Anika's POV
We had just parted ways with Micah, my group consisted of Allen, Avaline, Chandler and the majority of the males. There were 4 smaller people in the back, 3 she wolves and a boy even smaller than Chandler that was extremely flexible and agile.
His name was Lyle and he seemed to look terrified with the rest of his small group. Don't worry I won't let any of you get hurt.
It didn't take long for us to be ambushed. I knew I assumed right when I said they would come for the teens. I wonder who it is they want?
I look up at our intruders and freeze when I see the long, salvating snout of a lycan two inches in front of my face. Thank Goddess my reaction time was fast because if I hadn't moved out of the way, he would have caught my entire head in his jaws.
I drop low and elbow him in his nether region. "With all males comes one weakness ladies take notes!" I scream out as he falls to the ground grabbing himself in pain shifting to a lesser form in the process. I am suddenly flipped over and land right on my back. I look up to see a small blonde wolf running to his side. Before she can shift back he shouts at her. "Kill them, now!" Confusion washes over me. He does not care for any of us? Then what the hell are they here for?
She wastes no time and charges the smaller wolves in the back. It's a common tactic in hunting, take out the smaller ones first, then attack the rest once their numbers have dropped. Unfortunately for her, I wasn't going to let that happen. I rush towards them shifting in the process and just as she reached them, crashed my body right into hers, throwing us both to the ground a safe distance away from all the teens.
I stand quickly and shift back to human form. "You all need to head to the packhouse, the intruders are here with me, you'll be safe, I just need you to go, I can hold them off." I tried to say calmly but it came out with desperation.
I couldn't focus on this fight with them here, I also don't know what I would do if something were to happen to any of them, I had been intrusted to protect them.
"We can be useful, use us!" I hear Avaline say. I turn to face her and sure enough her and the rest of the males look ready to attack.
"No you all need to go, now." I notice the group of smaller wolves were on their way out which was a relief but I needed them all out of here. "We're staying, you can't take them on by yourself." Allen decides to speak up now. Of course his reasoning was probably because I was a female but he was technically right. I would only be able to hold them off, my only chance is that I can hold them off long enough for Micah to get here with at least another wolf.
I wouldn't endanger these kids though. "I can hold them off but I need you all to hurry so Micah can get bac-" "We aren't leaving, that's a lycan and you're a werewolf, I haven't questioned your ability or skill once but this is beyond skill or ability." Chandler spoke softly.
I didn't have anymore time. The lycan had healed quite quickly and the blonde wolf was already circling us. They wouldn't be able to escape now. At least the smaller ones got away.
"Okay, Allen, Avaline, you two pick up any of my slack, that's the best you get." I hear some of the others click their tongues but no one says anything because as I turn around I am faced with the fist of a pretty pissed off lycan. He lands a blow but just as he does I twist my body up and catch him in his jaw with my foot. He stumbles backward slightly and I step forward to land a headbutt to try and get this over with quickly but am unfortunately stopped by teeth wrapping around my left calf.
I react quickly but throwing my left fist down hard and catching her in the snout. Yet before I could notice anything the Lycan was on top of me. He threw punch after punch, landing a few and missing a few other times as I tired my best to dodge.
I glanced over for only a second and saw Avaline and Allen fending off the unreasonably fast werewolf.
Unfortunately, being distracted for a mere second was enough to allow him to headbutt me.
My vision blurred and I almost passed out but I kept my eyes open and before I knew it the blond werewolves body was thrown into the lycan, getting him off me in the process. I stand up, wobbling on the way. I look over to see Allen standing there in a throwing stance. "Thanks" I said and I'm sure I sounded drunk even though I've never been drunk.
I turn back and deflect an attack from the Lycan immediately, throwing him to the ground just as the blonde werewolf attacks. She manages to pin me, she shifts as she does and from seemingly no where pulls out a silver blade, stabbing me in the stomach. I ignore the pain and because she's smaller than I am I use my weight to throw her off. Before I knew it, the lycan had me pinned again and I started to get aggravated, I needed back up but I also needed these teens out of harms way so I definitely wasn't asking them for help.
Suddenly, I caught a scent, or at least I think I did. You know when you're craving a particular food so much that you can almost smell or taste it. It was like that and went away as fast as it came but it was there, the smell had my body wanting to instantly fall asleep.
I was snapped out of it hearing the blood curling shriek from in the woods. I couldn't see anything because I was still being pinned but as soon as the lycan turned to see who had screamed, I looked to my right and saw an oddly shaped rock. It was pointed on one side and before I really even thought about it I had smashed the rock into the side of lycans head.
He fell off of me, wobbling as he stood and quickly stumbled away.
I won't let him get away I rush towards him trying my hardest to disregard the pain in my stomach from the silver. I was obviously moving slower than normal because some of the teens had ran passed me already. I was about to call out to them but I stopped when I saw one seemingly run into a wall.
The area was empty and yet no one was able to cross. The lycan stood on the other side of the barrier, holding his bleeding head with a scary grin on his face.
