The secretary sitting behind the desk was dressed in a nice skirt and blouse. The psychiatrist’s office was just on the edge of South Norfolk in a newer, renovated building, all steel and glass. For a minute, Eric was tempted to ask if they were in the right part of town. “He probably does pro bono work with the shelter,” Terri said as she wandered the waiting area, staring at the closed door. They were waiting to speak to Dr. Richard Blaney—or Rick for short, as Sister Carmen had indicated.
