Micah's POV
The alram blared throughout the pack and I know Anika had the exact same thought I did in that moment. We had to get these kids out of here. Before I could do anything my future Luna stepped up in all her glory and took charge. "Ok listen up!" She pointed to the middle of their huddle and drug her hand to the right. "All of you, go with the future alpha. The rest of you, come with me!" She looked at me and spoke. "We need to split up, we have to assume that they are here for them considering that's the only variable that's changed from our daily routine. If we all stay together it's not only a bigger target but it would be easier for them to pinpoint who they're looking for. We meet back at the pack house. You run down the left border line and we'll run down the right. GO!" and with that she took off, every single wolf she commanded did exactly as they were told, even though they were just quarreling about it only seconds ago. I do as I'm told as well, she is the smart one after all. Half of the wolves are behind me and I'm upset with myself for not trying to remember any of their names.
They follow closely behind and don't say much. We're almost to our destination when we hear a loud shriek. I instantly fight the urge to run towards it, to protect whoever needed it. I needed to get the teens somewhere safe, then I'd be free to help. Until then, as Anika had said, we have to assume these kids are the targets. I run a little faster, not too fast cause I don't want to out run them.
After what felt like forever we finally reached the packhouse. I had them quickly pile inside and my mother immediately took action, bringing them inside. "I can take them from here, hurry and go help the rest of the pack." I wanted to ask if the other half had already arrived but I felt there was no time and decided against it. I rush out and decide to take on wolf form to get back to where the scream came from. Before I find any fight I come across some of the weaker wolves from Anika's group of teens and immediately begin to worry, she wouldn't have let them go off on their own unless it was for their own safety. I shift back to human form so I can communicate.
One of them I recognized as one of the she wolves that was desperately trying to get my attention. However, even though I was completely naked, right now she was terrified. "O thank goddess, alpha, you have to help her, there are 2 of them and we think one is a lycan and one is a wolf but there's something off with them, they seem to be able to do strange things and they've already hurt some of us. The Luna said that we need to hurry and find you, she said she could hold them off but some of the others refused to leave her and the injured." Fuuuuuck I knew she could handle herself, but I wanted nothing more than to be right next to her, fighting, making sure her and everyone are OK. But I had to get these kids to safety as well, I couldn't just leave them here and I'm sure bringing them with me back where they just came from wasn't a smart move.
"Stay right behind me and run as fast as you possibly can do you understand?" I ask and they all nod. I race back, making sure to only go as slow as the slowest one following me, thankfully they were all fast and we got there fairly quickly. My mother sees that there are still some missing and growls. "Where are the rest of them? Don't tell me you lost them?" She wasn't aware that I hadn't told Anika that she would no longer be in charge of the training program. She thought it was just me out there, and I wasn't going to explain it to her. Unfortunately one of the she wolves spoke up. "The future Luna has the rest of us, don't worry, she's putting up one hell of a fight." My mothers brow furrowed immediately. "Who?" Her voice was laced with confusion and worry, even though she knew exactly of whom they spoke of. I needed to get back to Anika, now, but of course my mother had to hold me up. "Anika mom, Anika, who the hell else!?" I go to rush off but she grabs my shoulder and begins yelling. "Why on earth is she with them, don't tell me you didn't tell her? Micah! Future Luna!? I thought we discussed this, are you insane? How can you choose that demon wolf to be your Luna. You need to wait, til you find your mate son. She-" "ENOUGH I WONT HAVE YOU SPEAK OF HER THIS WAY!" I stop and breathe, trying to regain my cool. "I don't care what I said last night, that was to appease you and dad, I am going to mark and passionately mate with her and there's nothing you or dad can do to stop me, I will willingly give up my title to just be with her if that's what it's going to take." I say before turning around, shifting and sprinting back to where I heard the shriek the first time without once glancing back, leaving no room for arguments or debates.
My mind was set on finding Anika, it had been way too long and if what those teens had said was true she was up against a lycan. Lycans are said to be able to take down entire packs by themselves. She may have a very decent shot against a lower ranked lycan, but against a high ranked lycan it was pretty much a done deal and I was hoping and praying to the moon goddess that my mate was ok.
I am running at full speed when I see a group of people walking in the distance. Some are naked and carrying others who seem to be injured.
I look in the front and see that Anika has someone tied with some kind of rope around her wrists walking behind her. My eyes land on the blonde girl and my wolf begins to retreat to the back of my mind causing me to shift back to human form instantly.
What the hell was that. I look at Anika and notice that she is severely injured, her stomach is bleeding and she had several cuts all over her face, chest, arms and legs. One of her eyes is swollen shut and she seems to have a pretty serious head wound. My heart drops and I find my self running to her.
I get within a yard and stop dead in my tracks when a mouth watering scent hits my nose, I didn't have time to think about anything before my mind went completely blank.
Leah's POV
The alarm blared in my eardrums, yet my brain couldn't register it, I was stuck in some kind of, dream like state. I was awake. My eyes, they are open, yet I am not seeing what's in front of me. Instead I am witnessing the death of my best friend.
