He got up, straightened up what had fallen over, and then, was wide awake. He paced around the living room, and the whole apartment, from room to room, Gavin re-checked the ash-seals on the windows, made sure the gas filters he’d cleaned two weeks ago were working, straightened up what had fallen over, reviewed his instructions again, and then, after making another circuit of every room in his apartment, looked through the photo album he had kept since Grey’s birth, and finally crawled back in bed and pulled the covers over his head.
