Chapter 8

Skye

"So?" I asked. "What do you think of the game plan?"

Lyall and Mitch looked at each other with bright grins and nodded at me. "Sounds like our new Luna is a genius, eh pal?"

Lyall said. "From the sounds of it you're spot on, bud" Mitch responded.

I blushed at their compliments, especially at being referred to as Luna. Drew glanced at me with a blush and a smile making me feel warm and fuzzy.

A knock sounded at the door, and we all went silent. We looked at one another knowing none of us had heard anyone approaching.

I dusted myself off and ushered the others to the side as I answered the door, and immediately I released a sigh of relief. "Hello, Amelia. I assume this is about what we discussed earlier?" She nodded meekly, and I opened the door wider, inviting her in "I hope you don't mind, there are a few others here too." She once again nodded and quietly told me "I got the note you passed along telling me where to find you-" her face drained of color and she trembled when she saw Lyall and Mitch in the room.

"Hey, no. Don't panic, they're here to help. They've also clashed with Lachlan" She nodded but remained quiet. "Hmm, Lyall, Mitch. Can you guys head next door to my brother's room, he'll be helping you guys with your role in my plan so it's best you coordinate with him" They caught on immediately, gave a gentle smile and wave to the scared omega and Drew then departed. I helped Amelia sit down comfortably and reassured her that we're safe here. Drew walked over and sat next to her. "Hi Amelia, I'm glad you were seen by Skye earlier; I was concerned for you." This seemed to calm her considerably. Amelia smiled and spoke softly, "I had some of the other girls meet me at a local park discreetly. I only invited girls I was certain were in the same boat. There could be others but given that there are some who welcome the chief's advances, I didn't want to risk it. We're all set to help and get our freedom from him."

Drew and I looked at each other excited about what was to come. "Just remember that you have a choice in this matter, each of you should decide for yourselves whether you're ready to step forward and expose him" I said. Amelia nodded with determination showing in her eyes now, "Don't worry, we're ready. Luna Drew has been passing notes to us whilst making the arrangements for the celebration." Her eyes went wide for a second, "Oh excuse me, I meant Chief Drew. I misspoke, Luna Skye" I smiled and eyed Drew seeing the mischief in her eyes. "And here I was thinking about how surprised the clan would be at finding out about me being your mate. It won't be such a surprise if you tell everyone beforehand", Drew shrugged "To be fair, I've only told those we're certain can be trusted and that's a short list"

I chuckled and stuck my tongue out at her, I was enjoying this cheeky side of Drew, I had been braced for a long recovery before her personality would start shining through. "Right ladies, I think everyone knows what needs to be done. Say, Amelia would you like to come with us dress shopping during the day before the celebrations start?" Her face instantly brightened with a smile. "Is that really okay? I'm working during the day tomorrow and I have to do the laundry and bedding-" She immediately went quiet, her pupils shrinking and trembling. I quickly glossed over the topic sensing her reason for fear "Of course it's okay! Doctor's orders, you're not cleared for work yet" She let out a sigh of relief, smiled and nodded "Okay then Luna! I look forward to it"

Drew suddenly spoke up "You know Amelia... If you're worried about some sort of retaliation for the incident that occurred the other day, you can stay in this guest house. There's another room next to this one on the opposite side to Skye's brother." Her demeanor noticeably brightened much further. "Thank you, Chief! I won't forget your kindness." Drew blushed. "Don't be silly, dear. As leader of this clan, it's my job to take care of everyone, regardless of rank."

We heard another knock at the door and, knowing the boys were still in Will's room, we were confused for a moment. The door swung open as the girls I met on the first day, Charlie and Nessa, barged in. "Drew you silly wh*re! You didn't include us at all in these plans of yours! I can't believe we had to hear about it from Lyall and Mitch of all people!" Charlie hollered. Their sudden intrusion seemed to spook Amelia until she looked at Drew, who was smiling and sighed loudly "Girls, I am so sorry. I've been crazy busy, and you know how difficult it is to contact you around Alastair." They looked at each other and shrugged. "Okay girlie" Nessa started. "Tell us about these groundbreaking plans. That cheeky bastard Lyall held out on me and insisted I speak to you because mayhem will be going down, and you just know I live for the chaos and drama." Charlie swatted her arm "Ness you fiend, at least pretend you want to help out of kindness instead of seeking drama" Nessa in turn just sighed dramatically with her hand on her head "I don't seek the drama, it finds me"

Drew spoke up "Okay girls, sit down because it's going to be a kinda long explanation." We all got comfortable, Amelia on a nearby beanbag, Charlie and Nessa grabbing some cushions to sit on. Once the two of them had settled down, they raised their eyebrows at Drew settled between my legs on the plush floors with her head rested on my chest. "Well first things first". She blushed. "Skye is my second chance mate." I swear their jaws hit the floor at her statement. "How?" "What?" "When?" "Why didn't you tell us?" They fired question after question, so Drew hushed them. "Listen and I'll explain"

Drew went on to explain from the moment we found each other to the research I found, her reality-breaking realization about Alistair, our discussion about her reclaiming her position and finally outlining our plans, including the plan to announce Charlie and Nessa as her Beta and Gamma as they should have been originally given their bloodline before Alistair dismissed them replacing them with top warriors Lyall and Mitch. By the end of Drew's explanation, the two of them were practically vibrating with excitement and joy. "Yes B*tch! I'm so excited! We'll be right there ready to cart that f*cker off to the dungeons."

"Alright, time for bed, girls" I said "We've all got shopping to do tomorrow and I imagine Charlie and Nessa, you wouldn't want to miss it." They nodded their agreement and soon, they left with Amelia. Drew and I got comfortable in the plush bed and drifted off to sleep easily after such a busy day.

Drew

I woke up just as the door was opening. I didn't panic because I could smell that heavenly lavender and peppermint scent. Skye placed a takeaway box and a caramel frappé on the bedside table and gave me a nudge "I can tell you're awake, doll. Come on, I got you a breakfast muffin. It's your favorite; egg sausage, cheese and black pudding with ketchup." I sat up straight away with anticipation, my stomach rumbling.

Skye chuckled, shaking her head a little, "I turned your alarm off and went to get breakfast and coffee. You always seem easier to rouse from sleep when there's food and caffeine involved."

"I can't overstate how lucky I am to have you, darling" She blushed a little. "Shh, eat your breakfast. We've got a lot to do today."

"You say that as if I didn't finish my work for this event yesterday" I said with a wink. She shook her head, "Firstly, I'm not happy about how much you overworked yourself on an event that really doesn't need to be as extravagant as that c*nt wants, since it's meant to be a trap for him anyway, but that's not the point. Today we're going to find the perfect dresses and get ourselves ready, double check the plan with everyone, make sure there's no problems with the slideshow and make sure-" I pulled her to me for a hug mid-ramble "I know darling, I was just teasing" She blushed a little embarrassed "Well I'm off to get ready for the day and do my skincare" She scurried off to the bathroom and I chuckled thinking about how cute she is when she gets embarrassed about not understanding jokes or sarcasm sometimes.

Once we were ready, we discreetly met up with Charlie, Nessa and Amelia and drove down to the mall in the town within our territory ready for a long busy day and filled with anticipation.
