"Father! You're awake!"
I was happy to see him open his eyes as soon as I entered the guest room of the Shadow pack Alpha house. But my smile immediately faded when I noticed that his face was void of emotion as he looked at me in recognition.
"Where is Alpha Daemon?" His eyes looked around and behind me.
"He went out early today, Aunt Samara said they were busy. They have to secure the borders to avoid something like the last time."
He drew out a heavy breath. "The Alpha of the Dark River was eliminated, but our heavy loss won't be retrieved, Arriane."
I sat beside him on the bed and held his hands. The aura of power and strength he possesses as an Alpha King is gone.
