As I was carefully washing all Lenie’s wounds, I was brought back to the day Asher brought Lenie back from the dungeon and threw her into my arms like she meant nothing. It was the worse day of my life. She weighed nothing and was barely alive and I could tell she was losing her will to live.
I was having a hard time not ripping Asher’s head off until I heard her whimper in my arms, and I knew now was not the time. So, I held her closer to me to give her the little comfort I could.
After Asher left mom turned to me and gave me a look saying we needed to work fast to save her life.
“Lenie, honey stay with me. We need to get you clean and mom’s not strong enough. I need your permission to wash you.” I said to Lenie in the most soothing tone I could. I want her permission to bathe her even if it was to wash her wounds. She slowly nodded her head and went unconscious again.
I looked over at mom in the kitchen for directions. “Get her in the shower, not a bath it will make the infection worse. I have a set of clean clothes in the bathroom for her. I know you don’t want to violate her privacy, but I am not strong enough anymore to do it and I need to gather supplies to get her stable. Now wash her wounds in this. She shouldn’t feel a thing so make sure you get all the grim off them.” Mom patted my shoulder with knowing eyes and went back to work.
I have loved Annaleena since the day I met her. Not in a romantic way but in the way that I would do anything to protect her. I won’t know if she is my mate until she gets her wolf, but I don’t believe we are because it is not that kind of connection. My wolf, Titan, feels the same way. He doesn’t think we are mates but there is a connection there that we cannot figure out just yet. I have a strong urge to always protect her and when she is in pain my heart breaks a little and I feel like I have failed her.
I carried her into the bathroom and carefully removed her clothes, trying to only look at what I was doing and nothing else. The least I could do was provide her with as much privacy as possible. I climbed into the shower with her even though I was fully clothed and slowly started to wash off the dried blood. I was in complete shock by the sight I saw I have never seen someone survive something this brutal.
“It’s okay little one I have you. You can rest now.” I soothed her when she was whimpering. I was hoping she would pass out before I started to clean the wounds on her back. The Moon Goddess must be watching over me and answering my prayers because soon after she was completely out, and I was able to clean her wounds.
Once I examined all the open gashes on her back, I was amazed that she was still alive. I have never seen anything this horrific in my life. Asher is one sick fucker. He even carved his name on her lower back, or should I say had someone carve it for him because he isn’t man enough to do his own evil and orders someone else to. I know she will lose it when she sees his name permanently on her body so I am planning on keeping it from her for as long as I can. She has bigger things to worry about. Her back looks like it went through a meat processor.
I really need to get her out of this place, but I can’t leave mom behind, and I don’t think she will survive escaping. I need to make sure she understands that she has to escape without us.
Her voice pulled me out of my thoughts. “Theo, what’s wrong? Is it that bad?”
I turned away from her back so she could get dressed. “It’s bad but nothing you can’t handle. He Annalenna can we talk?”
She put her hand on my shoulder to let me know I could turn around. “Of course, Theo. What’s going on?”
I motioned for her to sit on the bench while I kneeled in front of her and took her hands in mine. “Little one I need you to promise me the moment you can escape you will. I don’t know how much more of this torture you can handle. I will help you in any way I can but if you see a window you need to take it, understand? Don’t worry about us.”
I could see the tears in her eyes as she shook her head back and forth.
“Listen Lenie, mom won’t survive an escape. She is not as strong as she used to be, and I need to stay here to protect her. I know you are strong enough to get out of here. You can always find help and come back for us. We are not treated as bad as you are and we will be ok, I promise.”
I could see her thinking over my words. “But. . . But”
“No Little one, it is for the best. If you see a window you take it! I will also think of a plan to get you out of here, but it might take some time. I need you to be safe!”
“Okay Theo, if I see an opportunity to escape, I’ll take it but I am coming back for you and Landi. I won’t be able to survive without the two of you. You mean the world to me.”
I hugged her carefully so as not to hurt her, “I feel the same. Now let’s go get some food before mom gets mad at us.”
When we walked into the kitchen mom had something delicious on the counter for us and I heard Lenie’s stomach growl at the smell.
“Food soon, let’s get this paste and wrap on your back so it can heal faster. It won’t take long, and you can eat as much food as you want.” Mom said as she instructed Annaleena to hug the back of the chair while she looked at her back.
When mom started to put paste over the wounds she stopped over Asher’s name and gave me the look. Did you tell her yet? I shook my head, no. I could tell mom was not happy with my decision, but she didn’t say anything to Lenie, not yet at least.
After she was all wrapped up, I could tell the paste was working because she relaxed instantly and started to devour her food.
For the next couple of days, we changed her bandage and applied new paste to her wounds. I was happy it started to heal a little, but it was not perfect. She shouldn’t be returning to work, but Asher demanded she return after a week so tomorrow Lenie will be going back. I wish I could just keep her safe here, but I am not strong enough to challenge the Alpha yet. My only hope is to become strong enough to take him down or she manages to escape soon.
