~Men who wish to know about the world must learn about it in its particular details~ -Heraclitus 'As is to be expected of the sect ranked at four among the five major sects in this Seyr Empire.' Niyonika thought in approval, thinking back to the detailed explanation the five brother disciples had given her on all she needed to know. The Elemental god continent was named so due to the fact that in this timeline, people were born with natural gifts that granted them control over a particular component of nature...the elements. Elements in the Elemental god continent was divided into major element, minor element and unique element. Major elements were the five major elements. The fire element, the water element, the earth element, the air element and the spirit element were the five major elements. In the Elemental god continent, each person was born with a natural affinity for one of these five major elements. One's further cultivation would be centered on this, hence the element one was born with a natural affinity for would then become one's major element. However some extremely gifted people were blessed with more than one element, some could possess two, some three and there were even rumours of people possessing four to five elements, however all these were extremely rare, the rate of being born with multiple elements was 1 in 1000 and this calculation only applied to those possessing two elements, as for anything above, they were even rarer, and people possessing four to five were regarded to be a myth as none could attest to actually having seen one. These other elements one could possess in addition to one's major element were called the minor elements. Minor elements were numerous. There was nature, light, darkness, wood, lightning, shadow, ice, storm, etc. Those were some of the most common minor elements. Elementals gifted with two elements mostly possessed a major element, and then a minor element having close ties with their major element. For instance, for water elementals, it was common for the gifted ones among their ranks to possess the ice minor element. For earth elementals, nature or wood were common minor elements they could possess. For fire elementals, they mostly possessed the light minor element and in some extremely special cases, the wood element as well. Air elementals could possess the storm minor element and spirit elementals mostly possessed the darkness or shadow minor elements. There were also some black sheep who could possess minor elements completely contradictory to their major element. Like the case of a fire elemental possessing the minor element of ice. All these were reserved for the special elementals blessed with the ability to control more than one element. These elementals were called dual elementals, the most reverred elementals in the Elemental god continent. Finally there was the unique elements. Unique elements were the rarest of all the element groups as these elements were extremely uncommon. An elemental possessing a unique element would be given reverence equivalent to that of a god in any sect and even the empire at large...or so the five brother disciples had said. If dual elementals occurred once in every one thousand, then an elemental possessing a unique element could only be found once in every millions of thousands, it was simply too rare of an occasion. The five disciple brothers had told Niyonika that even within this great Seyr Empire, the number of elementals possessing a unique element only numbered up to a handful, or even less than that. The five disciple brothers had also admitted they also did not have sufficient knowledge of this unique element as it was simply too rare hence none was yet to completely understand it. They had gone further to inform Niyonika that most of the information the Seyr Empire possessed on unique magic were bits and pieces gathered from other empires who were more blessed in this regard. The few known unique elements were the truth element, the wish element, the mist element, the sound element, the metal element etc. History also had it that there were many more unique elements however the five disciple brothers had only informed her of the unique elements they were certain had been confirmed to actually exist in the Elemental god continent. In every empire in the Elemental god continent, there was hundreds if not thousands of sects, among these sects, there were a few all powerful sects whose power and influence were unchallenged in their respective empires. Within the Seyr empire, there were five of such all powerful sects, they were collectively known as the five major sects. The five major sects were: The Seven Sabers Sect which was ranked at No 5. The Heavenly Sage Pavilion ranked at No 4. Towering Cliff Asgard ranked at No 3. Ghost Blade Palace ranked at No 2 and finally The Immortals Abode, the indomitable sect ranked at No 1. Each and every one of these five major sect held unbelievable power and influence in the Seyr Empire, the five major sects were a kind of power that even the imperial family of the Seyr Empire did not dare offend. The emperor of the Seyr Empire himself whose every word could shake the entire Seyr Empire treated these five major sects with great reverence. The disciples of the five major sect were the most outstanding elementals in all of the Seyr Empire as they had the availability of the best materials and teachers to support their cultivation journey. Beyond this each of these five major sects had thousands of years worth of history hence an equivalent worth of knowledge was at their finger tips, this made it easier for the five major sects to guide their disciples on the right path and ensure they achieved the highest levels of cultivation. The very sect Niyonika was a disciple of was ranked No 4 among the all powerful five major sects of the Seyr Empire. Being able to qualify to join one of these five major sects was the lifelong dream of almost every young elemental cultivator in the Seyr Empire. However joining one of these highly reverred sects was not an easy feat at all. One either had to possess family ties with the sect or be insanely talented, at the very least one had to possess outstanding natural potential and innate talent that far outshined one's peers to qualify to be accepted as a disciple of one of these five major sects. Niyonika was not particularly sure which category she fell into, but considering the fact that she had somehow found herself washed up ashore on the day of the ranking contest added to the fact that the only friend of hers she had met so far was so terrified of participating in the ranking contest that she would rather wait three more years, Niyonika assumed she did not fall under the outstanding innate talent category. Niyonika had garnered from the five brother disciples that she was supposedly a wind elemental, they had come to this conclusion due to the colour of the Heavenly Sage Pavilion seal on her robes that was a glittering shade of silver contrary to the seal on the robes of the five brother disciples which was a deep blue shade. It was in response to Niyonika's question on if the Heavenly Sage Pavilion was only made up of water elementals like them. The five brother disciples had explained that although there were sects restricted to a particular element for the sake of specialization to achieve optimum benefits as since all disciples shared one element, they would most likely use the same resources for their training, the sect only had to focus on acquiring the best of the resources particular to their chosen element. However each of the five major sects were made up of all the different elementals. Their ability to cater to disciples of all the different elements boasted of their superior resources and great wealth. In the case of the Heavenly Sage Pavilion, there were five heavenly elemental mountains in the territory of the Heavenly Sage Pavilion and each of these heavenly elemental mountains were dedicated to one of the five major elements. Each of these heavenly elemental mountains were independently governed by a heavenly sage master of that element with numerous other excellent sage masters to assist the heavenly sage master. The disciples of the sage masters were the middle disciples of the heavenly sage pavilion while the direct disciples of the five heavenly sage masters of the heavenly elemental mountains were the inner disciples of the Heavenly Sage Pavilion, the elites and royalty among all disciples of the Heavenly Sage Pavilion. Meanwhile the outer disciples were the lowest disciples who were yet to pass the ranking test and so had not been assigned to any of the heavenly elemental mountains and hence they were disciples of the Heavenly Sage Pavilion but at the same time could not really be considered to be true disciples of the Heavenly Sage Pavilion. They were provided with living arrangements and were adequately catered for, however they had no access to the great cultivation techniques and items that could assist with their cultivation, at the same time, they lacked the privilege of a one on one direction by a sage master.
