Anna and Liam’s conversations continued, and she found herself looking forward to his texts and calls. She was starting to feel a connection with him that she hadn’t felt in a long time.
One evening, as they were chatting over the phone, Liam mentioned that he was heading out to meet some friends. “I’m grabbing drinks with Alex and some others,” he said casually.
Anna’s heart skipped a beat. “Alex?” she repeated, trying to keep her tone neutral.
“Yeah, my buddy from college, Liam replied. “We’ve known each other for years.”.
Anna’s mind reeled. Alex was Liam’s friend? Why hadn’t he mentioned it before?
How come she never knew or came across him when she was with Alex, this question kept echoing. “Anna are you okay? Liam asked, noticing the pause.
“Yeah, I’m fine,” Anna replied, trying to compose herself. “Just surprised, that’s all”.
As they wrapped up their conversation, Anna couldn’t shake off the feeling that her world had been turned upside down. She started to wonder if Liam’s friendship with Alex was a coincidence or if there was more to it.
Anna’s thoughts began to spin with possibilities. She thought about how she could use this information to her advantage. Maybe, just maybe, she could use Liam to make Alex jealous. The thought sent a thrill through her veins.
Anna started to formulate a plan. She could continue to see Liam, but with a purpose. She would make Alex see what he was missing, and she would do it with style.
This new development adds a layer of complexity to Anna’s story. She’s no longer just healing from her breakup; she’s also seeking revenge. Let’s see how this plays out.
The next day, Anna texted Liam with plans to go see a movie with his friends. Liam agreed to meet at the front of their city’s cinema. As Anna got ready for their meeting, she felt a sense of excitement mixed with nervousness. She couldn’t believe that Liam the guy she had begun to develop feelings for was Alex’s friend. It was like a cruel joke. But Anna was determined to use this situation to her advantage. She would make Alex jealous, and she would do it with Liam by her side.
As Anna arrived at the entrance of the cinema was welcomed by a group of fine men. Liam introduced his friends to Anna and when it was Alex’s turn, she just exchanged a handshake with no mode of eye contact. Alex wouldn’t let go of her hand because he was still trying to process what was in front of him and how and why. Anyways, the gang walked into the cinema, grabbed their pop corns and headed straight to the, movie theatre.
As the movie went on, Anna leaned on Liam’s shoulders. Alex who was sited just behind them in the theatre squinted his eyes with jealousy. He just couldn’t imagine how fast Anna had moved on.
One of Liam’s friends Kevin, screamed at the scene that was displayed on the theatre screen “oh my goodness Liam are you seeing this?” they all laughed.
The movie ended shortly, everyone headed out with smiles on their faces, Anna, on the other hand held unto Liam’s arms. Liam mentioned that they should all grab dinner together that night.
The game was on, and Anna was ready to play. She was determined to make Alex regret ever cheating on her.
As the evening went on, Anna made sure she kept the conversation flirtatious with Liam. She could tell he was enjoying her company, and she was determined to keep him interested.
Meanwhile, Alex seemed uncomfortable. He tried to play it cool, but Anna could see the tension in his shoulders and the way he avoided eye contact.
As the night wore on, Liam’s friends began to make their excuses and leave. Alex was the last to go, and Anna could sense the reluctance in his steps.
“It was nice meeting you Anna,” Alex said, his voice tight.
Anna smiled “Likewise Alex”.
As Alex left, Liam turned to Anna and smiled. I’m glad I could introduce you to my friends. You’re amazing.
Anna’s heart skipped a beat. She wasn’t sure if she was ready to admit it to herself, but she was starting to enjoy Liam’s company. And she knew that would only make her plan effective.
“Thanks Liam,” Anna said, smiling at him. “I’m having a great time getting to know you better. She stared a while into his eyes and knew she had him where she wanted… or did she?
As the night came close, Liam offered to give Anna a ride home. The ride was smooth, and the two kept chatting as they were on their way. Finally, Liam arrived in front of Anna’s apartment, and Anna came down waving. And just as she turned her back towards the entrance of her door, Liam received a text message from Alex, “We need to talk.”
Liam hesitated for a moment because he didn’t understand what the text was about. He drove swiftly to his apartment of which Alex was cited on the couch comfortably taking a sip of wine out of a glass which he served himself.
“Dude, what the heck did I see your text, are you okay?” Liam asked, sounding worried.
Dropping the wine glass on the coaster, Alex responded “what were you thinking about going out with my ex?”. Liam seemed to be stunned at the sudden outburst. “Uhm what are you talking about Alex? be specific, I don’t seem to get what you are saying.” Alex took a deep breath and let it out slowly. “Anna is my ex-girlfriend Liam, the one I spoke to you about? Who caught me cheating?”.
At that point, Liam’s world seems to have frozen. He just couldn’t believe what he heard about Anna. He looked at Alex and said so if I’m correct, you seemed to tell me you were dating Anna. How come she never mentioned it”.
Liam took a seat on the couch, with his hands on his head. He just couldn’t believe Anna used him to make Alex jealous. “This explains everything”. How could Anna do this to me?
While he pondered on the situation, he found himself in it. Alex walked out the door, slamming it shut.
Liam quickly grabbed his phone ready to call Anna, but something held him back. Indeed, revenge was forming a full circle.
Liam had a thought instead, “You know? I can actually make Anna pay for this. Why would she toy with my emotions that way? All for petty revenge on Alex?”. Liam said. “No, she must know how this feels too”. He concluded.
Liam was now on a journey to make sure Anna knew how painful it felt. But Anna, on the other hand, was fantasizing over the fun she had, making Alex jealous.
As expected, Alex messaged her that same night. “What’s going on with you and Liam?” he said, trying to sound as casual as possible.
Anna played it cool. “Just hanging out with my friend” she replied.
But Alex wasn’t buying it. “You are really moving on very fast,” he texted back, with a hint of jealousy hovering over his message.
Anna smiled at her phone screen. That was exactly what she wanted. “I’m just living my life”, she said, leaving it at that.
The game was on, and Anna was enjoying every minute of it. But little did she know things were about to get more complicated….
