“Yes, indeed. Go on, I’m listening. If you’ve suffered any injustices, I will help you make a stand,” Franklin smiled as he said. He looked quite respectful and almost too friendly.
He even spoke humbly while he was at it.
“Mr. Stone, what’s wrong with you?” Charles stood at the side, looking like he had just seen a ghost. He almost thought the dean was possessed.
Otherwise, why would the dean be reacting so differently before and after that call?
“You should shut up!!!” Franklin glared furiously at Charles.
“Alright, since you’re willing to listen, let me tell you what happened…” I crossed my legs and looked calm.
“Go on. Take your time.” Franklin poured a glass of water and served it respectfully to me.
“Well, this is what happened. Didn’t Stamen Group hold a recruitment drive yesterday? I was the only one hired from our faculty, and Charles thought I could be bullied by threatening to have me expelled. That way, his nephew, Howard, would be able to get into Stamen Group by taking my place. I did not agree to this, so he held a grudge against me. After that, he conspired with some classmates of mine and set a trap to frame me. After that, well, you know the rest.”
“What? Is that true?” Franklin was enraged. He turned and slapped Charles. “Lincoln, you’re now fired. Get the hell out of this school.”
“Mr. Stone, you can’t just listen to his words!” Charles was shocked, and he was close to sobbing.
“What do you mean, just his words? Do you even know who Freddie really is? It’s not possible that he’s lying about this. Get out of here right now!!!” Franklin said determinedly.
“You can’t do this, Mr. Stone. Even if I haven’t contributed much all these years, I’ve still labored for this school.” Charles was in a panic when he saw the dean being serious. He knelt on the ground and hugged Franklin’s leg.
“Get out of here!” Franklin kicked him to the ground. “I’m leaving you with dignity by firing you now. If you don’t leave, don’t blame me for revealing your affair with a certain female student…”
“I’ll… I’ll leave now!”
…
The way Franklin looked at me changed after Charles left.
If he had been respectful and overly friendly before, he was now just looking at me like I was his master.
He looked very much like a eunuch from ancient times.
I was a little uncomfortable with the way he was staring, so I smiled and said, “Mr. Stone, you’re the dean of this school, after all. It would be better if you were more reserved with the way you act.”
“You’re absolutely right.”
Franklin realized how exaggerating his expression was once when I gave him this reminder.
He adjusted himself slightly and said, “Mr. Lang, may I know your relationship with Mr. Quinn?”
I knew from his question that Vincent had not told him about our relationship.
“Vincent is my uncle. We only found out about each other this year.”
“I see.” Franklin nodded. “Don’t worry, Mr. Lang. Mr. Quinn informed me to handle your situation properly. How do you think we should go about it?”
“Mr. Quinn?” I suddenly realized how respectful he sounded.
“Don’t you know? Stamen Group, whom Mr. Vincent Quinn is representing, is our school’s biggest shareholder.”
Stamen Group was the biggest shareholder?
I was stunned. As the heir of Stamen Group, that meant I had control over this school.
Did I have the final say in this school?
No wonder Franklin had been so polite to Vincent…
Vincent was his cash cow!
“Do you have any other questions, Mr. Lang?” Franklin asked with concern.
“Nope, I’m good. How should this situation be handled, according to school rules?”
“According to school rules, anyone who played a key role in this will be expelled, while those who assisted will receive a demerit.”
“That’s fine. We’ll work according to the school rules. You can take over whatever happens next as I’ll be returning to class.”
“I’ll see you out.” Franklin got up to see me out in a friendly manner.
“Alright.”
I got up to walk out of the room, but a thought suddenly crossed my mind, and I stopped in my tracks. “By the way, about who I am…”
“Don’t worry. I would never reveal anything.” Franklin promised as he patted his chest.
“I do hope so. If I hear anyone in school even mention a word about it, you can step down from being the dean.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll be tight-lipped.” Franklin took out some tissues to wipe the sweat from his forehead.
“Good to know.”
I called Vincent on my way back to class.
“Thank you for the help just now, Uncle Quinn.”
“There’s no need to thank me, Young Master. It’s my job. Did everything end satisfactory?”
“Yes, very. But why didn’t you tell me about our school being an asset under Stamen Group? Did you hide it from me on purpose?” I asked half-jokingly and half-reprimandingly.
“Please don’t misunderstand, Young Master. We have assets like your school all over the world… If I were to inform you about every asset we owned, you might not even have the patience to finish listening to the list.”
“Alright, alright. You can stop being so polite to me. I know you were worried I would end up getting lazy and stop studying hard.”
It made sense after I thought about it. If I found out the entire school belonged to me, who would I even respect around here?
“Urm… You’re right, Young Master. It wasn’t actually my decision, it was Old Mr. Logan’s,” Vincent chuckled and said.
“Alright, I understand. I wasn’t blaming you, but don’t hide things like this from me in the future. I’m not that bad of a person.”
“I won’t hide anything from you anymore. Just the fact that you’re willing to start from the bottom of the company says a lot about who you are,” Vincent said with admiration.
“That’s enough, you don’t need to flatter me. I’m heading back to class. I’ll hang up first.”
I hung up on the call with Vincent.
I rushed back to class.
It happened to be a break between classes when I arrived.
My classmates looked at me strangely when they saw me entering.
There was disgust and condescension in their eyes.
“Are you alright, Freddie? The school won’t expel you, will they?” Chris came running to me nervously.
“Don’t worry, I’m fine.” I gave him a look that told him not to worry.
“You’re fine? I don’t think everything’s fine.”
Howard smiled as he came close. “I guess you guys don’t know about this, but Freddie panicked and beat up the head teacher in the office… He’s not only a thief, but he has also beaten up the school’s head. I guess we should just wait for him to get expelled.”
“It’s better for him to be expelled. It’s embarrassing to be in the same class as a thief.”
“You’re right about that. I’ve never heard of anyone bringing a m**********n cup to school. He might even be m**********g under his table when we’re not in class. He probably fantasizes about the girls in our class when he masturbates.”
“Hey, stop talking about it. That’s disgusting.” The girls were all chilled to the bone.
“Stop with your bullshitting!” Chris was angered as he tried to defend me.
However, I pulled him back and shook my head. “Ignore them, Chris. Just let them say whatever they want to.”
I knew that Franklin was on his way to class, which was why I allowed them to say or do whatever they wanted. They would not be happy for long.
…
The teacher did not wait long to begin class after we were all seated.
Chris was still feeling quite unsettled. “Freddie, you’re about to get expelled, and you’re still in the mood to learn in class? Think of something! If there’s nothing you can do, go ask for help from the rich lady.”
Rich lady?
This drew a blank at first, but I quickly realized he was referring to Lindy.
I had no idea how to react. “Why would I look for her? There’s no need to worry. I won’t be expelled.”
“You just beat up the head teacher. The school won’t let you off for that.”
“Don’t worry, just wait and see.”
I had just tried to calm him down when a commotion began in class.
Dean Franklin Stone had appeared at the door.
“Mr. Stone, what are you doing here?” The teacher currently teaching the class quickly walked down from the lectern.
“Mr. Lewis, please stop your class now. I have something important to announce,” Franklin said grimly.
“Alright.” Mr. Lewis picked up his books and left quickly.
Everyone began to chatter in low voices when they heard this.
“How big has this blown up? Even the dean is here.”
“Isn’t it serious enough for a student to beat up a teacher? Freddie is done for this time. He’s definitely getting expelled!”
