The front door hung from its hinges. Sienna stared at the man standing in the doorway. Ronan. The Alpha who had murdered her grandmother. The man who had taken her mother. For a moment, nobody moved. Then Jackson stepped in front of Sienna. "Ronan." Ronan smiled. "Jackson." His silver eyes moved past him. Straight to Sienna. "She really is beautiful." Jackson's growl filled the room. "Don't look at her." Ronan laughed. "Still protective, I see." Sienna stepped around Jackson. "I'm coming for my mum." Ronan's smile widened. "I know." "Where is she?" "Safe." "Let me see her." "Not yet." Sienna's hands clenched. "Then why are you here?" Ronan's expression suddenly became serious. "Because there are things you need to know before you decide who your enemy really is." Jackson shook his head. "Don't listen to him." Ronan looked at him. "That's exactly what your grandfather said to Elena." Jackson went still. Ronan continued. "He told her I was the monster." Sienna frowned. "You're saying you didn't kill my grandmother?" Ronan's jaw tightened. "I didn't say that." "Then tell me the truth." "I killed her." Kirsty gasped. Sienna felt tears burning her eyes. "But..." Ronan looked directly at her. "I killed Elena because she asked me to." Nobody spoke. Sienna stared at him. "You're lying." "I wish I was." Ronan reached inside his jacket and pulled out something small. A necklace. Sienna recognised it immediately. Her grandmother had worn it in every photograph she'd ever seen. The silver pendant had a tiny wolf carved into it. Ronan held it out. "She gave me this the night she died." Sienna couldn't move. "Why?" "Because she knew your grandfather was coming for her." Jackson stepped forward. "That's impossible." Ronan's eyes flashed. "Your grandfather wanted Sienna's mother. He wanted the Blood Luna's power passed down through his bloodline." Sienna looked at Jackson. "What does that mean?" Ronan answered before Jackson could. "It means your family has been lying to you." Michael's face hardened. "Enough." Ronan looked at him. "You've protected her for eighteen years. You did what you were asked to do." Sienna turned sharply. "What were you asked to do?" Michael looked at her. "Keep you hidden." "By who?" Ronan smiled. "Your mother." Sienna's heart stopped. "She's alive?" "Yes." "Where?" Ronan turned towards the darkness outside. "Come with me." Jackson immediately grabbed Sienna's wrist. "No." Sienna pulled free. "She is my mum." "And Ronan is the man who killed your grandmother." "I know." "You can't trust him." Sienna looked at Ronan. Then at Jackson. "I don't trust either of you." That hurt Jackson. She could see it in his eyes. But he nodded. "Then I won't ask you to trust me." He stepped beside her. "I'll just make sure you come home alive." Sienna looked at him. For the first time, she saw something beyond the Alpha. She saw the man. The one who was scared of losing his mate. "Okay." Jackson's eyes softened. "Okay." Sophie suddenly stepped forward. "I'm coming too." Everyone turned towards her. "Sophie, no," Michael said. "She's my sister." "I'm not leaving her." Sienna smiled faintly. "You heard her." Kirsty looked at both girls. Then she sighed. "Fine." Michael looked horrified. "Kirsty—" "They're going to find out eventually." She turned to Sienna. "Just promise me something." "What?" "Don't let anyone tell you who you're supposed to be." Sienna nodded. "I promise." Ronan stepped outside. "Then we leave now." Jackson moved beside Sienna. The moment they crossed the doorway, Sienna felt it. A pull. Not towards Ronan. Not towards the forest. Towards Jackson. Their hands brushed. Both froze. A spark travelled through them. Sienna looked at him. Jackson whispered, "Mate." This time, Sienna didn't pull away. She slowly took his hand. "Let's find my mum." Jackson smiled. "Together." But deep within the forest, something watched them leave. Something far more dangerous than Ronan. Something that had been waiting eighteen years for Sienna's wolf to awaken. And as Sienna disappeared into the darkness, a voice whispered from the trees: "The Blood Luna has chosen her Alpha." A pause. Then another voice answered. "Then we kill the Alpha first."