The first time, this irregularly tall and scrawny lycan approaches Anika as she lays severely wounded on the ground, he then rips her heart right out of her chest when she turns to face him. The next time she is locked inside of a cell, her arms are tied above her head with silver handcuffs as they sear her skin. Shifters I don't recognize speak to her in a vulger manner, implicaticating r**e. She fights back and a man snaps her neck, tired of her fighting back. Finally, I saw her in some kind of rink, surrounded with barbed wire fencing, standing toe to toe with a gigantic white bear in human form. The bear lunges for some Strawberry blond girl in there with them and my best friend jumps in the way, recieving gashes across her face and neck from his strong paws, making her bleed out, choking on her own blood.
Finally I am pulled back into reality and I can hear the screams of my pack mates outside. I look up and realize that Anika's aunt Janet is standing there in front of me, holding my face, clearly worried and concerned, her face fit in a frown highlighting the light wrinkles on her face.
"What happened hun? Your eyes rolled back into your head and your eyes were white!" Her voice cracked, I'm sure she was terrified of what was happening outside because now that I listened I could hear growls and snarling outside.
"I-I'm not sure." How the hell was I supposed to tell her that I had just seen Anika's death. I would sound like a psycho.
Suddenly my heart dropped. My best friend could be in danger this very instant. I look up at Janet "Where is Anika, did she come home?" Knowing Anika, if something like this happens she would definitely come home to check on her aunt and I. Knowing this is where I run when I'm scared. If she hadn't been here yet that means something is holding her up.
Janet shakes her head, looking just as worried, except I wasn't ok with that. I can't lose my only friend. I didn't think about it and just ran out of the door without looking back or taking in my surroundings until I saw her.
Anika was standing next to the same irregularly tall and scrawny lycan she had seen earlier causing her heart to sink to the pit of her stomach. There was absolutely no way this was possible. How had she seen this lycan before she actually met him. He lunged at my best friend and because of her quickness she easily dodged only to be tripped by a small blonde she wolf. Who immediately shifted, pinned her and stabbed in the stomach with a silver blade. Anika was able to throw her off, but as soon as she stood up the lycan threw himself into her knocking her to the ground. I'm already running towards them, I wouldn't let this scene play out like it had in my 'vision' or whatever the hell it was. As I got closer and closer I started to realize he was about to hurt her and she couldn't throw him like she had the werewolf. I screamed at the top of my lungs out to them "NOOOOOOOO" I screamed so loud I felt my voice go. But that was fine, because it had done exactly what I needed it to do. The lycans gaze shifted to mine just long enough, for Anika to reach over, grab a thick rock and smash it right into the side of his skull. The lycan fell off her but retained his consciousness. He stumbled off and began walking away. Anika and some wolves I didn't recognize tried to go after him, but were stopped by some insane barrier that seemed to have no edge. I was still running and I had almost reached them when something hard and heavy hit me and I lost all consciousness.
Liam's POV
I had been sleeping almost all day but, I was yanked out of my slumber yet again by a strong feeling that I knew wasn't my own. I found myself cursing the mate bond from time to time. I couldn't for the life of me understand why the moon goddess would allow me me to sense my mate before meeting her. It's not like I was a Prince or even someone important.
Right now I could feel how scared my mate is, she's worried and absolutely terrified. All these feelings lead me to believe that she has a chosen mate. I don't think I'd be able to handle that.
"We will kill her chosen mate, she is ours." My lycan growled and had no playfulness in his tone. Brock, as I've said, is a romantic, he's wanted our mate since the second he could sense her. Just in that same right, he will not allow her rejection in the slightest. He will never accept it, not even if she bears another's mark. He will court her, he will wait til the day he dies for his mate.
I can't say I don't also feel the same way, just not as strongly. I feel like I have no right to control her decision on the matter but, where is the fairness.
I already feel connected to her, I feel as if I already know her. To face her complete rejection would undoubtedly kill me. I couldn't let that happen, I won't.
Suddenly every sense of my mate was completely cut off. It had me worried as hell, I stood up from my bed, sweating and in desperate need of a shower. I start pacing while trying to think of any way to find her faster for about the 100,000th time.
Suddenly I recieve a mind link from Sables younger brother Sean. "Liam, get to the Royal dining room, there's something wrong with Sable." In the heat of the moment, because I was so worried about my mate, I instantly assumed the worst. I rushed out hoping that Sable hadn't gotten wounded without me being there, that would make me a terrible beta. I rush in the doors and notice that he doesn't have any physical injuries but he seems incredibly irritable and his aura is making it hard to breathe. I am not a royal so it's definitely effecting me more than anyone else in here.
I approach him slowly, with my hands up in submission, in fear that he will lose control of his lycan at any moment. I recognized this state. I went through it the first few times I had sensed my mate. Sensing someone without being able to touch them was incredibly testing and he had mentioned being able to see how she physically looks, I had to calm him down, and fast.
