Rose, at dawn, notices a certain restlessness in her little angel. He was already ready and anxiously waiting to give his schedule to go with the driver and a security guard to the mall.
She is proud to see her son so independent. But he feels a tightness in his chest remembering Lavinia who is in New York with her friend Ethan Donald.
- Mom, is it time yet?
Your little one's sweet voice pulls you out of your thoughts when asking about the time for him to go to the mall.
Looking at his wristwatch which was the only gift she got from Peter who had never been broken or left in that house when he left, it marked the exact time for him to go buy what he had asked his mother at the mall.
Crouching down to her son's height, she smiles and strokes his hair as she stares at him and nods.
- Yes, my honey, it's time. I will go with you.
- Not! - He screams desperately for his mother.
Rose looks up suspiciously and crossing her arms over her chest, she asks him.
- Why not Mr. Kevin. What are you up to huh?
Pouting, he caresses his mother's face with a chubby, long-fingered hand.
- Mom, you promised I would go with the driver and Jorge. You don't need to go to the studio?
- Yes, but I'm going to the store I'm setting up in the mall and there's a studio where I'm going to work. You will be able to track your purchases without me.
Breathing in relief, he smiles at his mother and hugs her tight. She drops her arms from matching bust height.
- Good mother. I want to surprise you.
- Stew. You and Lavinia, as well as Ethan and your aunt, are my biggest surprises and best wishes.
Pulling away from the embrace, Kevin looks with bright eyes at his mother and asks expectantly.
- Mom, when are uncle Ethan and Lavinia coming here? I miss them a lot.
- Soon my dear. As soon as Lavinia gets a little healthier. Well, let's go then?
He nods and the two walk together hand in hand to the car. George and driver Travor, take the two to the mall. At the entrance, she says goodbye to her little boy, heading to the third floor where her store is being decorated and equipped, while Kevin after receiving several recommendations not only for him but also for George, the two follow to where he had scheduled with Peter.
Fifteen minutes after the appointment, Kevin was scowling at Peter's delay in arriving at the scheduled meeting and finally he appears. He's out of breath from hurriedly walking over.
Entering the restaurant where he is waiting for him, Peter looks around the place looking for someone. Kevin knew he was looking for his mother, but he was the one to find himself.
Before he could leave the place, Kevin hurried and walked towards him who saw Peter with a sad look because he thought he was too late and didn't see or speak with the woman he always loved. The sway in his pants made him look down and see that boy staring at him.
- But... - Before he could speak, Kevin interrupts him.
- It's me you came to talk Mr. Stevens. I made this appointment.
For such a precocious boy, talking like that drew a certain amount of admiration from Peter. He smiled and crouched down. He looked into that boy's eyes and saw himself in him at 5 years old. Her heart skipped a beat when she thought he might be her son. he asked.
- With me. Who are you and where are your parents?
- Yea. I want to talk to you Mr. Stevens. Shall we sit there? - Kevin points towards the table where he was sitting before asking him.
Trapped and feeling amused, he nods and as Kevin walks in front of him, he gets up and follows. When they arrive at the table, Kevin extends his hand showing the chair and how they are asked to sit down.
He shrugs with a smile and grants Kevin's request. The waiter arrives with a shot of whiskey for Peter and a juice for the little boy who stares at him. As soon as the waiter leaves them alone, he asks the boy.
- How do you know I drink whiskey?
- I know a lot about you. The question is, what do you know about me?
- Well, I don't know anything. By the way, what's your name?
- Kevin, Kevin Reeves.
Peter already imagined that he was Rose's son, only his name spoken with pride, confirmed that he was facing the little boy whose eyes deeply disturbed him since seen by photos.
- Is this some joke from your mother?
- My mom doesn't even know I'm here.
- And how did you end up here? Boy, you better say what you want, I don't have time for your mother's games using you.
- I don't know why my mother still cries for you. Now I see you're not worth it.
Shocked, he looks at the boy with open mouth in disbelief at such a young age having such a sharp tongue.
- What is it, you think I wanted to see you. I don't want to see you. I'm just here to demand that you stop making my mother cry.
- But I don't even talk to your mother.
- You always talk to her by email. And marrying a woman who was your undoing is low.
- Boy, better, Kevin, I don't know what you're talking about, but you're too young to understand adult things.
- Kevin!
A voice that both of them knew well, scolded that boy in front of Peter. It was Rose who is standing at the entrance of the restaurant with an aura full of despair, anger and fear.
His heavy, quick steps echo until she stops in front of them at the table. Kevin, wide-eyed and scared that he's been caught in the act, squirms in his chair. Peter is petrified looking at the woman he has always loved. She's peeking with rage that she hasn't even looked in her direction, only her son's direction.
- Kevin Reeves, what does this mean here. Let's go now, we'll talk at home, young man.
By taking his hand and taking him out of the chair, Rose prepares to leave the restaurant, when Peter blocks her way, still stunned.
- Rose, he called me and I thought it was you. If this is a theater for you to want to talk to me, you don't need that, you just need to look for me.
Her eyes red with anger, her heavy breathing, shows how much she is outraged by what he says. He still thinks badly of her, that was unacceptable.
- I don't want to talk to you and I wouldn't even use a child to try to get closer. What I want from you is distance.
Incredulous, he laughs with his hands on his hips.
- Serious?! What it is, you're so desperate for someone to assume paternity for your child that you force him to meet me so I'll accept him even though he's a bastard.
- I'm not a bastard. And I hate knowing that your blood runs through my veins. - Kevin speaks between teeth angrily.
-Kevin! - Rose scolds him with teary eyes.
He didn't imagine that his son knew the truth and that he didn't even come to meet Peter maybe for that.
Peter looks incredulous and heartbroken upon hearing that boy's words. He doesn't believe it's his son, but is he telling the truth? He needed to know.
"Rose..." His voice was hoarse and smothered the flame.
The eyes meet. With a questioning look on his face, when he saw her look away and he knew the way she did when caught up in something she was hiding, he had confirmation that that boy could be his son.
Without waiting for him not to let her out of there, she manages in her static moment that Peter finds himself by absorbing Kevin's words and Rose's look that confirmed what he said to him, she manages to leave.
Her legs weaken as soon as she leaves, he sits in the chair and everyone in the restaurant looks at him after witnessing the scene that took place there.
- How is it possible. Mom said she couldn't have kids. If it's really mine, I need to find out.
Reaching into his suit pocket, he pulls out his cell and calls the detective.
- I need you to find out everything about Rose Reeves' pregnancy, hospital and child birth. His name is Kevin.
Still stunned, he hangs up the phone and heads to his office after paying the restaurant bill. There, he has an unpleasant surprise.
- What are you doing here?
-Surprise!
