The Main Bar

It’s Saturday night in the bar,lines of people at the bar and the music is pumping everything looks like their enjoying themselves.I working fast beside my work mates Carry,Rachel , Martin and Sam.Sam being duty Manager tell us what selection we’re working in.

I’m glad we have a good DJ makes working a bit more fun as It’s close to my break time I start dancing a little to the music while I work, a group of 4 rowdy men come into my selection of the bar and I can’t help but notice one of they’re all tall and handsome, one of them stand out more then the others His eyes are a beautiful hazel colour and with his nice tan his looks mouth watering.His eyes suddenly meet mine snapping out of it realising I’ve been caught sharing at him,my cheeks start to feel a bit hot.lucky it his mates are to busy looking what they should have. I laugh at myself as I start to ask the rest of them what they would like to drink,as I start to pouring their four drinks and shots to follow and one of them inducing himself

“hey beautiful, I’m Chris and we’re celebrating my birthday by any chance I get mine free or can I get you number instead”

“Well how about I just give you a free drink because You can’t have my number” i replied.I can feel a pair of eyes watching me and it think he’s name is a Alex for what I heard Chris called him.

“So why can’t I have your number?Jess” Chris asked reading my name tag and I see in the cornered eye Alex I looking at his friend and me “your not my type”I replied.

All of Chris’s friend start laughing at him at his failure to pick up the bartender.

“Have a good night guys and I’m sure you’ll have not problem finding some pretty girls tonight”I said as I start to go but Alex comes up “sorry about my friend I’m sure you get hint on all the time but I have to ask what is your type??”

Too shocked to respond,Eric arm is around my shoulder “hey Jess, Sam said to have your break now” I nodded in agreement. Eric turns his attention to Alex “Sorry bro she’s taken”I see Alex face fall then quickly recovers then smile and say “we’ll see,you never know what the future holds” I smiles back as I exited out the through the staff doors.

As soon I’m through the door into the break-area I start feeling guilty to be interested into a other man when I have a boyfriend.I quickly get my phone out of my locker to call Mark.It rings a while and as I think it’s going to go to voicemail he picks up

“hey, told on I’ll just step outside” I forgot he’s out with his friends again,as the background noise gets quieter.”hey babe how’s your night?” I ask “Good,me and the guys are having fun but wish you were here. How’s your night going baby?” He replied

“Work is good we have a good team tonight’s it makes it easier, and I know but we have tomorrow night together,we just have to get through tonight.” I say

“What time you finishing tonight?you think you might be able to pick us up?”he asked

“I don’t think so,I’ll be finishing till 4 earliest you’ll have to grab a taxi”I say

“ok sorry babe I have to go I guess I’ll see you tomorrow.love you” Mark suddenly said before he hangs up.I look at my phone thinking that was weird but think maybe he upset I working late again.

Seating in the back I got 20 minutes left of break before going back out there.the door swings open and Carry comes though the door,as she takes a seat she

“hey Jess they guys you serviced before your break are hot!what’s up with you?” as she sees me sharing at me phone

“nothing” I responded

“I know you’ve been a relationship with Mark a long time but don’t change who you are you make him happy” I look up at her

“I haven’t changed”I declared

“you’ve told me he doesn’t like the clothes you use to wear and even some of your friends you use to hang out with” I face her knowing she right about it “ I haven’t hung out with my old friends because I work here now and the have changed careers getting out of hospitality.Mark hasn’t done that” Carry just raised her eyebrow “ok and what about the taps he keeps on you?”

“ what you talking about?”I asked

“Oh come on,the first shift you did, he rang the bar asking when you’ll be finishing and the first shift you did in the bar he came in just to check what guy’s you work with and if anyone was hinting on you!” Carry stated.

“I know he can be a bit jealous sometimes and over protective but it comes for a good place”I try to justifying his actions

“if you say so, I’m just looking out for you”.she says

”I know and thanks,your a good friend”I tell her. It funny how in a few months me and some my work friends have become close.

“Well I better get back before Sam puts me on glass duty”I laugh

“I think those gorgeous guys you served before are still out there”she winks.

I just laugh as I walk back through the door going back into the bar and into the music it distracts from my thoughts about mark and focus on getting through the night.
