Chapter 82

1740 Words
“That’s right. That’s the only thing he told me to do.” Bobby nodded his head earnestly. “Do you have any other questions for the dinner tonight, Young Master?” “Nope. Just do exactly as he told you to. Also, look out for my signal on what to do tonight, understand?” “Yes, Young Master. I will be on alert tonight.” “That’s all I have to say.” With that, I got up to leave. “I’ll walk you out, Young Master.” Bobby quickly ran after me from behind. … We went to the beach that night. It was where the bonfire dinner would be held in a grand manner. The view that night was really beautiful, and as dinner was paid for with public funds, everyone was enjoying it tremendously. However, the rowdy beach began to quiet down when Nadia and I appeared. There was something strange about the way they were looking at me. They seem to dislike me quite a lot. People stepped back from wherever I walked. Everyone was avoiding me like the plague. I knew that this had to all be Lacey’s doing. However, it did not bother me at all. It felt especially peaceful without anyone hanging around me. … It was not long after everyone arrived that dinner began. The hotel staff started to serve the dishes. I looked at the food and saw that the dishes were exquisite delicacies made with top-notch ingredients from all around the world. There was French foie gras that had to cost its weight in gold, Spanish ham, Italian white truffle, Japanese Wagyu, and many more. These were all high-grade ingredients I had only heard of on television before. In addition to that, these ingredients had been air-flown here on the same day and prepared by the best chefs in the world. One could only imagine the value of this meal. Every mouth we ate was worth chockfuls of glittering gold. Nadia noticed something wrong with the menu and immediately said to me, “Stop eating, Freddie. This isn’t the menu we ordered. I didn’t order such an expensive menu.” “It’s fine. Just enjoy the meal.” I knew something was not right as well. It had been supposed to be five thousand a table, but Young Master Zane had adjusted it to twenty thousand. However, there was no way even twenty thousand could buy such superior ingredients. I soon understood what had happened. Bobby must have arranged this specifically for me when he found out who I was and changed the menu at the last minute to include such delicacies. I felt relieved at this thought and said to Nadia, “Everything is fine. Just enjoy the meal.” “But…” “Don’t worry about it. I’m here if there’s any trouble.” “Alright.” Nadia could only follow suit when she saw how confident I was. … We happily dug into our meal. I had good food, great wine, a gorgeous girl, and a stunning sea view. It was an unforgettable night. However, just as we were about to finish our dinner, Young Master Zane came over with a wineglass in one hand. His other hand was wrapped around Lacey’s waist. “What are you doing here?” I asked brusquely. “I’m here to ask how your meal was, of course,” Young Master Zane said with a chuckle. “There’s no need for you to bother with that. I’m enjoying it very much.” I rolled my eyes at him. “Well, since you’re enjoying it so much, may I trouble you to pay the bill for your portion of the meal?” Young Master Zane continued chuckling as he asked this. I immediately understood his reason behind requesting Bobby to change the menu when I heard this. He had been waiting for this moment. I opened my mouth, about to say something. However, Nadia beat me to it. “What do you mean by this, Young Master Zane? Our society is in charge of paying the bills for this trip. What right do you have to ask my boyfriend to pay for himself?” “I have the right to ask because he’s not a member of the Entrepreneur Society. You were the one who strictly proclaimed that family members were not allowed before this trip, yet you’re breaking your own rule.” “That’s right, Nadia. Why aren’t you respecting the society’s rules?” “Why should we follow the rules when you’re breaking them yourself?” “Nadia, it’s not that much money anyway. Just get him to pay for it.” It was clear that Young Master Zane had coached everyone. “You…!!!” Nadia turned green as she watched everyone pointing fingers. She opened her mouth to say more, but I stopped her. “It’s alright, Nadia. I’ll pay for myself. It’s not much money, anyway. But if I’m paying for myself, Young Master Zane and all the others have to pay for themselves as well.” That last sentence was meant specifically for Young Master Zane. “Why should we pay for ourselves?” Young