Roxy and Sephi were in the middle of their morning rounds. At first, Ava’s care had been split between them. Now, Sephi had taken over entirely. Ava’s case broke Roxy’s heart, and Sephi wanted to protect her friend if she could. This morning, Ava had been doing well. However, that would not last, and they did not know how long that would be before it changed.
“How is our girl doing?” Roxy asked quietly.
Sephi smiled and answered, “She’s doing well today. She had breakfast and was playing one of the board games Melanie got for her with her mother. It’s good to see her feeling like this right now.”
“I hope when her time comes, it’s fast. I want her to be happy and then just go to sleep, and that be it. I don’t want her to linger,” Roxy said.
