Chapter 6: Can I Tell You Something

It's been an hour since I parted with Caine. He texted me when I was in the shower and I replied to it as I put my lotion and pajamas on. This man was so goofy. He was steady playing. He was talking so much s**t but all I could do was laugh. Sooner or later things went from playful to a bit serious. He kept saying how much he liked me already and I didn't want to believe it because I knew I was just gone end up hurt again. He asked me to give him a chance and I told him I would think about it.
KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK.
"Who is it?" I asked.
"Its Mommy." I heard a voice say.
"Come in."
She walked in my room and sat in my lounge chair that I had sitting at my desk. "Did you pick up Nevaeh today?"
I shook my head no. She looked a bit confused so I decided to tell her that Howard went and got her.
"Howard?" she questioned with a confused and yet scared look on her face.
I looked at her confused and nodded my head. "Yea Ma, that was almost an hour ago though. I'm sure they're both fine."
No later than a few seconds after that we heard the front door open and laughter. Momma sprint out my room like her name was Usain Bolt. I followed her walking towards the door where we met up with Nevaeh and Howard. Momma knelt down and hugged and kissed Nevaeh like she had left for the navy and it was her first day back from seas. We all looked at her confused at what was going on.
"WHERE THE HELL WERE YOU?!" She yelled looking at Nevaeh then Howard.
"I picked her up and we went to the mall and my jeweler to get your Valentine's Day present I got you." Howard explained.
She looked at the bags and boxes that they had and she still didn't looked pleased. Realizing she was still knealing on the ground she stood up and told me to take me and Nevaeh to our rooms. I followed her orders and did as she said. As I walked us to our rooms I heard Momma yelling at Howard and saying she don't want him taking me or Nevaeh anywhere without him informing her first. Nevaeh looked at me confused and I just shrugged my shoulders and told her to stay out of it. She nodded and went into her room as I went into mine. A few minutes later I heard someone knocking at my door once again.
"Come in." I said. To no surprise it was my Mother again. She sat next to me on my bed and said to me "The next time Howard asks or offers to pick up you or Nevaeh you call me and see if its ok. Other than that you tell his ass I said no and that YOU are picking her up! Do I make myself clear?" I looked at her confused but I nodded my head. You could look her in her eyes and tell that she was pissed. She calmed herself down and continued to speak.
"Can I tell you something?" she said calmly this time when she spoke. I nodded. She took a deep breath before she said "I love Howard to death do us part but I do not fully trust him with the two of you alone just yet." I looked at her confused. If she didn't trust him why did she marry him? Instead of questioning her I just nodded and said ok. She kissed my forehead and told me good night. I looked at my phone and saw that I had a text from Caine and smiled. I opened the text and read that he said he would save me a seat on the bus in the morning since he got on before I did.
I replied to him and continued to watch T.V. I decided to turn my T.V. up hella loud because I knew that since it was still Valentine's Day Howard and my mother was going to be f*****g and I ain't wanna here that s**t while I was trying to sleep. I don't see why they couldn't either get a hotel room for tonight or wait 'till the weekend to get a hotel room and f**k. I mean they had enough money to do exactly that! I guess they didn't feel like going through all that booking and fuckery with a hotel this year like they did last year. I was still confused when my mother said she didn't "fully" trust him with us then why did she stay with him for 2 years and decide to marry him? Now that I think about it, something did seem a little off about somebody in this house, but it wasn't Howard.
