As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the city, Alex’s eyes locked onto Anna’s figure walking home from work. He’d been following her for days, studying her routine, and teaching her every move. The thrill of being so close, yet remaining invisible, sent a shiver down his spine.
Anna, oblivious to the danger lurking in the shadows, walked with a confident stride, her heels clicking on the pavement. Alax’s gaze lingered on her profile, and he felt a familiar pang in his chest. He’d been obsessed with her for what felt like eternity, and he’d do anything to making her notice him.
As Anna turned onto her street, Alex quickened his pace, careful not to get too close. He watched as she entered her apartment building, and he lingered in the shadows, his eyes fixed on her window. The lights flickered on, and Anna’s silhouette appeared, a vision he couldn’t look away from.
Alex’s obsession for Anna had been simmering for months, but it had reached a point. He’d been watching her every move, studying her routine, and learning her vulnerabilities. He knew her favourite coffee shop, her daily commute, and even her favourite books. And the thing was he literally realized he didn’t seem to know her while they dated for months.
One evening, Anna cam back to fine her apartment door slightly ajar. She was certain she’d locked it before leaving for work. A chill ran down her spine a she pushed the door open and called out “hello? Is anyone here?”.
The silence was oppressive. Anna’s hearts were racing. She steeped inside and locked the door behind her was single red rose and a coffee Table, accompanied by a note that read. “I’ve been waiting for you”.
Anna’s skin crawled. Who was doing this? She tried to shake off the feeling of being watched, but it only intensified. She checked her windows and doors, ensuring everything was secure, but the sense of vulnerability lingered.
As she settled into bed, Anna heard a faint knock in the door. It was soft, almost imperceptible. She froze, her ears straining to pick up any sound. The knock came again followed by eerie silence.
Anna’s instincts screamed at her to get out of there, but her legs felt heavy. She slowly got out of bed and approached the door, peering through the peephole. On the other side stood a figure in the shadows, their face obscured.
Suddenly, the figure vanished into the darkness. Anna’s breath caught in her throat. She knew she had to get help.
Anna’s hand trembled as she dialed Liam’s number. She needed someone she trusted to be with her. When Liam answered, Anna’s voice cracked as she tried to explain what happened.
“Hey, what’s wrong?”. Liam asked, concerned etched in his voice.
Anna took out time and recounted the events- the open door, the rose, the knock. Liam listened attentively, hi tone growing more serious with each passing moment.
“Stay inside, I’ll be right there,” Liam said firmly, “Don’t open the door for anyone until I arrive”.
Anna nodded, even though Liam couldn’t see her. She waited; her ears tuned to every sound outside her apartment. The minutes ticked by, and Anna’s anxiety grew.
When Liam arrived, he examined the door, and windows, checking for any signs of forced entry. He found a small hairpin on the door frame, which suggested that someone had picked the lock.
“I’m calling the police,” Liam said, his eyes scanning the apartment. “This isn’t just a prank anymore”.
As they waited for the police to arrive, Anna felt a mix of fear and relief. With Liam by her side, she felt safer, but the realization that someone had been in her apartment, watching her, sent shivers down her spine.
The police arrived, took statements, and dusted for fingerprints. As they left, one officer handed Anna a card. “If you notice anything do not hesitate to call us”.
Anna nodded feeling a sense of unease she knew she wasn’t safe, at least not until they caught the person behind this.
Anna’s determination grew as she watched the police leave her apartment. She was going to take matters into her own hands and uncover the identity of her stalker. Laim sensing her resolve, nodded in agreement. “I’ll help you, Anna. We’ll figure out who’s doing this and make them stop”.
Together, they started reviewing Anna’s daily routines, looking for any patterns or potential vulnerabilities. Anna mentioned her social media presence, and Liam suggested she review, her accounts for any suspicious activity.
As they scrolled, through Anna’s feeds, they noticed a peculiar comments on one of her recent posts.
“You’re so beautiful Anna” the comment seemed harmless, but the username caught their attention- “Alexwonderland”. Anna hadn’t noticed the comment before, but something about it sent a shiver down her spine.
“let’s dig deeper into this account,” Liam said, his eyes narrowing. “See if we can find any connections to our stalker.”
