Dee and Sephi were half-dozing on the sofa as they tried to watch a movie. They were jolted wide awake when his cell phone began to ring and vibrate on the coffee table. Dee scooped it up and looked at the screen to see it was a call for Melanie. He held his breath as he answered the call and placed the phone on speaker so Sephi could join the conversation.
“Melanie, are you alright? How did everything go?” Dee asked, giving his daughter no time to answer before the next question was asked.
Melanie laughed at her father’s worry. “I’m fine, Dad. Things with Yannis went perfectly and everyone can rest easy from now on.”
Dee let out an explosive breath. “Good. Is Darius with you now?”
“Yes. Where else would Darius be?”
“I was only checked,” Dee grinned.
