Deseperate act

1412 Words
Theo left the hospital, carrying something in a white box inside a bag that he needed to deliver to the basement of a building across from the hospital. He didn't understand why such a simple job could earn him as much money as he needed, but he didn't even want to ask why. For him, the most important thing was that he could get the money quickly. He walked down the escalator that took him directly to the basement of the building. As soon as the door opened, Theo looked around the dark and deserted place. “Hello, I'm from Garden Blue Hospital to deliver something.” He spoke loudly while continuing to look around, searching for the person who was supposed to be waiting for him there, as mentioned by the doctor at the hospital. Theo continued walking deeper and deeper, and then he found a group of people standing near a van. His face lit up a little after finding them, and he ran over and approached them. “Sir, where is the nearest hospital around here?” He asked, using the code given to him by the doctor as their secret communication code. The man stared at him flatly. “The flowers in the garden are all blue, Garden Blue,” the man replied. Theo nodded. He had found the right person. He quickly handed the bag to the man. “Sir, please give me the money immediately.” He glanced at his watch. He needed to get back quickly. The man led him inside, asking him to follow. Theo didn't suspect anything until he saw Joe Laurent sitting in a room, smiling as he looked in his direction. At that moment, Theo knew he was caught in their game. “What's wrong? Are you surprised? Didn't you expect to see me here?” Joe stood up and approached Theo. Theo clenched his fists tightly. “I don't have time to play games, Joe.” His voice growled, his jaw hardening. He didn't have much time left; he had to get out of there immediately. “I brought your stuff, so give me the money now!” He was truly fed up. Joe Laurent was a scoundrel who had his eyes on his wife, a man who never respected himself as Jasmine's husband, let alone show any regard for him. He even openly insulted Mattheo in front of Jasmine to make her turn towards him, making her realize that Mattheo was not good enough for her. In front of a man like him, Theo didn't want to show any weakness or his pitiful side. Joe grinned with a condescending look. “There are no easy jobs with big salaries in this world. If you want to get your money, then do as I say.” Mattheo stared at him sharply, holding back the blood boiling inside him. “You want me to divorce Jasmine?” Joe furrowed his brow with a strange look. “I don't need to force you to do that, because soon Jasmine will divorce you herself. Seeing you like such a loser, how could any woman stand it?” He stroked Mattheo’s cheek with his finger, his eyes gazing down at him with contempt. “I just want to have some fun, because this is the perfect time.” He wanted to destroy Mattheo’s self-respect and make him suffer even more, so when he heard his situation, he immediately offered him money. “Let me beat you until I'm satisfied, then you can have your money.” “But if you don't want to, you can leave this place. I won't stop you.” He let go of him easily, certain that Theo wouldn't refuse. Mattheo was silent, weighing his options. Theo didn't know what Joe's connection to the doctor was, but now he remembered that Laurent's family was in the medical field and Garden Blue was one of the hospitals they worked with. Theo clenched his fist. “Do it quickly.” A grin appeared on Joe's lips, and with a look of satisfaction on his face, he immediately swung his fist and hit Theo's jaw. Theo's body swayed to the side, and he felt pain spreading across his face and spat blood from his mouth. Before he could process the pain, Joe pulled him up and blindly aimed his fist at Theo's stomach. “A man like you doesn't deserve to be with her. You should realize that.” Theo aimed his kick at Theo's left shoulder. The powerful kick hit Theo's shoulder hard, which now moved like a cannonball, moving back and forth before his shoulder scraped the floor after a loud thud. Theo got back up, stood in front of Joe, and then a hard kick came from behind, targeting his leg tendons. Matheo fell down, feeling the pain getting worse. Looking at Theo's blood-covered face, Joe still felt unsatisfied. He shouted at his men, who were there to hold Theo down immediately. Then a powerful swing from his fist struck Theo's solar plexus. Theo collapsed to the ground, limp, coughing violently and spitting blood, his body swaying and falling to the floor. His vision blurred, and he thought he was going to die that day. He vaguely looked at Joe, who seemed satisfied with what he saw. Theo then reached up and asked him for the money he was owed. At that moment, Joe's laughter grew louder. It grew stronger, as if he were laughing like a madman while throwing money on Theo's body. “You loser!” he said before leaving him. With the last of his strength, Theo tried to get up. The hands he used to support his body trembled and repeatedly caused him to fall back down. Along with the blood that dripped from his body, tears fell from his eyes. He continued to pick up the money and took it back to the hospital. But Theo stopped in his tracks, his world fading before his eyes when he saw that Elodi's room was no longer crowded with doctors. Theo approached a doctor who was still there and handed him the money. “Take the money and treat my sister. Hurry! What are you waiting for?” He became anxious when he saw that there was no longer any sign of panic in the room. Instead of action, the doctor bowed his head in front of Theo. “I'm sorry, sir, but there's nothing more we can do—” “What do you mean?” he screamed in disbelief. "What are you doing? Hurry up and do something! I asked you to prioritize her! And I'll bring the money. Here's the money! Hurry up and save my sister!” Theo roared in the silent room. His roar was like thunder against the faint sound of Elodi's heartbeat. “She's past the point of no return. There's nothing more we can do for her. She's in the final stages." In an instant, his world collapsed before his eyes. Theo ran towards the bed with great difficulty. He sat down weakly while roaring, holding Elodi's hand and asking her to wake up, but there was no answer. Elodi's thin hands were so cold, Theo rubbed them to warm them up, remembering the last time he held his mother's hands, which made him so distraught that his chest felt tight. Theo was beside himself, begging and begging until all the doctors left him. Theo hugged Elodi's body, holding her tightly as she lay on the bed. Unconsciously, the matching necklaces they were wearing touched each other, and the tears that wet them made them shine brightly. Suddenly, Theo’s body stiffened. He felt an electric shock coursing through his body, then a recording of a medical procedure played back in his mind at high speed. Everything spun in his memory, his mind flooded with new information that left his body unable to respond. Then, when it was all over, he knew what he had to do for Elodi. “I’ll save you, Elodi. I’ll do it.” He resolved to lift his sister’s body out of there. He ran out with great effort, his stomach still feeling weak, and he felt strange in one leg that ached intensely with every step, but he endured the pain and kept walking. Suddenly, he stumbled and fell right in the hospital lobby, right in the middle of the chaos unfolding around him.
