“Why?” She whispered.
Henry frowned. “Why what?”
“Why help Midas? What do you get from all this?”
It was a simple question, but one she had wanted to ask ever since he admitted the truth about the rogue attack. Henry had helped Midas; he had manipulated him. He had helped destroy her life. There had to be a reason why.
“The Beta position.”
Evelynn stared at him, her mouth slightly open in surprise. “What?”
He tilted his head to the side, mocking her confusion. “You look surprised.”
Henry closed his eyes briefly. The orphanage had been hell. He always felt cheated by the Moon Goddess, as though she had handed everyone else a better life while leaving him with scraps. Midas and Leo already knew what they would become before they were old enough to shift, but Henry had nothing.
