Sometime after sunset, Aiden was sitting in the living room when Bella walked in. She found him watching a game, his eyes focused on the screen and fidgeting as he was analysing every last bit of it.
But as soon as she got close, he turned his eyes to face her, and the lines which had formed across his forehead dissipated almost immediately.
“Hi,” he said, gesturing for her to come over.
“Hey,” she replied. “I didn’t know you were back.”
“What were you up to?” he asked.
