherwise, I’ll never make anyone my wife.” Everything about Shaurya and Helari was different. But there was one thing they had in common.Their love and devotion for Mahadev. If there was anyone in this world whom both of them loved more than anyone else, it was their Mahadev. And perhaps, that was exactly why Mahadev had already decided to bring their destinies together. ...........................................................................
