We finally reached Molly and Deonna's bus stop. Me and Tyree waved bye to them and told them I would text them later. They said ok and got off the bus. I layed my head on Tyree's shoulder and continued to stare out the window so I wouldn't be staring at Caine. It didn't work for long though. I kept finding myself looking towards Caine's seat which was only 4 seats in front us us on the left side of the bus; we were on the right.
"Stop acting so thirsty!" Tyree said looking at me and interrupting my thoughts. I sat up and said "Aint nobody acting or being thirsty, bucket head!" He pushed me in my arm and I pushed him back. Our little play fight didn't last for long though because we pulled up to our bus stop. "Do you need me to help you with yo' stuff Shawty?" Tyree asked. I shook my head no as we headed off the bus.
"Wassup my nigga?" I heard Caine say to Tyree. Damn, even his voice was sexy! "Aw, wassup Caine?" Tyree said to Caine. They slapped five and I started to walk away. "Bye Tyree!" I yelled to him as I walked towards my house "Later, Shawty!"
I walked in the house about two minutes later and saw it was 2:45. I would have to go meet up with Nevaeh outside her school in about 15 minutes so I decided not to start on my homework just yet. As I walked to my room I saw my step-dad Howard stepping out his office. "Hi, Annah! How was school?" he said looking through some papers. Howard was a tall light skin man. He was bald but had facial hair and like most lawyers, he looked good in a suit. His eyes were a normal dark brown, nothing too special about them, and he was kind of muscular. "It was good, Howard." I said to him. He looked up at me and said "Now Anne, we talked about this. You can call me Dad." I looked at him like he had lost his mind and said "With all do respect, I'd rather not call you that, Howard." He nodded and went back to his papers.
Can you believe this man? The nerve?! He been married to my Momma for only 6 months and he thinks I'm gone let him take the place of my Daddy, even if my Dad could be an ass hole at times! I mean, don't get me wrong! Howard's a cool and fun guy! He's the best thing that ever happened to Momma since me and Nevaeh but he had another thing coming if he thought that he could take my daddy's place! Can't no woman alive replace my momma and no man alive can never ever replace my daddy! "By the way Annah," He said to me. "You don't have to pick up Nevaeh, I'm on my way to pick her up right now."
"Oh, I have no problem getting her!" I exclaimed.
"No that's okay." said Howard. "You go ahead and start on your homework."
I didn't bother putting up a fight so I went ahead and started on my Geometry homework. I hated Geometry more than anything so I was hoping something would come along and pull me from my homework.
TAP, TAP, TAP, TAP.
It was Tyree knocking on my window. A great excuse to take a break from my homework I signaled him telling him to wait a minute for me to come outside. I walked outside and hugged Tyree before saying "Wassup Scrub?" as we pulled out of the hug. "Scrub?!" he said laughing at me. "Is that any way to greet your best friend?" "Why of course!" I said laughing along with him as we walked down the steps. I looked to see Caine talking on his phone and sitting outside on the porch at the house across the street from me. I looked at Tyree confused and said "He lives across the street from me too?!" He nodded.
"Damn what else did I not notice? How long has he lived over here?"
"About 5 months I think." Tyree explained to me as we sat on the steps leading up to my porch. Damn I was blinded by love. To not notice that this fine ass man went to school with me for the past 3 years, rode the same bus as me, and lived across the street from me. I must've been Boo Boo the Fool! I saw Caine hang up his phone and walked over to me and Tyree. Tyree and Caine slapped five and engaged in a short conversation and I just sat there waiting paitently to be introduced to Caine. "Aw, my bad Shawty" said Tyree apologizing to me for being so rude.
"Annah this Kendrick but everybody calls him Caine, Caine this is--"
"I know who she is." Caine said interrupting Tyree with his beautiful smile. "Everybody knows who Annah Taylor is"
I stood up of the steps and wiped off my butt then my hands. I smiled at Caine and said "Wassup?" "Nothing, yo' home boy decided to put me on you and I said why not she a lil baddy! I could use a girl like her." I laughed and said "Is that so?" looking at my bestfriend. "Yea, that's so." he replied. "Well I'll catch y'all later." Tyree said leaving us. He gave me a hug and slapped Caine five and went into his house next door to Caine.
Me and Caine talked for 20 minutes but it seemed like forever. The conversation wasn't dry for one second. We talked about the classes at Lane Wood and then some. I didn't realize how much we had in common. We were both smokers and drinkers, we both loved thug music like Yo Gotti and Meek Mill. We both loved to watch cartoons and both of our parents were divorced and re-married. It was like we were made to be together.
RING, RING, RING, RING
Caine's phone started going off just as our conversation was getting good. "Hold on one second." he said getting up off the steps. I nodded and let him converse with who ever he was talking to on the phone. I wasn't trying to eaves drop but I couldn't help it. I heard him saying something about a gram and a 40" so I figured he was in his "Thug mode" right now. He hung up the phone and faced me. "I have to go handle some business soon." he told me. "Oh, that's fine I understand." He reached out for a hug and I gave him one but when I was about to pull away he wouldn't let go so I stayed for a minute. "I don't want you to end up being a stranger again so can I get your number?" I smiled at him and said "Sure." He took his phone out his pocket and went to his phone book so I could enter my number. I typed it in and saved it under as Annah with a smile. He giggled and said "I'm finna send you a text right now and you better save my name as Caine" I rolled my eyes and laughed. "I'll think about it." I said with a smile. He laughed and asked if I could sit next to him on the bus tomorrow morning since he also rode that one too. Damn, could I have missed anything else about this boy? I told him I would and he walked across the street. I headed for my house and went back to doing my homework.
