Chapter 9

Aria–

“What!!”

“What's wrong?” Cynthia asked.

“You just said something about us leaving soon to the Bloodmoon pack when Lucian assigns a new Alpha,” I asked as I felt my heart race faster.

“Yes,we will both be leaving soon,” she said, smiling, thinking this news would bring me joy.

“Hmph,” I gasped aloud

Well,I soon realised it wasn't actually bad news. I would like to start afresh in a new pack and meet new people.

“When will that be?” I smiled faintly.

“Soon,I'm not sure when.”

“Okay,” I responded.

“Aria,you have a new plan,” I heard Helana in my head.

“Yes. It just came to my head,I think it will be best for us,” I assured her.

“What of Mrs. Clara?” She asked me and my heart sank to my belly. I would miss her.

“I will always visit her from time to time.”

I felt she said that for me to change my mind but why? She's the one that is obsessed with Lucian,she should be happy we would be leaving to the pack soon.

“Okay,I understand you,” Helana said,I wasn't expecting that.

“Thank you for understanding,” I mind linked.

“You're welcome. I think Cynthia wants to speak to you.”

I turned and caught Cynthia staring at me,she probably didn't want to interrupt my conversation with my wolf.

“Sorry,I was speaking to my wolf,” I apologised. I noticed she looked worried. “What's wrong?”

“I don't want to leave my family here,” she said,tears finding their way through her eyes,and down her cheeks.

I pitied her,but I couldn't imagine what it would feel like to leave family behind because I didn't have one.

“Don’y worry, everything will be alright,” I told her, “You don't need to be sad my dear,your mate is kind,he will allow them to visit you or you visit them” I added.

It looked like a bell rang in her head,she wasn't suddenly drifted out of her sadness. “Thank you,Aria,I hadn't even thought of that,” she remarked, “I would inform him about it before we leave,just to get his reaction.”

“It's alright,I'm happy to help,” I said, smiling.

We talked for almost two hours,and I had come to discover that Cynthia was actually a very nice and caring person.

“I had always wanted to be your friend but I couldn't because of the way the other wolves acted. Who knew you were the Luna of all the werewolves,” she teased.

“Yeah,” I muttered, “the moon goddess is full of surprises you know,” I said, stretching my legs out because I had been sitting for a long time and they were feeling funny.

But why would the moon goddess even choose someone like me to lead the whole kingdom? I was weak and couldn't even direct my own thoughts.

“They maids in the kitchen talk about you all day,they still can't believe it,”she spilled, “some say they wished they had treated you better.”

“Really?”

“Yes,” she answered.

Little did they know,I wanted to be in their position.

I brought my walls up,so Lucian couldn't hear my thoughts. He heard my thoughts the day I was in his room,I heard that from a maid in the kitchen but I wonder where she got the information from.

A knock came from the door and I knew who it was.

It was Lucian,I knew that from his scent. I knew he knew I'm not asleep,what would I do next?

Cynthia's hair swayed as she went over to the big wooden door, “The Alpha is knocking,Luna,” she informed me,but I knew already.

My palms began to sweat from the thought of him entering into my room and me seeing him.

His bold figure could be seen as she opened the door.

“Excuse me,Luna and Alpha,” she left me,all alone,with the man I feared.

I heard him ask from the door, “Can I come in?”

“Y-Yes,” I stuttered.

He looked unkept but I couldn't keep myself from noticing how handsome he was. His beard had grown since the last time I saw him,his hair looked disheveled and he had dark circles under his eyes yet his eyes were still majestic.

Focus,Aria. Why was I concentrating on how he looked. I heard Lucian chuckle and it dragged me out of my thoughts. s**t,I wanted to be swallowed by the earth. I got lost in thought frequently and I think people might have started noticing

“I asked of you today, your maid said you were asleep,” he said, standing by my bedside.

“Yes,she told me.”

“I just wanted to inform you that we will be leaving as soon as I appoint an Alpha for this pack,” he muttered huskily. I just nodded in acknowledgement.

“Lunch is ready by the way,can we go to the dining table?”

I cannot reject the offer,he came himself.

I got up and began to walk towards the door. I walked out the room and into the elevator,he tailed behind me then got in immediately I did. He pressed the button for the ground floor.

