Chapter Eight - Cape Town

June 10, 1741         Thank God! Today we sailed into the Cape Town port. You cannot imagine how happy the people on this ship were. I swear some were ready to jump over the sides and swim the last mile.         Not much of a place to look at from the harbour. The dark skies did not help the feel of the day, but who cared? I just wanted to get off.         Later that afternoon we stood on the dock. We said our good-byes to the crew and the captain. We thanked him for all his hard work in bringing us here safely. When you were at sea for ninety-eight days, you made many friends. You became close to people. Yet here we were again saying good-bye. I longed for the day that I could lie in my own bed and not have to get up one day knowing that I had to move on again.          With the help
