Chapter 98

I climbed onto the helicopter as Rue watched on in astonishment.

A powerful surge of air hit Rue and the surrounding trees. They could hardly stand straight as the helicopter flew off into the air.

I did not request the pilot to head to Shura City in the North immediately, but to the city center first. I had to pick Mindy up.

The trip to Shura City was to go up against the boss of a gambling den. No one knew what was going to happen, so bringing Mindy would make things safer.

Mindy got onto the helicopter half an hour later, and we headed straight toward Shura City.

However, Mindy did not seem happy about being picked up by the helicopter.

“Are you crazy, Freddie? Why are you bringing me along when you’re on your way to save some girl?”

She was not happy about her vacation being interrupted.

“It would be dangerous for me to save the girl alone. That’s why you have to help me.”

“…”

Mindy had no idea how to react to that. “Don’t put yourself in danger if you aren’t capable enough.”

“That won’t do. Montana is in danger now, and I have to save her.”

“Save her? I think you’re just a scumbag with feelings for her! You were with Layla Owens earlier today, weren't you?"

"How did you know? Are you keeping me under surveillance?”

I was astonished.

Mindy had not been following me at all. How did she know what I had been doing?

This woman was not an assassin. She probably worked in intelligence.

“Hoho, you don’t need to know how I found out. The important thing is that I know about it. I’m even aware of the relationship you and Nadia have…”

“You…!!!”

I was speechless. Based on what she had said, it was clear that I now had no privacy when it came to Mindy.

“Stop with the ‘you’s and shut up. Don’t disturb me on this trip unless it’s a life or death situation! I’m taking a nap!” With that, she shut her eyes and began to rest.

The helicopter traveled about 180 miles an hour. It took us about four hours to arrive at Shura City.

I had nothing to do while in the helicopter.

Thus, I closed my eyes and rested.

It was sundown when we finally arrived at our destination.

As Montana lived in a small district within the city, it was not easy to find a landing place. We had to find the nearest location to land.

I was shocked to find Mindy missing upon the helicopter’s landing.

This woman was like a ghost who disappeared as she wished.

I did not bother to look for her and just rushed toward Montana’s house the moment I got down.

Montana lived in a village within the city. The deeper I headed into the city, the more rundown my surroundings got.

I was a little sad to see this.

I had rewarded Montana with a few million before, but her house was still situated in a rundown village within the city.

That alone was enough to prove how unreliable her stepfather was.

With the help of her neighbors, I finally found Montana’s house.

The house was quite dilapidated and did not even have a front door. I got into the garden quite easily.

I heard intense arguing from inside the house the moment I arrived.

“I’m not marrying him. I’m not going to marry him, no matter what you say. The only way for me to marry that scumbag is if you have a ceremony with my dead body!”

“You don’t want to marry him? Do you want to stand by and watch our whole family die? The Reed family said we had to choose between death or your marriage!”

“That’s because you owe them lots of money. What has that got to do with us? If death is involved, shouldn’t you be the one to die? You’re a lousy gambler, and you shouldn’t even be alive in the first place.”

“You good-for-nothing b***h! How could you say such a thing? I’m your father, and we’re a family.”

“Family?” Montana sneered inside the house. “Why didn’t you say anything about family when you were hitting and abusing me? Did you say anything about family when you asked me for money? Now that you’re in debt, we’re suddenly family?”

“Stop your f*****g nonsense. You won’t marry, huh? Fine with me. I have a hundred different ways of torturing your mum. If you want to be a filial daughter, just be a good girl and get married.”

“I won’t! I’m not getting married!!!”

“You won’t? That’s fine. I’ve suddenly thought of a good idea. I can give your mother to Mr. Reed. He’s had fun with all kinds of different women all his life, but I bet he hasn’t had the chance to enjoy a bedridden, fragile woman like your mum yet. There’s a chance he might enjoy it and cancel my debt to him.”

“Sean Carson, you bastard!”

I heard a crisp, clear slap.

I knew that Montana had finally snapped and slapped him.

I was worried she would be hit back, so I quickly went inside.

Just as I expected, Montana’s father had now lifted his hand and was about to hit her back.

“Stop!!!”

I shouted and quickly rushed forward to grab his hand.

“Who the f**k are you?”

Montana’s father, Sean, looked at me in annoyance.

“I came here to f*****g beat you up!”

With that, I kicked Sean in the abdomen. He fell to the ground.

Sean was Montana’s father in name. If I wanted to be with Montana, I would have to be in his good graces.

However, I could no longer take facing a scumbag like him.

“Freddie?”

Montana trembled with agitation when she saw him on the ground. She ran into my arms and her suppressed emotions finally broke free as she began crying hysterically.

“Alright. Everything’s fine now. I’m here, I’m here.” I hugged Montana and caressed her long hair.

Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Sean picking up a broom after getting up. He viciously swung it at me.

Montana was in my arms. I could not avoid the hit entirely, so I took the brunt of the swing.

I turned to look at him coldly. “If you want to solve this problem, then f*****g stay where you are quietly. My name is Freddie Lang. I believe your son might have mentioned me before.”

“You’re Freddie Lang?” A look of delight flashed across Sean’s eyes. “Oh, you’re here, my son-in-law. I thought you were some random thug. I’m so sorry about this. I apologize. Both of you should have some privacy. Let me prepare dinner for you!”

Sean immediately closed the door and left both of us alone.

Montana looked at me, teary-eyed, when she finished rying. “You shouldn’t have come, Freddie. You shouldn’t have gotten involved with this mess.”

I wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes. “You silly girl. You know I’m Gentle Heart. Why didn’t you come to me when you’re in trouble?”

“I know you’re rich, but your money doesn’t grow on trees. Besides, I don’t want to drag you into this. My family is like a bottomless pit. Being with me would only bankrupt you.” Montana told me the truth.

“You silly girl. What do you want me to say? I have more money than you can imagine. All I need to do is to snap my fingers, and this situation with your family can be easily solved… Don’t hide anything from me in the future.”

“Can you really solve this? But that Mr. Reed is someone powerful. He’s a local gangster here, and everyone is scared of him,” Montana said fearfully.

“Of course I can get this solved. Do you think Young Master Logan is rich? Do you think he’s powerful?”

“I do.” Montana nodded.

“Let me put it this way: I’m ten thousand times more powerful than they are and ten thousand times richer.”

“Is that true?” Montana’s eyes widened in disbelief.

“Of course it’s true. That’s why the Mr. Reed you mentioned is nothing to me. Just trust me, and don’t bother yourself with that Reed guy and your stepfather. I’ll take care of all of them once and for all and make sure that they can’t continue doing bad things.”

I was intent on murder the moment that Sean mentioned giving Montana’s mother to Mr. Reed.

It had never crossed my mind that a man could go to such dirty lengths.

Allowing someone like him to continue living in this world would only be a curse upon the Earth.

“Can you really help me?” Montana was still in disbelief. “I still think it’s best that you don’t get yourself involved. If you can’t get this settled and end up angering them, things will be worse for my family. You should leave tonight.”

“What are you talking about, you stupid child?”

Sean pushed the door and entered at this point. He was holding onto some hot dishes he had just bought. “Son-in-law, don’t listen to my daughter’s nonsense. We’re a family now. We shouldn’t be talking like strangers here.”

Sean chuckled as he spoke.

I knew what he was thinking. He was treating me like his last chance at salvation.

However, I was not about to give in to him. I sneered and said, “Is that so? If you see me as your son-in-law, why are you making Montana marry into the Reed Family?”

“I…” Sean was flabbergasted.
