Lina took out her phone and started to summon someone.

Since I was standing close to her, I could hear the conversation on the phone.

“Lina, are you serious? You’ll be my girlfriend if I buy a necklace for you?” The man called Baxter on the phone sounded excited.

“Of course, I’m in Fortune Mall, are you coming? If you’re not, I’m calling others,” Lina said impatiently.

“Of course! Isn’t it just a necklace? Baby, even if you want the stars in the sky, I’ll bring it to you too,” Baxter said cheesily.

“I’ll wait for you then.”

After the conversation, the two ended the call.

Meanwhile, I said sarcastically to Lina, “I thought you’re loaded but it seems you’re calling others to pay. This necklace is so expensive so I guess you’ll have to get f****d a lot, right?”

“Alright, that’s him.” Lina pointed at me.

“Are you the punk who bullied…”

Baxter wanted to avenge for Lina but halfway through his sentence, he was stunned. After quickly rubbing his eyes to make sure he was not seeing things, he said in disbelief, “I’m not seeing things, am I? A…Are you Mr. Lang?”

‘Mr. Lang?’

When Lina heard this name, she could not stop herself from frowning. “Baxter, what nonsense are you spewing? Hurry up and teach him a lesson. He’s a trash collector in my school, how is he worthy of addressing him so respectfully?’

“Shut up!”

Baxter roared at Lina malevolently before looking at me with a grin. “Are you Mr. Lang?”

“Yes, my surname is Lang.” I nodded. “Do you know me?”

“Yes, I am from Four Seas Triad. Thankfully, I had the honor of seeing you last night because I was with my boss. However, I was standing at the back of the crowd. You might not know me but I have definitely met you before.”

“I see. Thanks for yesterday.”

“You don’t have to thank me. It’s such a huge honor to be able to help you,” Baxter said flatteringly.

On one side, Lina was completely baffled. She quickly rubbed her eyes. She seemed to think that she was hallucinating.

“Baxter, what are you doing? I’m asking you to teach him a lesson, why are you chatting with him?”

“Teach him a lesson?”

Baxter turned around and his expression turned sinister. “You stupid b***h, I’ll teach you a lesson!”

After he said that, he grabbed Lina’s long hair and pushed her to the floor before kicking and punching her.

He was seriously doing it. After a short while, Lina was lying on the ground with blood in her nose and mouth. She was not as arrogant and haughty as before anymore.

Whenever Lina wanted to say something, Baxter would beat her even more severely. Hence, the words that were on the tip of her tongue would turn into wails of pain.

Even though I did not like Lina, I could not stand watching Baxter beating up a woman. Therefore, I quickly stopped him.

“That’s enough, stop it.”

When Baxter heard my order, he quickly stopped what he was doing. He yanked Lina’s long hair and dragged her in front of me before throwing her on the ground like a dead dog.

“I’ll spare you for the sake of Mr. Lang. Kneel right now and apologize to him.”

However, Lina did not apologize. Instead, she looked at Baxter angrily. “Baxter, how could you do this to me? How could you ask me to kneel and apologize to a trash collector?”

Lina’s hair was messy as she said unconvincingly.

Clearly, she had not realized who I was at this moment.

“Do you want to die, b***h?”

Baxter took a step forward and grabbed her hair, forcing her to look straight at me.

After I said that, I ignored Lina and walked to the counter.

“Can you sell me the necklace now?”

The saleslady witnessed the entire thing and she knew what she should do now. After quickly handing me the wrapped box, she said, “Sir, I’ve already wrapped the necklace for you.”

After she said that, she even purposely pulled down her collar to attract my attention.

However, I would not even look at someone at her level.

I ripped open the packaging and handed the diamond necklace to Montana. “Put it on.”

However, Montana did not take it. Instead, she looked at me profoundly.

After she looked at me like that, I realized something and put the necklace on for her.

The diamond necklace was stunning. The pairing of emeralds and diamonds was exceptionally harmonious. Montana was gorgeous looking, and her skin was delicate and fair. Hence the necklace looked extremely beautiful when she wore it on her neck.

“Wow, how beautiful! This diamond necklace seems to be made especially for you, Miss,” the saleslady started complimenting on one side.

Even Baxter could not stop himself from saying, “How gorgeous. She looks like a beauty from an oil painting.”

When I heard their compliments, I felt very satisfied inside. So, I handed the saleslady my black credit card. “Use my card.”

When Baxter saw that I wanted to pay, he quickly handed his card over. “Mr. Lang, how can I let you pay? Let me. You have to give me a chance to make up for this.”

“Sir, this necklace costs three million,” the saleslady reminded him.

“Th…Three million?”

A look of hesitation flashed across Baxter’s eyes.

I saw that and I knew this necklace was out of his budget. So, I chuckled and said, “It’s fine. Let me. It’s the thought that counts. You’re Baxter, right?”

“Yes, my name is Baxter.”

“Alright, I remember you. Don’t fight with me for this necklace. This is an engagement present for my dear.”

After I said that, Baxter was given a way out and he seized this opportunity to give up.