Master Zane was not about to give in. “Even though you’re from the Student Union, you’re not a member of the Entrepreneur Society either. If I’m paying for myself, you should be paying for yourself too.” “Fine, we’ll pay too.” Young Master Zane relented in the end. He must have thought that I would not be able to fork out the money. This was how he planned to humiliate me. He was really throwing money into this plan. “Alright. Since there’s no problem, I’ll get a server to bring us the bill.” I turned to leave at that point. It was not long before I got Bobby out. I explained the situation to him while returning to the dinner. When he arrived, he immediately informed us, “Young Master Zane, I’ve calculated the total of tonight’s bill. It’s ten million and three hundred thousand. I’ll round that down to ten million for you. So, that’s twenty thousand per head.” “T-ten million????” Young Master Zane began to stammer when he heard this. “Uncle Kane, did you calculate wrong? How is it possible that we’ve spent ten million?” “The amount is correct, Young Master Zane. You’ve had five dishes to your table, each worth twenty thousand, which comes up to a total of a million. As for the remaining nine million, that comes from a limited-edition whisky you had from Aleo.” “Uncle Kane, you must have gotten it wrong. What whisky is this that costs so much?” Young Master Zane was shocked. “Young Master Zane, why would I lie to you when I’m an old friend of your father’s? The three bottles that you just drank are the only three bottles that exist in this world. Each bottle costs three million, and that’s with my special discount for you,” Bobby said with a chuckle. “What?!!!” Young Master Zane was stunned. Everyone present was stunned as well. The noisy beach was now completely silent. Only the sea breeze could be heard. When I saw them looking stunned, I gave a friendly reminder. “Stop delaying things, Young Master Zane. Just pay up. There aren’t many people from the Student Union, anyway. Just eight of you would cost one million and six hundred thousand. You’re pretty well-to-do. It can’t be that you can’t afford a measly one million and six hundred thousand, right?” “Of course I can afford to pay,” Young Master Zane said, red-faced. “But why should I pay for them? It’s not fair for me to pay for more than my share.” Everyone was shocked to hear this. They immediately said, “You can’t do this to us, Young Master Zane. You were the one who promised us a good time before we agreed to come. You can’t make us pay so much.” “That’s right. We don’t have that much money.” “You can’t be burning bridges like this, Young Master Zane.” Everyone surrounded Young Master Zane and voiced their dissatisfaction. “Shut up, everyone!” Young Master Zane was extremely frustrated by this. He pushed everyone aside and came up to me. “Freddie, you’re sowing discord between us on purpose, aren’t you? We can pay, but you need to pay for yourself too. Otherwise, the Entrepreneur Society will have to bear the cost.” “You want me to pay up? Sure.” I snapped my fingers and said to Bobby, “Mr. Kane, tell them how much my bill will be.” Bobby gave me a bow and said in an overly friendly manner, “Don’t joke around, Young Master. The entire island belongs to you. You’re not required to pay for anything at all.” “Oh, I see.” I smiled at everyone and said apologetically, “I’m sorry. I’ve forgotten to inform everyone that this entire island belongs to me. I don’t need to pay for anything.” “What? The entire island belongs to you?” Young Master Zane was stunned. As for the others, they were so astonished they just stood where they were with astonished looks on their faces. This included Nadia. I had not told her about this, after all. “Did you make a mistake, Uncle Kane? How could such a huge island belong to a penniless loser like him?” Young Master Zane looked at Bobby in disbelief. Bobby’s expression changed when he heard how Young Master Zane was talking. He sharply said, “Young Master Zane, please show some respect. If you continue disrespecting our young master, please do not blame me for being harsh.” “Does this island really belong to him?!” Young Master Zane was completely bewildered by this. The others began to look at one another. When I saw that this realization had begun to sink in for them, I chuckled and said, “Stop delaying things, and just pay up. Since this entire island belongs to me, I’ll be the one making the final decisions. If you can’t afford to pay, you can forget about taking the ferry back. You can swim back to shore!”