I could hear him breathe as we stood side by side. The lights in the elevator began to shake,going on and off.

I panicked, “What's happening?”

“Nothing is happening,just breathe,breathe,” Lucian said as he held me in his embrace. I had not realised I had scurried into his arms out of fear. Oh my!

“Its okay, nothing is wrong,it will be over soon,” he assured, running fingers through my hair.

The only thing I was focused on was his smell and his caress on my hair. It made me calm down at once.

I was in his arms for a while and the lights became stable agian. I came out of his embrace and immediately the elevator door opened. I walked out and the voices of people came from the dining hall.

“Luna,” I heard and everyone rose to their feet. This was why I hated joining them.

“Please,sit,” I murmured shyly,but it was loud enough for them to hear.

I was supposed to sit by Lucian. I sat in my seat and noticed everyone was still on their feet. Why? I woke immediately from the chair.

“You can sit,” Lucian turned to me and said.

What tradition was this?

When Lucian sat, they all sat down too. Ohh,they were waiting for him. I told them to sit when they were waiting for the Alpha. That was embarrassing.

“How have you been,Aria?” Catherine asked, smiling at me.

“I'm good, thank you.”

An omega brought over the food and served it on our plates. I looked around and everyone had started eating so I started eating as well. I loved the taste of the food, especially the cheese.

“Mmmmm” I heard Lucian humed beside me.

I realized I had made when I had had my first bite.

Throughout lunch I was so quiet and couldn't wait for it to be over.

I placed my plate on Cynthia's tray and exited the room quickly.

I missed Caleb so I decided to go see him. The sun was out and it beamed refreshing rays onto my skin. People around were going through their day with smiles on their face,I was greeted by some of them.

The trees were flourishing and the children were playing under them. I felt a calm aura around me. The orphanage came into view and I could see the children running around. I spotted Caleb in their midst, laughing and playing.

I entered and when he spotted me,he ran to mean me, hugging my leg with his little hand. I picked him up and he gave me a kiss on my cheek which I wasn't expecting.

“You came,Aria!”

“Yes,I told you I would,you little sweet boy,”I said, hugging him tightly. “I keep my promises.”

“Luna,” I looked up and it was the three women who worked in the orphanage taking care of the children.

“Hello,” I greeted them.

“Caleb has been asking about you ever since the day you came,” the brunette lady said to me. I think she was the head.

“Wow, really?”

“Yes,”she nodded and I felt happy,the child really missed me. I wish I could have taken him with me but that could not be possible.

“Aria,let's go inside, I want to show you something,” he voiced, reaching to be placed back on the ground.

“Caleb,apologize. Call her Luna Aria,” the brunette cautioned.

“It's fine. I told him to call me Aria,” I informed her.

Caleb held my hand as we walked into the orphanage. I wondered what he wanted to show me. He opened the door to his dormitory. “Sit,Aria,” he gestured to his bed as he went to get what he wanted to show me.

He returned. “This is for you,” he placed a folded paper in my hand. I opened it and it was a drawing of me and Lucian,I knew that because he had written ‘Alpha’ and ‘Luna' below the drawings.

“This is you,the Luna and this is the kind man that brought us all those cool toys and storybooks,”he told me as he pointed at the pictures on the paper.

“It is beautiful.”

“ You can show it to him too,” he said,I couldn't refuse that face,so cute and innocent.

“Okay,I will do that,” I responded and his smile became even broader, revealing a dimple on each side of his face.

“Let's go play,” I raised a suggestion.

“We exited the dormitory and entered the play area.

Caleb jumped onto the swing. “Push me,Aria!”

He was so full of energy and I was already tired in just ten minutes.

“Push,Aria.”

“I'm coming dear,let me just catch my breath,” I said to him.

“What's wrong?” He asked,his smile fading,giving way to a frown on his face.

“I just need to rest a bit,” I said as I began to walk over to the bench under a large tree there.

“Okay,when you're all better you will push me again right?”

“Yes,I will do-”

I was grabbed by someone before I could complete my answer. I knew that scent. It was Lucian. I became stiff and he was breathing heavily. He drew me into his arms, giving me a tight hug. Why was he hugging me at that time in the orphanage? His breath tingled at the nook of my neck.

“Don't disappear like that again mate.”
