chapter 4

Shae was completely terrified in Ekul’s arms. Security ran through the house frantically while they sat in the living room, watching them move efficiently. Ekul caressed the head of the disturbed Shae, who was still crying from fear. The security captain as he approached them both.

The girl saw him, and he said, “Sir, I’m sorry, I can’t find anything! All my men are combing the area, the house, and the surroundings to make sure nothing happened, but we can’t see anything!”

She looked at him and said, “I was there. I swear, I was wearing a mask and dragging a girl, and the whole floor was covered in blood. You have to believe me, Ekul!”

He looked at her and, nodding, said, “I believe you, honey, captain. Are you sure I’m looking everywhere?”

The man nodded and said, “Yes, Sir! Sure, if the young lady wants to, she might be able to show us the exact place where it all happened!”

She looked at Ekul, and hers looking at her, said, “Honey if you don’t want to do this, that’s fine. We can just ignore it!”

Shae, demonstrating her character, got up. She was scared and saw what the captain said, “Come on. I’ll show you the exact place!”

Everyone followed her. Shae felt her heart beating at a sick speed when looking in all directions, she saw the exit to the patio where she found the corpse, and she advanced, but before the crossing where she had seen the person, a tremendous fear made her sigh, her hand bristled, but Ekul, next to her took her hand.

While seeing her with a reassuring smile, he said, “Show us!”

She took a deep breath and walked into the intersection and what she saw stunned her. Everything was intact, not a drop of blood, not a single stain, just a small corridor that led to a staircase to go up to the second floor and a painting of who seemed to be Don, Quixote de la Mancha.

She breathed with some difficulty, and shaking her head, she said, “This is not possible! I saw it. It was here, I swear!”

Ekul looked at her and, nodding, said, “Captain, is it possible that someone cleaned everything up?”

The captain looked at the girl and said, “Without any of my men seeing it? I’m afraid not… perhaps the young lady imagined it!”

“No!!”Shae intervened. She was sure what she had seen and looked at the captain. She said firmly, “No, I swear, Sir, I saw it. It was here!”

Ekul stepped forward and put her finger on the captain’s chest, and said, “Careful what you say about my captain’s girlfriend!”

The terrified man said, “I’m sorry, Sir!”

Ekul stared at him, but Shae, seeing that everything could climb, said, “Wait, Ekul, he doesn’t have bad intentions. It’s actually possible that he imagined it!”

Ekul turned her head and, seeing her said, “Are you sure, love? You don’t have to accept anything you don’t believe!”

She shook her head and said, “It’s illogical. What I saw couldn’t be cleared in a few minutes, especially if the dens were checking the whole place. I would have found it, at least the trace. Besides, this is very strange to see someone like that.”

Ekul nodded and, seeing the young woman, said, “Maybe you did imagine it, but you looked so confident!”

She nodding said, “It was so real! Very real, actually!”

She looked at the place where everything had happened, and she couldn’t believe that her mind had played that trick on her. However, everything was possible, everything returned to normal, and the rest of the night was fine. Ekul told her that if she wanted If they to leave, there would be no problem, but she, once again showing her courage, decided to stay.

They spent several more days in that place, and nothing happened, everything was charming, and that convinced Shae that she had imagined that episode. They returned to normal, and she returned home, but her relationship with Ekul grew stronger. Little by little, every weekend, they went to Ekul’s house, and the traumatic event left his brain. After almost three months, he told her that if she wanted to invite a friend, he would be very happy with that, and agreeing she did.

It took her three weeks to prepare it, but she did it without problems, and her friends went to visit her at Ekul’s huge mansion. The boy sent a car for them, and when they got out of the car, several people got out.

The first thing he saw was her sister, Beau. She ran up to her sister, hugged her, and she said, “Why all the fuss? We only have a week without seeing each other!”

Smiling, she looked at her sister and then saw Sarah, she approached and she said with a mischievous look, “I knew you would stay with the rich man!”

Sarah immediately looked at Ekul, who was smiling and nodding, hugging her friend. Beth and Simón came out from the other side of the car, and she hugged everyone and introduced them. Ekul had prepared a lovely day for them, and everyone was having fun in that huge mansion. Servants were everywhere, food and drinks, and everyone had a fantastic day, but Beau felt something she didn’t like.

Ekul separated from the group to talk on the phone, and she got up and followed him, he was walking to the garden, and as she got closer, she heard the man say.

“Yes, mother! All his friends are here. Please don’t let father come!”

When she noticed Beau, she simply put the phone away and said with a smile, “I thought she was on the phone!”

The man shook his head and said, “It’s not that! They are just mental notes! They help me to follow my routine. I have too many things on my mind!”

She looked at him and said, “Yeah, I guess you’re right!”

Beau’s gaze was deep, as if analyzing something.

Ekul said, “You are having fun?”

She nodded and said, “Yes, everything is luxurious, but I would like to see the place where my sister saw the dead man and the murderer!”

Ekul widened his eyes and said, “That was a long time ago. She imagined it somewhere in the house!”

Smiling, Beau said, “Yeah, I bet so. It would be great to see it, though!”

Ekul, with a smile, said, “Yes, of course, although I don’t remember exactly where she is. Let’s tell your sister to tell us!”

Beau nodded, and they both looked at each other for a second when huge screams began to be heard at the entrance. They all looked at a young woman running away from the guards and screaming loudly.

“Let me in. My sister is in there!”

Beau, interested in what was happening, walked towards the young woman that the dens reduced, and the whole group gathered in that place.

“Hey, what’s going on?” Ekul asked.

The head of the dens turned and said, “A person who wanted to enter by force, sir, don’t worry, we already controlled the situation!”

Ekul smiled, but Beau moving forward, said, “Hey, do you have to be so rude? Leave her. She’s a woman!”

The guard met Beau’s eyes firmly, and the girl held his gaze. When she saw Ekul, she said, “I understand that your men have to control her, but they don’t have to be so rude!”

He looked at her and nodded and said, “Careful, captain!”

Ekul invited them to eat, and they all nodded, but Beau looked at the girl who, with tears in her eyes, said, “Virginia is in there. Let me in. I want to see my sister, please!”

Beau, somewhat confused, turned her gaze to see Ekul, who saw her from a distance, the young woman followed them inside, but when she had a chance, she separated from the group and went right to the place where her sister told her she had imagined the corpse, in that place I look all over the floor, that had happened months ago, clearly wouldn’t find anything.

“You are a fool, Beau, ” She said when she turned her gaze. She stood in a security camera at the end of the hall. She looked at what was happening and, nodding, returned to the group. They all had a fantastic day.

As they were about to leave, Beau pulled her sister aside and said, “Something very strange is happening in this place, Shae. You must be careful!”

Her sister smiling, said, “What are you talking about? I have been coming to this site for a long time. Everything is fine!”

Beau, somewhat frustrated, looked at her and said, “With the event you saw, did you check the cameras?”

Shae stared at her and asked, “There are cameras?”

Scared, Beau said, “Yes, there are!”

Shae sighed and replied, “You’re paranoid. Beau, don’t worry. Everything will be fine!”

Beau looked at her, and before getting into the car, she looked at Ekul approaching and said, “Find out who Virginia Shae is!”

Her sister, confused by her, saw her saying goodbye, and the idea that the young woman proposed was planted in her mind. Who was Virginia? Something wasn’t right and her paranoia from her early days came back
