"Dad I hate this place so much," Kelly throws a fit on the phone.
"Language young lady!, watch your language!!," her father cautions her from the other end of the line about her obscene language.
"I'm sorry Dad, It's just that..." Kelly apologizes for her foul mouth. Kelly's father often says she has the mouth of an interstate trucker, those men cuss so much, cussing could be made a new official language.
"It's just that nobody here is like me, none of these rich kids understand me, I don't belong here, they don't even like me Dad..." Kelly continues complaining.
Kelly is at Camp Logan, in Tampa, Florida, for the summer. Her high school friends all went to different camps in different cities and states, went on vacation in Europe, the Caribbean, and, Mexico,o or took up summer jobs.
Kelly has two roommates; a blonde and a brunette, they have a friend from another room who visits them regularly, together three of them are the mean girls of Camp Logan.
Three mean girls are known for bullying the other kids at the camp, whom they feel are beneath them in class and status.
Kelly gets bullied for her physical looks and just wants to leave Camp Logan since her request to transfer rooms was not granted.
"Listen baby, Camp Logan is like a family heritage, both your mother and I went there for our summer breaks, as a matter of fact, that's where we met and love feet, who knows maybe you can also find love in Logan," her father tried to pacify her.
On Kelly's first day at Camp Logan, she had coffee thrown on her favorite sweatshirt on purpose by one of the mean girls, Karen.
Later that night, Kelly checks into her room only to realize that Karen, and one of the other two mean girls, Lucy, are her roommates. That was the day she knew it would be a very long summer.
"Dad I'm not you and Mom, I'm just not like you guys, I don't care how many generations of the family came here, I don't care if you both got married by the lake. I really don't care if you had your honeymoon here, I just don't like this place, it's not like the boys here are even good looking, the whole place just gives me the creeps, the boys here are too rambunctious and obnoxious, the girls are toucheth, and these rich kids don't care about anybody but themselves," kelly maintained her stance.
"You know what, I know exactly what to do since it's like you are just not listening to me, I'm in distress dad, nothing you'll say will comfort me, I think I'm going to run away..."
Her father cuts her off there, "Kels, Kels, do not try to do anything funny, I'm warning you darling, I will put the authorities' eyes all over you..." Kelly cuts the call on him, return in favor.
Kelly knowing her father's threats dolly holds weight when it concerns her, as a favorite child, she begins plotting and impinging discover Logan.
She would try escaping through a bus of new supplies that comes through to supply groceries and toiletries to the camp caretakers and staff.
***
It was a Saturday morning, the bus arrived by 7am and Kelly had been up since 5:30 am, waiting for it to arrive. She had planned every single detail of her escape.
She would run to the kitchen with her backpack full of essentials, get into the bus while it's almost completely off-loaded of the supplies, hide under a seat and make sure she's not seen until the driver gets out of the carom there she would know what to do. No one would notice she was gone, anyways. Not like she had friends that would care if she went missing.
When the bus arrived, the car drove towards the kitchen and the staff began offloading the goods from it. Kelly ran towards the bus, but careful enough to avoid any suspicions, except she didn't know that her roommates Karen and Lucy had suspected something and had gone through her backpack the night before.
They followed her as she snuck towards the bus, they dragged her through her backpack as she was about to climb into the bus, then the other mean girl Robeta went and reported to the authorities that Kelly was trying to run away and she was reported to her father and given a week's lock down, only allowed to be in her room, all day, even eating in there, for a whole week.
After the suspension, Kelly needed to find a way to stay away from these mean and inconsiderate people. She had had to help build folding bins near the lake as a punishment. The boys were obnoxious and she hated every single one of them, they would use any opportunity they got to bully Kelly. Although they were all from the same social class, some of these children consider themselves superior to others.
Kelly would get bored during working hours and wander close and closer into the woods, she would go kayaking in the lake, soak up the sun on the pier, and enjoy the cold breeze in the evenings, all by herself.
This became her routine even after her punishment period had elapsed. She would sneak away from everybody else and go sit at the pier and enjoy the evening setting sun and cool breeze, throw pebbles into the k,e, and sometimes go Kayaking by herself.
After the bus incident, Kelly had tried so many means of escape and they all failed, she often wondered if she could kayak to the ends of the land ake where would it take, but shook the idea out of her head after realizing she could kayak into dangerous waters, rapids, rushes or alligator infested waters, or even worse.
She then resigned to following her evening routines, which at least gave her some peace of mind amongst all the chaos around her.
At least for a few hours a day, she felt free and happy again, she felt like she had control over her life again, and she didn't have to deal with the obnoxious nature of Lucy, Karen, and Roberta.
Then the weeks flew by and the activities got more and more intense, Kelly had no interest in the talent content or the scavenger hunt or the fastheehe the Catheese, or the science fair, she was only counting down the days till she could leave the misery of Camp Logan all behind and never return.
Then something very unexpected happens
