Shea couldn’t believe what she had done. Rejecting Ekul was supposed to be normal for any man, but it’s like everyone felt it was something tremendous. All of her friends looked at her as if she was crazy.
Before she knew it, the news had spread everywhere.
“Why did Sarah text me that you’re crazy?” Bhea, her sister, said as soon as Shae got home.
Shae shook her head. She took a deep breath and said, “Well, it seemed everyone thought that I did something. It happened in college.”
“Here she says that you rejected a Billionaire… Is that true?” Bhea asked, staring at her.
Shae took a deep breath and said, “Yes, I turned it down. I’m not for sale after all!”
Her sister shook her head and, putting her knees on the sofa, asked, “No, not that. Was he really a billionaire?”
Shae smiled and, sitting down, nodded as she looked at her sister. She opened a juice and began to drink when her smiling sister asked, “Why did you reject it? You didn’t like it?”
She shook her head and sighed. She said, “No, he was actually cute. I just didn’t like his attitude! As if all the rest of us were inferior!”
The sister looking at him, said, “He was cute. How?”
“Very beautiful, dreamy! A thing out of this world!” Shae responded.
They both smiled, and her sister got up, and she began to go to her room.
While she was walking, she stopped and turned and said, “Good job Sis! I’m proud of you!”
She looked at her and nodded, and said, “Thanks, Beau. I knew you would understand!”
That approval from her sister made her feel much calmer. Everyone treated her as if she were crazy as if rejecting Ekul was turning her back on the gates of paradise, and that made her angry.
He was just a man, a young man at best with power and elegance, but a man nonetheless.
She tried to get the image of Ekul out of her head and went to bathe. The hours normally passed when she came out of the shower. Her sister, surprised by her at the door, asked, “Are you absolutely sure this is the address?”
A confused Shae was walking towards Beau when she said, “What’s happening?!”
Beau looked at her and very said, “This man bought you a Ferrari!”
Shae gasped, and the bottom of her jaw dropped like she had no control as she asked, “What are you talking about?”
She thought about asking what kind, but it was obvious who it was, she didn’t know anyone else who could give a gift like that.
Beau, when her sister came up to her, stretched out her hand, and handed her a piece of paper, she looked at it.
When she read it, she said, “I feel like we got off on the wrong foot. He agrees to go out with me, have this little gift as a make-up present!”
Seeing her note, Shae took a deep breath and crumpled it up and handed it over to the man who delivered it, and said, “I don’t want anything from him and tell him that we can’t reconcile anything because nothing started. Now get out of my house!”
The surprised man saw how both girls closed the door and when it closed.
Beau looked at her and said, “You just turned down a Ferrari!”
Shae dropped down to her knees, and her sister smiling at her, said, “There is no doubt you are a better person than me!”
They both looked at each other and began to laugh, but little did she know that the shower of expensive gifts was just beginning.
Ekul tried to pay all the girl’s college tuition and tried to buy her an apartment, Shae firmly refused both gifts, and with her messengers, he sent a less polite rejection each time.
He kept trying to use her power to bind her together, but she resisted, and after two weeks like that, the man finally stopped. She was relieved. Clearly, the man had gotten bored and stopped harassing her, or so it seemed.
However, one day at the end of that week, she was leaving her house to go to her university when she saw Ekul himself leaning on the latest model, Bentley. When she saw him, she held her breath out of frustration.
When looking at Ekul, who was smiling, she said, “I won’t accept a car. It doesn’t matter if you bring it...”
He looked at her and, shaking her head, looked at the car and said, “No, this is mine. He is my favorite!”
She looked at him very carefully, waiting to see what the man would say, and he said, “I didn’t come to give you anything. On the contrary, I came to apologize for my behavior in the last two weeks!”
Surprised, she looked at him. The arrogant attitude that she had seen was reduced. It had not been eliminated, but somehow her presence felt different on that occasion, he looked at her, and she said, “You are forgiven. You can go now!”
He lowered his head and sighed heavily, and said, “No, I mean, I’m sorry, I’m not good at this. Many people jump every day for my money. They do whatever, whatever, because I give them the opportunity to be around me, and, for the first time, a student rejects me completely. I don’t know how to react to that.”
She looked at him and, smiling, said, “That it has to be a student!”
“Usually, they are broke!” He said.
She smiled and nodded and said, “More than usual, much more!”
He breathed and said, “Listen! It’s not a question that I can solve by being with people from my social strata. No, not even in my social strata. People stop throwing themselves at me as if being close to me would fix their lives, which frankly is already quite good; therefore, I don’t know how to behave like a human being because no one behaves like that around me. Nobody except you is clear!”
She looked at him and, smiling, said, “A human being….”
He shrugged at her shoulders, and she laughed, looked him straight in the face, and said, “Your problem is that you have so much money that everyone always loves you! Doesn’t sound like a problem in my world!”
He was smiling and said, “Well, your friends don’t care if you don’t have money tomorrow. Mine want to make sure you always have it!”
Shae continued down the stairs until she reached the sidewalk and said, “It must be a complicated life! I can’t imagine it!”
He stared at her and said, “Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy with my life, even satisfied, but the truth is that I’ve never met someone with your mental acuity or character, and even more so someone who sent me to hell for using my money, I’m intrigued, I’m in love, I need to get to know you better!”
She looked at him and said, “You can’t buy me! Do not try!”
He looked at her and nodded, and said, “I know! I already tried and failed prominently. For now, just getting to know you better will be enough for me! Please accept an invitation to dinner. That’s all I ask of you!”
She looked at him and firmly nodded. Smiling, she said, “I’ll only accept because you were a perfect gentleman, you came yourself in person, and you seem a bit sad and desperate. I can use the ego injection… but no more weird business! Just normal stuff, okay?”
He smiled and, trying to stay calm, he told her.
“Sure, even though I’m a billionaire, I think eccentricities will show up. Sorry, I’ll keep them to a minimum!”
She looked at him and, nodding, followed her way.
“I can take?” He asked while looking at her.
She looked at him and shook her head.
“Of course not, except for that, everyone will know it’s you!”
He nodded and watched her leave. He was happy that she had accepted the invitation and smiling.
He watched her walk away, the door of Shae’s house opened, and her sister appeared on the threshold. He looked at her and, smiling, raised his hand, and she greeted him. He looked sternly and, returning the look, went back inside.
Ekul entered his house. He sighed and said, “That was tricky!”
Lifting the phone from him, a voice answered, “It was. But you did well. She looks like a good girl. For sure, she will be the good Ekul!”
He smiled and, nodding, said, “I hope father likes her. Almost no one likes her, but this girl is great, don’t you think?”
The person he was talking to said, “She is, she’s lovely, and she doesn’t care about your money. That’s the best part. That’s why I think father will accept her, I’m sure!”
He smiled under the phone and, seeing the road started the car and said, “I hope so, a father can be very strict with people, and he really likes me. I hope everything goes well!”
With those words, he started the car and went back to his house, knowing that in a few days, he would have a fun date with a girl he really liked.
