The New Werewolf

Sherry wakes up with the sun rays blonding her eyes. She immediately checks her left shoulder for a bite mark. There's nothing in there but she can still feel a little pain when she touches the skin. She didn't know what to think about what happened last night. Was it just a dream?

She checks herself and realizes that she is still wearing the same outfit from last night. How did she get home from her night out? She had no recollection of getting inside the gate of her building. But here she was fine and unscathed. Maybe it was just all a dream after all!

Her bag fell from the nightstand and it looks so dirty. She grabbed it and checked it closely. It's no longer that pretty from what she remembered last night. She just bought it last week and she only used it for her night out.

Something feels wrong about last night. How come she doesn't even have a scratch while her bag looks damaged? She was bitten by a creature and she can still remember how its fangs felt. But why does the skin on her shoulders doesn't show any sign?

She's dead, that's for sure! No one can be alive when a huge wolf attacks you. That's why her skin on her left shoulder looks the same. Maybe she's already a ghost and her soul is now trapped in this Airbnb place.

Beep...beep…beep…

Sherry almost jumps from the sound of her phone's notification. She checks on it and there's a message from her client.

"Good morning Sherry,

Please make sure to send your work tonight. I won't be online all day but I will check on my email later.

Nope! She didn't die last night. That means that she has to start working now. She needs to finish the remaining data that she needs to collect. It's a menial task but it takes time before she can complete them. She looks at the clock and it's already 1 PM.

That's why she thought she already died. She never sleeps that long even after drinking. Rushing, she makes some coffee and gets to her laptop now. She will start working while waiting for her coffee to be ready.

She made herself busy until it got dark outside. It's a good thing that she's very efficient and was able to beat her deadline. Sam is just one of her many clients. She needs to make sure to always deliver her work on time. It's her way to afford to travel the world.

Her stomach growls after she sends her work to Sam. She forgets to eat while working. It happens to her sometimes, especially when she needs to finish her project. She checks her fridge but found nothing interesting. Maybe she just has to order some food instead.

She checks her food delivery app and she finds what she wanted to eat right away. Since she's in Korea, she will try their raw beef bibimbap. It looks appetizing and she wondered why she hasn't tried that one yet. She placed her order and went to shower while waiting for her food to arrive.

Sherry can't believe her appetite for raw meat these past few days. She's now in the meat shop looking for something to fill her fridge with. It's about time to get some stocks and try to be handy in the kitchen. After all, she's just planning to eat raw food and search for how to prepare them without getting salmonella.

After fold shopping, she went straight back home. Her landlady is waiting for her with something in her hand. She greeted her with the only words she can muster in Korean. The old lady giggled with her accent. She said a lot of things and handed her the package and left.

She's wondering what she told her but just ignores it and enters her place. The package contains a huge chunk of tuna! She has never been this excited over food before. But it's still raw and now she got what the old lady said. Maybe she's telling her to cook it but she can't be bothered about it.

It looks perfect as it is and she just sank her teeth and started to eat it that way. She never thought that raw fish can also be this tasty. It's very satisfying for her until she caught her reflection in the mirror. The flakes of raw tuna are all over her face. She was eating like an animal!

Sherry throws the tuna she's holding with her bare hands. She didn't even wash them before eating. What's happening to her? Maybe she looks like that whenever she eats raw food. She gets up from the chair and cleans herself before putting all the meats she purchased inside the freezer.

She realized that something has changed with her behavior after that dream. What if it really happens and her mind was just tricking her? She immediately goes to her laptop and thinks about what happened in her dream. It's something unusual for her because it's too vivid. She also keeps on dreaming about that wolf creature ever since.

All she can remember is the white wolf she saw in her dream. Maybe there is a symbolism behind it so she starts typing.

Sherry can't believe what she's reading. Why would a werewolf be roaming around the city? Of all people in Seoul, she happens to be the one who encountered it. She also read about the werewolf bite and scratches. It mentioned that if that happens, the person will be infected.

Craving raw meat is also a sign that a person is turning into a werewolf. She seems to manifest that symptom. But she finds it hard to believe that it can be happening to her. That's just ridiculous!

She slammed the laptop and felt furious. But then she realized that aggression is another sign that a person is turning into a werewolf. She tried to reason out that it was just a dream and tried to feel the skin of her left shoulder. It became her habit whenever she thought about that incident.

It's her way to calm and convince herself that it was just a dream. She knows that her left shoulder is smooth and there is no bite mark on it. Or maybe she just missed the correct spot. She panicked with that thought because this time, she feels something is not right.

She takes off her shirt to check her left shoulder from the mirror. It strained her eyes to see the back of it and that's when she saw it. The wolf's bite mark is there. She just can't see it before because she's not looking in the right spot!

Sherry suddenly feels the realization hits her hard. She was bitten by an alpha werewolf and from what she read, she will be turned into one because of it. It may not happen right after the bite or scratch but when the full moon comes, the transformation will happen.

She quickly grabbed her phone and checked the calendar. It doesn't show the date of the full moon. She searches for it and she almost loses her consciousness. It will be a full moon tonight. That means that if werewolves are real, she will be turning into one.

But maybe she can stop it from happening if she didn't see the moon. It's just the afternoon and that means that she still has time to prepare for it. But she needs to lock herself up to avoid getting in contact with other people. She doesn't want to hurt anyone.

Except for that alpha werewolf who did this to her! If she turns into a werewolf tonight, she will make sure that she will track him down. He needs to pay for what he did to her. She knows that it may be a guy since most of the alpha werewolves are males. But it can also be a female so she has to make sure about it.

After a couple of hours, Sherry's fear happens. It's already nighttime and the full moon will be up soon. She closed her window blinds to make sure that she won't see the moonlight. The door is also locked and barricaded with a cabinet. She can't be wandering around if she loses control of herself. With that thought, she changed into a werewolf.
