Running at full tilt and jumping two steps at a time, Ahmed reached Bryce less than a minute after finding the American. He rushed back to his father’s shop, his face red with exertion, and screeched to a halt at Bryce’s knees. Bryce caught him before he propelled himself further forward. ‘Whoa, easy young man.’ Grinning from ear to ear, he said, ‘I see.’ The father watched them nervously. Bryce rubbed Ahmed’s head. ‘Well done.’ He got up and smiled warmly at the father. ‘Shukran. Thank you for your hospitality.
