Chapter 44

1656 Words
“That’s it, that’s the watch I lost,” Howard shouted. Nadia was holding the watch with a sarcastic expression. “We have the evidence, Freddie. What else is there for you to say?” “It wasn’t me. I didn’t take it!!! I was framed!!” I yelled, red-faced, attempting to explain. I understood at that moment. I understood everything. This had been a trap set by Nadia and Howard. Howard had done this so the school would expel me. This way, he would be able to take my place and work at Stamen Group. As for Nadia, she had an even better reason for this. She was getting revenge on me for that day. I regretted it! I regretted not f*****g that b***h, Nadia, to death! I had actually given her a chance to continue doing evil! However, it was now all too late! “Please believe me abot not stealing that watch. Even when I was extremely poor, I never took a cent from any of you.” I continued defending myself. However, with such solid evidence in front of everyone, my words felt useless. I realized my classmates did not believe me. At that moment, I was a thief and a p*****t in their eyes. “Stop with the excuses, Freddie. The stolen item was found in your schoolbag,” Nadia said with clear relish. “That’s right, Freddie. Stop with the excuses. I wondered why you were staring at me for the entire class. I see thatyou were actually staring at my watch,” Howard chimed in at the side, trying to make this accusation stick. “What do we do about this, Mr. Richardson? Should we call the cops?” Nadia lifted her head and looked at James. “Call the cops?” Our Physical Education teacher frowned. Things would take a turn for the worse if the police were called in. It would be detrimental to the school's reputation, too. Just as he was hesitating, a clear voice called out from afar, “We shouldn’t call the police.” I quickly lifted my head when I heard the voice. It was our class teacher, Cherry, who had rushed over here when she heard about what had happened. “Let me handle this, Mr. Richardson. You can leave if you’re busy.” James was more than happy for Cherry to take over this sticky situation. “I’ll let you handle this then, Miss Quentin.” James left after saying this. “Class, I’m responsible for what has happened here because I’m your class teacher. However, before we get to the bottom of this, I would like to ask that no one leaves and no one spreads any news of this. Please bear with me and stay here.” With that, Cherry turned to look at me. “Come with me, Freddie.” … When Cherry and I were alone, she said to me, looking grim, “Freddie, what exactly is going on?” “Miss Quentin, please believe me when I say I didn’t steal it. I really didn’t steal the watch. When I was poor before, I never took a single cent from any of my classmates. Now that I have money, there’s even less reason for me to do so.” I tried my best to defend myself. I really wanted Cherry to believe me. I liked her, which was why I cared a lot about what she thought of me. “If you didn’t take it, why was it in your bag?” “I have no idea. Someone framed me by stuffing it into my bag on purpose. Howard and Nadia both have grudges against me. You can corroborate this by checking with my other classmates.” “You really weren’t the one who took it?” Cherry frowned and said. “I really didn’t. Please believe me. I swear it on my character,” I replied seriously. Cherry had been wrong about me once before, which was why she was taking it very seriously when something like that was happening again. She stared straight at me as she spoke to me, and when she saw that I was earnest and did not look like I was lying, she said grimly, “I’ll believe you for now.” With that, she brought me back to face my classmates. “Class, this matter requires further investigation. Please come back to class with me for now. However, please be informed that no one should be spreading news about this before we give it a thorough investigation. This is to prevent your fellow classmates from being negatively impacted.” She waved everyone back into their classrooms as she said this. The strong, burly voice of a man was suddenly heard. “Miss Quentin, I know you’re protective of your students, but you can’t cross the line by being too protective. A bad student like this should immediately be expelled.” “What are you doing here, Mr. Lincoln?” Cherry lifted her head, surprised to see Charles Lincoln. “I heard from your other students that a terrible theft happened in your class, so I came over to have a look.” “This matter hasn’t been thoroughly investigated yet, Mr. Lincoln. We can’t conclude it so hastily.” “What do you mean, hastily? The stolen item was found in Freddie Lang’s bag. Isn’t that conclusive evidence? A scumbag like this should be immediately expelled. We cannot make exceptions.” I immediately knew what was going on when I heard Charles’ words. He was in on the framing. Otherwise, he would not have immediately appeared the moment this happened. It was normal for students to contact the class teacher when something happened, but no one would think about informing the head teacher, would they? That was why I was sure that he was involved with this trap! That watch might even have been provided by him! “Mr. Lincoln, we can’t expel students so easily without proper investigation,” said Cherry. “Are you the head teacher, or am I?” Charles looked unhappily at Cherry. “But, Mr. Lincoln…” “That’s enough. You should stop talking. I’ll take charge of this. If anything happens, I’ll take full responsibility.” Charles did not give Cherry another chance to speak. Cherry’s mouth opened as she wanted to say something, but I tugged on her sleeve. “Miss Quentin, you’ve done enough for me. Let me handle whatever that comes next.” I turned to Charles after that. “Can we speak alone, Mr. Lincoln?” “Alright.” Charles grunted in reply and turned toward the administrative building. I followed him to his office, and Charles closed the door behind us. “Do you know your place now, you brat?” Charles said coldly. “Ho, so you admit to framing me?” I stared furiously at Charles as I spoke. I never expected a proper head teacher to do this. All because of one place on the recruitment list. How could he be so ruthless?! How could the world have such a scumbag as a teacher?! He did not deserve to be one! “Trying to get me to talk? You’re still too much of an amateur for that!” Charles did not admit it. “Just tell me, what do you want from setting me up?” Even though I had guessed what happened, I still wanted to hear it from Charles. “Easy. I just want you to get out of this school. No student has ever dared speak to me the way you do. You have two options right now. One is to sign this form to voluntarily withdraw from school.” With that, he passed a copy of an ‘Application for Voluntary Withdrawal’ form to me. “What’s the second option?” I sneered as I looked at Charles. “Well, the second option is for me to forcefully expel you, but that’s not exactly a dignified choice. I would suggest that you consider the first option.” I took a look at the application and tore it up on the spot. “I’m sorry, but those aren’t my options. I’ll take the third option, which is for you to be the one that gets lost.” I threw the torn-up application in this face. Charles was enraged. “Do you have a f*****g death wish, you brat?” “The one who has a death wish is you!” With that, I raised my hand and gave him a vicious slap across the face. “Does trash like you deserve to be a teacher? I don’t think so!” I slapped him so hard that his glasses were flung to the ground. He scrambled around on the ground for his glasses before standing up and saying to me with a vicious look on his face, “How dare you hit a teacher, you son-of-a-b***h?” “So what if I hit you?” I gave him another slap! “I’ll fight it out with you!” Charles lunged at me viciously and we got into a brawl. However, I was young and strong, and he was no match for me. It took only a few seconds for me to bruise him seriously. He was left shouting in pain. He knew he was not going to get the upper hand if we continued this, so he ran out of his office, looking disheveled. He ran and shouted at the same time, “Security, security, come quick! A student is rebelling by hitting a teacher!” Three security personnel came rushing in with their batons when Charles shouted. With assistants by his side, Charles was emboldened and said sharply, “How are you hit a teacher, Freddie?! You’re dead now. I am going to expel you no matter what you say today!!!”