Anna’s eyes locked onto the screen as Liam began to investigate the Alex wonderland account. What would they find
“I think we can Ough her social media accounts. After a few I figure out the connection between Alexwonderland and your online presence
Anna pulled out her phone and started searching through her social media accounts. After a few minutes, she gasped “Liam, look at this!”
As Anna scrolled through her social media accounts, she suddenly stopped at a post from an old friend, Rachel. Rachel has tagged Anna in a photo from a mutual friends’ birthday party a year ago. And there, in this comment section, Anna saw a comment from Alexwonderland.
“Hey, Anna, you’re looking great!” the comment read.
Anna’s eyes widened as she showed a post to Liam.” Look at this! Slingerland commented on a post from a year ago. Maybe we can track down Rachel and see if she knows anything about this account.”
Liam nodded, and together they sent Rachel a message asking her to meet up and discuss the Alex wonderland account.
The next day, Anna and Liam met Rachel at a coffee shop. Rachel seemed puzzled by the account but mentioned that she had noticed some strange messages from Alex wonderland a few months ago.
“I thought it was just a spam account” Rachel said. “But now that you mention it, it messages did seem kind of… personal”
Anna’s eyes locked onto Rachel’s. “What did the message say?”.
Rachel hesitated before pulling out her phone. “Let me show you”
As Rachel scrolled through her messages, Anna’s heart sank. The messages from Alex wonderland were indeed personal and creepy.
Suddenly, Liam’s eyes lit up. “I think I can track down the IP address of the device that sent these messages.”
With the newfound determination, Liam started working on tracing the IP address. After a few tense moments, he finally got a hit.
“It looks like the IP address is registered to. an internet café downtown,” Liam said, his eyes narrowing.
Anna’s eyes sparked with hope. “let’s go there and see if we can find any leads.”
Anna and the rest of the gang hopped into Liam’s car headed straight to the café. On getting there, Anna got off immediately, opening the door to the café with so much worry in her eyes looking for the person in charge.
She walked briskly towards the counter “Gooday ma’am we…” Anna got cut off by Liam who seemed to ask her to calm down. He continued instead. “Hello please we need your help with something we are making an investigation about something is it okay if w takes a look at a few photos or camera footages from the security camera?” Liam said with so much hope in his voice.
The barista looked a bit confused and hesitated “I’m so sorry I cannot give you access to that information, it’s against the store’s policy”.
Anna had no option but to plead with her “please my life depends on this I’ll be forever grateful if you can just help me with this”.
The barista had no option but to let in. She gave them access to the back where she opened a few footages from the past weeks.
“Thank you, thank you so very much”. The three of them thanked her Individually “you’re welcome but you have to hurry before my boss comes in” she said as she headed out.
Liam went straight work; he began to open and play the footages. As they watched the footage, they notice the person using the computer around the time the messages were sent. The figure was partially obscured, but they could see a glimpse of a hand with a distinctive ring.
Liam’s eyes lit up. “I think I can enhance the footage so we can get a better view of the ring.”
After enhancing the footage, they were able to get a clearer view of the ring. It had a unique design- a snake coiled around a crescent moon.
Anna’s eyes widened.” I’ve seen that ring before. It’s distinctive. Let’s ask around and see if anyone recognizes it.”
As they left the internet café, Anna felt a sense of determination.
As they walked of the internet cafe, Alex pulled out his phone and started searching for images of similar rings. Anna walked beside him, her mind racing with possibilities.
Anna’s eyes widened. “let’s go there and ask anyone if the remember selling a ring like this.”
They hailed a taxi and headed downtown. When they arrived at the shop, they were greeted by the owner, an elderly woman with a kind smile
Liam showed her the Liam image on his phone. “Do you recognise this ring?”
“Yes, I do I sold it to a tall man with a huge build”. The owner said.
Anna and Liam exchanged glances. With each new discovery, Anna’s unease grew. She started to piece together the events and realized that Alex’s behaviour had been escalating. The gifts, the messages, the break-in, the username – it all pointed to Alex.
As the truth dawned on Anna, she felt a chill run down her spine. She turned to Liam, her voice barely above a whisper. “I think I know who it is. I think it’s Alex.”
Liam’s eyes locked ionomers, his expression intense. “let’s get to the bottom of this, Anna. We need to confront Alex and Ut an end to this.”
Anna steeled her self ready to face the truth, she was about to confront the person who had been stalking her, and she knew it wouldn’t be easy.
