Chapter 9 – Cruel Fate

995 Words
The wounds on my back were still not healed all the way but I was able to function enough to start my chores today. I am grateful for Landi and Theo, but they can only protect me from Asher’s rath for so long. Maybe if I keep my head down and do what I am told I’ll be given less chores for the next couple days. “Try to take it easy today. Love you little one.” Theo said as we headed out the door and he went to train, and I went to the first floor to start my chores. I went and got my supplies to start mopping the floor when someone slapped me on the back. “Look who finally decided not to be lazy.” I winced at the pain but schooled my face before I turned around to face Andrea. Andrea is a nasty she-wolf that has had her eyes on Asher. She wants Asher to choose her as his mate so she can be Luna of the pack. She would make a horrible Luna. She doesn’t care for anyone but herself and makes everyone’s life miserable because she thinks Asher loves her but she’s an easy f**k and that is the only reason he keeps her around. I have told her a hundred times I have no interest in Asher and If he would stay away from me, I would be happy. She always laughs and says, “why would he be interested in you?” But I can see that she is insecure that Asher will stop using her because of me. “Good morning, Andrea, please excuse me I have to get my chores done.” I kept my head low in hopes that she would leave me alone. She grabbed my arm before I could get away. “Where have you been?” She growled. “In the dungeon.” She released my arm and smirked. “Good, filth like you deserves to be in the dungeon.” With that she walked away from me. Thank Goddess I didn’t have the energy to deal with Andrea right now. As I continued to clean the first floor, I could feel pack members looking at me with disgust. I never understood why everyone here hates me so much. “Zen, why is this whole pack so horrible?” “Shows what bad leadership can lead to.” Zen spoke for the first time all day but I could feel something was bothering her. She was more anxious than usual. “Zen, what’s wrong?” “I feel something bad is going to happen today.” “Like, what?” “I don’t know yet Ann but be ready.” With that Zen went quite again but I could feel her observing everything around us more than usual and it was starting to put me on edge to. I finished the first floor and started in the meeting rooms on the second floor. When I was cleaning the meeting room all the high-ranking members use to discuss pack matters, I kept smelling something amazing. It smelt like fresh cut grass and rain. “Ann, I am so sorry.” “For what Zen?” “I was hoping I was wrong but Elmar, Asher’s wolf, just confirmed we are mates” Zen said in a sad voice. “Why does the Moon Goddess hate me so much?” I said as I was trying to control my sobs. “Ann, listen carefully. We only have a chance for this to work. When you see Asher you need to reject him and run the second he accepts it.” “But he won’t accept it.” “I talked to Elmer, and he will take control and accept our rejection.” “But why would his wolf do that?” “Because Elmer is a good wolf and loves us very much and doesn’t want to see us in pain at Asher’s hands.” “Is this the only way?” “Yes Ann, Elmer said that he starting to lose control of Asher. Elmer has been trying to tell Asher what he is doing is wrong, but Asher hasn’t been listening to him. If he marks us, he will have more control over us, and we won’t be able to escape. Elmer has accepted this and so have I. One day Asher will get what he deserves, and Elmer will be released to find a human that is more deserving.” “Wait, you can be granted a new human counterpart?” “Yes, once our human counterpart goes to the afterlife if we are worthy and decide that we want to we can be given to another human. We can discuss this at another time. We have to focus on saving ourselves first.” Zen said in a defeated voice. “I’m so sorry, Zen. I wish things were different, and you could be with your mate.” “Thanks Ann nothing we can control. Faith has a way of leading us to the correct path. Let’s just get through this. Let’s go over the plan again. In order to reject Asher, you need to say I Annaleena Rose reject you Asher Franen, future Alpha of the Black Meadow Pack as my fated mate. You have to say those exact words while looking in his eyes. Make sure you are clear and quick Elmer can only hold control for so long. Keep eye contact until he accepts the rejection. Once he accepts our rejection you need to run North as fast as you can. Elmer isn’t going to take away any of the pain from Asher, so he won’t be able to come after us at first. I also already told Titan, Theo’s wolf, and they will try to stall as long as they can. Now let’s go find our mate.” Zen said with a whimper.
