If my guess was right, the ones who had bad intentions toward her were none other than her sister and brother-in-law.

A thief in the family was the most difficult kind of thief to stop. With those two plotting something against Yvette, it would be difficult for her to escape it.

I began to get anxious at this thought. I took out my phone and called Yvette’s mother. After getting Billy’s address from her, I rushed there with Lorne.

Billy also lived in a villa.

It had three floors and was about three to four thousand square feet. It might not have been as luxurious as Cloudy Waters, but it was still pretty impressive for him to be staying in a villa like this.

“This is the villa, Freddie. No. 58, Willow Stream Villas. Should we go in right now, or should we wait for the others to arrive first?” Lorne asked with a vicious look on his face.

“There’s not enough time. Let’s go in right now.”

I pressed the doorbell.

It rang for over a minute before the door opened.

It was Susan.

She immediately reacted by attempting to shut the door when she saw me standing outside.

Luckily, I moved fast and blocked the door with my body.

“What’s wrong? Aren’t you happy to see me? Or are you feeling guilty about something?” I sneered as I looked at Susan.

“Of course I’m not happy to see you. What’s a miserly loser like you doing here? Do you know how much this flooring is worth? Don’t you dare dirty it with your feet. You won’t be able to pay for the losses even if we sold you off,” Susan said with great disdain.

I ignored Susan’s blabbering and asked coldly, “Where’s Yvette?”

“You should go to my mother’s place if you’re looking for Yvette. Why are you looking for her here?” Susan asked with a guilty tone.

“Hoho, there’s a limit to my patience. Let me ask you again. Where’s Yvette?”

“How would I know where she is? If you insist on harassing us, I’m calling the police.” With that, she lifted the phone in her hand.

I did not give her an opportunity to do so, though. I grabbed the phone from her and said to Lorne, who was behind me, “Lorne, help me hold her down.”

“Got it.”

I got the impression that Lorne did not really like her from how quickly he executed my orders.

He tied her up tight very quickly and duct-taped her mouth. He was quick and on point, living up to the triad’s reputation.

Once Susan was subdued, I ran up the stairs, shouting, “Yvette, I know you’re here. Come down now!”

“Yvette, come out!”

Yvette finally appeared from the room when I shouted her name the third time.

She stood at the top of the stairs and asked in surprise, “Freddie, what are you doing here?”

I was relieved to see her looking fine. “I came here because I was worried about you. Why are you dressed like this?”

I realized Yvette was dressed up quite differently than usual today.

She usually wore plainer clothes like jeans and T-shirts.

However, she was now wearing a pretty Japanese schoolgirl uniform. Her top was white, while the skirt was a dark pleated miniskirt.

She was also wearing white socks. She looked innocent yet desirable. This outfit looked really good on her.

“Are you talking about this?” Yvette twirled for me. “My sister bought it for me this morning. There were quite a few sets of them. Do I look nice?”

“Yes, you do, but hurry up and change out of it. Come back to the office with me to work. You don’t need to take a day off. Your entire office is looking for you everywhere,” I said.

“Back to the office?” Yvette paused momentarily, looking hesitant. “My sister isn’t allowing me to work there any longer. Besides, I don’t plan to return home for the time being. I want to stay here and take care of my sister for a while.”

Did not plan to return home?

I was surprised by Yvette’s reply.

She had been so unhappy because of her sister yesterday, and now they were so close?

Something did not feel right about this.

Moreover, why had she changed her sense of style so suddenly?

She had to be hiding something from me.

I opened my mouth, planning to continue questioning her.

However, Billy suddenly appeared on the ground floor at this moment and found Susan tied up. He shouted madly, “Freddie, are you f*****g crazy? What are you trying to do?”

He took out his phone and prepared to call the police.

Luckily for me, Lorne acted quite fast. He subdued Billy in just a few moves and tied him up as well.

Billy might have looked thick and large, but he was nothing but an empty husk since he spent most of his time drinking and sleeping around. It did not take much effort from Lorne to subdue him.

Billy continued shouting crazily after he was tied up. “Freddie, what trouble are you trying to cause?! Let me go now, or I’ll make sure you regret being born into this world!”

He continued with his mad shouting as I ignored him. I continued questioning Yvette. “Yvette, what exactly is going on? Did they threaten you? Don’t be afraid. I’m here! They won’t be able to do anything to you.”

Yvette was still in shock until she heard me speak. She quickly ran down the stairs and said breathlessly, “Freddie, what are you doing? Don’t you know you’ve now completely offended my brother-in-law? It took me a lot of difficulty to calm him down.”

“Calm him down? How did you calm him down?” I looked a little upset.

Could she have done it with Billy?

“I begged him, of course. I agreed to stay here to take care of him and my sister temporarily, and he promised to let you off and not let Stamen Group fire you.”

Not fire me?

I was angry but touched at the same time when I heard this.

I was the chairman of Stamen Group. No one was capable of firing me.

However, I was aware that she was doing all this for my sake. She was making a sacrifice for me.

I also understood that Billy’s intentions for her were far from this…

Keeping Yvette in his house was the first step. With Yvette staying here, his chances would increase tremendously.

At this thought, I said to Yvette with exasperation, “You silly girl. Didn’t I tell you before that no one in this world can fire me?”

“But my brother-in-law is really powerful. He called the general manager of Stamen Real Estate in front of me this morning. They’re very close,” Yvette said seriously.

“You heard her, Freddie. I really do know the upper management at Stamen Group. Let me go now and kowtow three times to me, and I might forgive you. Otherwise, just wait for Stamen Group to fire you. You know very well how difficult it is to get into Stamen Group, don’t you?” Billy said arrogantly.

“Is that so? Are you really that powerful?” I pretended to be shocked.

“That’s right. Scared now, aren’t you? What are you waiting for then? Let me go now.”

“Fine, I’ll let you go.” I got closer to Billy after saying this.

Just as everybody thought I was about to release him, I gave him a vicious slap across the face.

It was a pretty sound slap!

Billy was in a daze while Susan and Yvette were stunned into silence.

When Billy realized what had just happened, he shouted furiously, “You’re dead, Freddie. That slap of yours just signed your death certificate. You are definitely dead!!!”

He was viciously shouting.

However, my next slap was even more vicious than his mouth.

It was Yvette who reacted first. She pulled me away. “Stop hitting him, Freddie, stop hitting him. If you continue with this, there’s no turning back.”

I knew Yvette had a kind heart, so I said gently to her, “Yvette, do you still want to save your sister?”

“Yes.” Yvette nodded.

“Do you believe me?”

“I do.” Yvette nodded once more.

“If you do, then stay out of what I’m about to do next. I promise I will give you a satisfactory answer at the end of all this.”

“A-alright.” Yvette nodded earnestly when she saw that I did not look like I was joking.

When Susan saw how quickly Yvette was convinced by me, she shouted anxiously, “Yvette, I’m your sister, your only sister. How could you trust an outsider and not me? Call the police, call the police right now! That Freddie is a crazy man.”

Yvette stood up when she heard those words.

However, she headed out of the room and closed the door behind her.

I had managed to convince her.

I chuckled as I sat in front of the couple. I crossed my legs. “Tell me, both of you. What was your plan to hurt Yvette?”

“Hurt? What are you talking about? Yvette is my sister. Why would I want to hurt her?” Susan insisted stubbornly.

As for Billy, he was enraged as he said, “Freddie, you son of a b***h. You’re dead for treating me this way! I’m not only going to get you fired from Stamen Group, but I’ll also make sure you regret ever being born! You’ll soon wish for sweet death to come!”
