Chapter 36

“Pfft!” Montana spat out the water from her glass. “What nonsense are you talking about? I only promised to make you a meal. Who said I was giving you my first time?” “Urm… I was talking about the first time you would be making someone else a meal. What did you think I was talking about?” I laughed wickedly as I looked at Montana. “You’re a hooligan. I’m ignoring you!” Montana swished her ponytail at me as she turned and left in a huff. … I closed the door after she left. I suddenly realized something when I recalled what she had just said. Did Montana mean that she was still a virgin? That was incredible information! I had just found myself a jewel! Not many girls at her age were still virgins. Social butterflies like Lina had been through many boyfriends. Montana ignored me after returning to her room. I wondered if she was really mad at me, and I slowly drifted off to sleep thinking about it. When I woke up the next day, Montana was already awake and packing her school bag in the living room. “Good morning.” I smiled as I greeted her. “Hmph.” Montana grunted coyly but immediately said, “What would you like for dinner? I’ll personally cook for you tonight.” “Huh? You’re not mad anymore?” “What should I be mad about?” “Nothing.” I would not be reminding her when she had already forgotten about it. “I’l love eating whatever you make.” “Good for you. I’ll head to school first.” Montana huffed and turned to leave. I did not leave with her as my class was around ten. I washed my face around nine-thirty and strode off to school. When I entered the classroom, Chris was deep in discussion with others. He quickly said to me when he saw me walk in, “Freddie, Freddie, did you watch Lina’s live stream yesterday? Drama! There was so much drama!” “I didn’t. What was so dramatic about it? Tell me.” I pretended to have missed it as I wanted to see the effect it had had on the general public, using Chris as a proxy. “Didn’t Lina say that she had a date with Gentle Heart? He didn’t show up in the end, and he even sent a homeless guy to humiliate her… That homeless guy kept insisting on sleeping with Lina, and he even got down on one knee to propose to her. He scared Lina silly. You totally missed out on that scene! It was awesome.” “Was it really? I guess it was pretty dramatic if that happened.” I chuckled. “Don’t you have a grudge with Lina? You really should have watched it… It would have been totally cathartic for you.” “I’m feeling happy just listening to you talk about it. I guess Lina’s reputation has gone south.” “That’s for sure. Almost all the guys in school watched the stream last night… She’s now famous in our school, and even Young Master Logan has announced his breakup with her. All this was just the first round. The second round of stories is even more exciting.” “Second round? Where does the second round come from?” I was puzzled. “The second round came from the other streamers… It happened this way. After Lina was humiliated, she didn’t want to take it lying down, so she insisted on compensation from Gentle Heart. This woman made a huge demand and asked for a million. “Why would Gentle Heart give her money? It’s not like he’s an easy target to threaten. So he screenshotted the conversation and shared it with some other streamers, and they exposed her to everyone. “Now the entire platform knows what kind of woman Chestnut Sandy is. You probably don’t know this, but she tried seducing Gentle Heart by pretending she was a virgin. She even went to the hospital to reconstruct her hymen. “Good for her. Not only did she lose a rich benefactor, but she got nothing for the money she gave to the hospital. She deserves it!” “Hahahhaha, she does deserve it.” Even though I knew how the story going to end, I still could not help laughing when Chris talked about it. “Is that all? Nothing else?” I asked. “Isn’t all that enough? There’s one other thing, though. Lina’s username has been blocked… She must be suffering so much right now!” “She asked for it. She should have expected that this day would come when she humiliated me.” “That’s right. Feels good, doesn’t it, Freddie? Gentle Heart is now my idol from this day onward! What he did was really awesome.” “Me too…” ‘There should be no problem with me admiring myself, right?’ I thought to myself. “By the way, Stamen Group is looking to hire at our school. Do you want to come along and work with me?” Chris suddenly asked. “Hire at our school?” I was slightly astonished. My school was not renowned, and Stamen Group had never set up any booth at our school before. What was going on with them this year? However, I figured it out very soon. Vincent had probably taken the effort to scout my school on my account. “Alright. I’ll give it a try if they come. With Lindy looking out for me, it should be no problem for me to get into Stamen Group.” “Well, both us buddies can work together, then,” Chris excitedly said. “Yup, we’ll work together.” “The teacher is here. Let’s focus on work.” … I could not wait to get home after class was done. I had just opened the door when I smelt burning from the kitchen. Next, thick smoke came billowing. “Oh no, the kitchen is on fire!” I flung my bag aside and ran toward the kitchen. However, I entered the kitchen only to see Montana making a meal with a gas mask. I quickly turned off the stove and had no idea whether to laugh or cry at this. “Montana, are you cooking, or are you starting a fire?” “How could you say that, Freddie? I’ve been terribly smoked out, but I’m still determined to make you a meal. How could you treat me this way?” I darted a look at Montana and realized that her entire face was black, and she was looking like a complete mess. It must have taken quite a toll on her just to prepare this meal. My tone got softer. “Alright, alright. Thank you for your effort. Are you done with the cooking?” “The stuff in this pan is burnt, but the other stuff is still edible.” With that, she pulled me along into the dining room. I looked at the black dishes on the table. Everything had a suspicious shape, and I was suddenly fearful. “Is this… edible?” “Sure it is. These are from this afternoon,” Montana said in a huff. “I think we can forget about dinner. I’m not brave enough to eat anything on this table. You’re creating biochemical weapons.” I laughed bitterly. “What do you mean?” “Nothing. I’ll consider your promise fulfilled. If we can’t cook, we shouldn’t force ourselves. Let’s just order takeaway.” I took out my phone at that and ordered something from a delivery platform. While waiting for our food to arrive, I turned on the streaming app to take a look and see if Lina had been banned. I tried logging in a few times but found that they kept telling me that my password was wrong. What was wrong? I was quite puzzled by this. I could log into my account yesterday, so why was it not working today? Could I have been banned too? I tried a few times but still could not log in. I decided to just let it be. I had no money in there anyway… It was just an account. It was not long before delivery arrived. I called Montana over, and we enjoyed a good meal. Montana was in quite a good mood today. She hummed as we ate, and after we were done, she took the initiative to wash the dishes. I was curious about this. She was usually quite lazy. Why was she so proactive about washing up today? “I can tell you the reason, but you’re not allowed to say anything,” Montana said mysteriously. “Gentle Heart asked me to meet him next Monday.” “He asked you to meet him?” I was stunned. “That’s not right. I didn’t ask you out.” “You didn’t ask me out, Gentle Heart did.” Montana corrected me. “Urm…” Her correction made me realize I had let my identity slip. I rubbed my nose and smiled. “He really asked you to meet? How did he ask you out?” “He asked me out with his account on the platform, of course… He wanted to meet me tomorrow, but I thought it was too rushed, so I pushed it to next Monday. I need your advice. What should I do when we meet that day?” Montana asked with an expression full of hope. “Well, can I have a look at your chat messages?” “I… don’t think that’s appropriate.” Montana was hesitant. “Didn’t you want my advice? I have to look at the way he messaged you to analyze his personality…” I was anxious to find out what they had chatted about. I was unable to log into my account. Now, Montana had received an invitation to meet from Gentle Heart. For some reason, I had the feeling that something weird was going on. “You’re right.” Montana finally agreed after I convinced her, and she allowed me to look at her chat record. My mind buzzed after I took a look at it… I was absolutely baffled!
