* Aiden woke up to the sound of his mother humming to herself. His eyes opened slowly, and as he looked up, he immediately realised that he was in his room. “Mom?” he called, groaning as he felt how dry his throat was. He tried to sit up, but Sandra immediately reached out and stopped him. “Careful, Aiden,” she said. “You don’t want to hurt yourself.” Aiden wanted to point out that he was a grown man, and she didn’t have to fuss over trivial matters like him sitting him, but he let her fuss over him.
