High up the Oaktree is a sentinel’s lookout outpost. The outpost is a makeshift battlement fastened with sticks and stilts into the huge trunk of the tree. The Oaktree towers about fifty feet, high above the woods. It stands at a great height to overlook the woods, the river, and the creek beds. This sentinel’s outpost is built high up the Oaktree. Decks of battlements about seven feet wide are fastened in togetherness with the tree. These decks are built possible by the strength of wood and iron used to fasten planks amidst the strong tree branches, all around the corners of the tree.
