At lunch, Dee and Sephi had gone out to eat lunch down the street. It was the first time they had not stayed at the center to eat, but today, they had a reason. Sephi had wanted to buy a gift for Ava. The little girl had cried earlier in the day because she had lost her long red hair due to the treatment for her brain tumor. Sephi had known precisely what to get her to make her feel better.
Sephi knocked lightly on Ava’s door before she pushed it open and went in. Ava was awake and smiling as she watched a movie. Everyone was thrilled that the girl was feeling better than she had the past couple of days.
“Hi, Sephi,” Ava said as she greeted her.
