Chapter 10 – Rejection

974 Words
I took a deep breath and headed to the third floor in search of Asher. It wasn’t hard to find him because I could smell him better now. Before I could make it to his door it swung open, and Asher stood there with only a pair of boxes on, and I could hear a she-wolf yelling for him. “Now Ann! Now!” Zena growled out. I looked him in the eyes and said “I Annaleena Rose reject you Asher Franen, future Alpha of the Black Meadow Pack as my fated mate.” “NO!” Asher yelled but it was to late Elmer already took over. “I’m sorry, I love you. I Elmer wolf of Asher Franen accept your reject as my fated mate. Now run!” I turned and ran as Asher fell to the floor and howled in pain. I heard Andrea yelling at me asking me what I did. So, she was the bimbo that was in the room with Asher when he found out I was his mate. The idea made me a little sad, but I couldn’t let any of that bother me right now, so I didn’t respond to that horrible she-wolf. Good they are perfect for each other. Equally horrible. I had to be fast, everyone in the pack house must have heard Asher howling in pain from the rejection. I was wondering why I didn’t feel any pain from the rejection, but I didn’t have time to think about it. I have to make it to the border before anyone catches me. I didn’t stop for anything. I made it down the steps in record time only tripping and falling a couple times because I am so nervous. I made it out the front door of the pack house and started running North like Zena said. Pack members started blocking my way and giving me strange looks. I was trying to push past them before one informed a guard of my escape. Please just move! Just when I thought they would grab me I heard a loud explosion coming from the training grounds that got the attention of everyone. Pack members started I didn’t slow down to see what was going on, I assumed it was Theo and his distraction. I slowed down a step. I’m going to miss him a lot, what if he can come with me? “ANN, FOCUS! I won’t be able to communicate much longer. Theo knows and we will come back for him and Landi when we can. NOW run don’t look back!” Zen yelled at me and then went silent. She is right, we will come back for Theo and Landi. I need to worry about getting out of here alive. I started to feel hope that I was going to make it out of here because I could see the border. That hope was short lived because three guards spotted me and started running my way. I turned and ran towards the sound of water. Maybe I can lose them in the stream? When I got close to the stream, I didn’t see the drop off and fell off and started falling towards the stream. I was rolling, flipping, and bouncing off rocks the entire way down. I believe I hit my head, broke my arm, couple ribs, and I could feel the wounds on my back reopen but I didn’t care I needed to get out of here. I have been in worse condition. I staggered back to my feet using trees to support me. I could hear the warriors yelling to get some rope. This was my opportunity to get out of here so I started running South so I could confuse my followers. Once I get a way down, I’ll climb in the river and head North so they can’t track my sent. Pain was shooting through my body from my broken ribs, but I ignored it and pushed myself to run faster. This is nothing, if they catch me, they will murder me. Once I got farther down, I climbed into the stream. The water was cold and eased the burning pain in my back. I started heading North as fast as I could in the water, but it was slowing me down. I traveled by river for what felt like hours, I was freezing, and I hoped I was far enough away by now that they wouldn’t catch my scent as I climbed out of the river. I didn’t waste any time and started running again. Night was approaching and I was exhausted but it wasn’t safe to stop just yet, so I slowed down to a jog and continued through the night. My body has become numb and so has my brain. I think I drifted off a couple of times because I woke up when I hit the ground. I was brought back when I heard movement behind me and got another burst of energy and started running again. I didn’t get to far before I heard Zens voice. “I’m sorry Zen we used too much energy. I can’t hold it anymore, be strong. I need rest.” Zen said before she went silent again. I couldn’t ask what she meant before I was hit with more pain than I have ever felt in my life. It felt like someone was ripping out my heart. I howled in pain and collapsed to the ground. I felt the presence of people around me, but I was in too much pain to care or fight back. I was rolling on the ground begging someone to make the pain stop. Finally, the pain and exhaustion were too much, and everything went black, but before it did, I could see a large figure slowly moving towards me. Please help.