The blonde wolf ran into me from behind knocking me to the ground. I felt like I'd pass out after one more hit and I couldn't see straight.
I watch as Allen, Avaline, and the other teens attack her. They wonder off slightly, leaving me on the ground as I try and heal after being hit with silver. Just as they begin to subdue her I hear rustling of leaves and when I turn around I see the lycans hand just as it reaches into my chest.
It all seemingly happened in slow motion and before even I could react I see a small delicate hand hit the lycans chest, sending him flying back into a tree.
I look down to my chest and unfortunately it was too late, he had punctured my heart, I was going to die.
I slowly began to accept my fate, I looked up to thank my savior from saving me the brutalness of having my heart ripped out.
Little Chandler stood in front of me. Even as a werewolf he was able to shift only his claws which was a rare ability only lycans tend to posses. I looked over to the lycan who was stumbling away. "G-et h-him." I pleaded with Chandler, he was obviously stronger than he let on, he could subdue the lycan now that it had been hurt. I was already a goner.
"If I did that, I would be too late in being able to do this." He turns around and sits down in front of me. He puts his left hand on top of his right hand and presses hard onto my chest. It hurt and I almost protested but then, his hands began to glow with his eyes. His big pretty hazel eyes shown brightly, and so did his hands. Slowly but surely I felt less and less pain.
When he pulled his hands away, I looked down and saw that my chest no longer had even so much as a scratch on it.
Shock set in and I finally understood how this seemingly weak wolf got into our training program. He was the healer wolf. The healer wolf is up in rank with Lycan Prince/Princesses. The last healer wolf was the southern kings mate, once she died. The next healer wolf would have been born, and here he stands in front of me.
Before I could thank him for saving me, he falls over, completely unconscious.
That's when I notice the crowd of teens had already subdued the werewolf, and were staring at the scene with wide eyes and confused faces. We all knew what had happened to Chandler and I wasn't taking any chances on the healer wolf who just so happened to have just saved my life.
"Allen, grab Chandler and carry him, I'll take her." I pointed to the woman in human form, her hands tied in rope. "What's that?" I ask, not sure how any of them acquired rope in the first place.
"Its a rope I've laced with liquid silver and wolves bane." Avaline spoke with arrogance. She deserved so, that is a brilliant idea, especially since I could see the tape wrapped around the end so another wolf would be able to hold it.
I smirk, somewhat proud that I'll get to train these smart wolves. I stand and take the rope in my hand and begin wrapping it around my arm, burning me in the process.
The teens give me a confused look. I don't bother explaining, but, I have an oddity. Silver doesn't take my wolf away like most, I'm not sure why, but it just burns me, much like something scolding hot would.
"Don't try and come out at all while this is around my arm Willow, the people of this pack already think we're a demon or something." I say to my wolf. She doesn't give me any sort of reply but I can feel her annoyance. She wants us to shout how special we are from the roof tops, but if I let her do that, there'd be trials and goddess knows what other kinds of tests they'd do on me to find out what I am.
Allen picks up Chandler and some of the other bigger wolves pick up some of the injured ones, and we begin walking towards the packhouse. It shames me to say that I have no idea how they got hurt, I was too focused on fighting.
"What happened to them?" I manage to ask Avaline. She looked back. "We honestly don't know, we think those two have some kind of weird abilities. That barrier was probably something the lycan did but, the werewolf starting glowing at one point when the lycan had you pinned, it also made a select few of us glow too, and when she stopped glowing they all just fell and were unable to shift. I'm not sure what happened but, these two are something greater than just werewolves. They have to be hybrids of some kind but I'm not sure what." She seemed to be rambling
She was definitely right though, and my suspicion was only confirmed hearing that she thought the same.
I heard the blonde werewolf begin chuckling as I still had her wrapped in rope and pulling her behind me. I turn back to face her with a glare. "What's so funny?" I ask not seeing anything that could have made her laugh.
"You- you're the one who is said to be the next Luna correct?" She looked at me with a smug smirk, like she knew something I didn't.
It irked me but it wasn't like it was false, and she couldn't do anything about that. So I answered truthfully. "I am."
She slung her head back and started laughing a little louder. When she stopped she looked right at me and said "oh you poor thing." In a mock tone.
My eyebrows furrowed and my chest started to hurt, like I was missing something big and it was worrying me.
Avaline muttered something about ignoring her psycho ass and we kept going but my mind was stuck on what she had said.
I was starting to really worry about it and something began to grow in my chest, a feeling that I would associate with anticipation, only, it was completely terrifying.
Suddenly I look up and I can see Micah heading this way in a rush. Thank the goddess. I needed his affection right now, I had almost died and this girl getting in my head wasn't helping.
"Micah, I'm so happy to see you, I almost di-" I ran up to hug him, but was thrown down. Confusion washed over me. What? Did Micah just throw me down. I looked up and I wish I hadn't. There stood Micah, his hands entwined completely in the blonde intruders hair as he passionately kisses her, growling "mine" every break in their kiss.
