CHAPTER 4✍️ BRITTANY'S POV: "Oh, Mycseen, it’s you," Dwayne said as the boy who had stopped the fight between the twins walked into the classroom. "Yes, it's me. What's going on? Why the squabble?" he asked. "Dawn was being petty with the new student," Dwayne explained. "Were you?" the boy asked Dawn. "I just asked her a harmless question," Dawn replied. "How is asking her about the reason for changing schools on her first day a harmless question?" Dwayne countered. "Stay out of this," Dawn snapped. "Dwayne!" a boy called from the door. "I'm sorry," Dwayne apologized quickly. "Whatever," Dawn muttered, returning to her seat. I sat at my desk, silently observing the ongoing drama. It felt like I was watching a live episode of twin squabbles. I know they’re not supposed to fight, but it was oddly cute. "Hope you're not feeling lonely?" Dwayne asked as she sat down beside me. Is she really asking me that? Of course, I’m feeling lonely. It’s my first day here, and I don’t know anyone. Plus, a squabble just unfolded right in front of me. I thought to myself. "Uh… yes, I feel lonely," I replied. "Okay, then let’s talk," she said, and suddenly, she started talking nonstop. She told me all about Dashville and so many other things. I could barely get a word in edgewise. Then, she paused and smiled at me. "Brittany, sorry to ask, but why did you change schools?" she asked. "Well… I was humiliated by a very rude girl named Risa, who happens to be the most popular girl in my old school. I couldn’t take it anymore, so I had to switch schools," I explained. I wasn’t ready to tell her about Kevin and me. "What exactly did she do?" Dwayne asked, her curiosity piqued. "I don’t want to talk about it right now, but I promise I’ll tell you soon," I replied. "Alright," she said, smiling kindly. "I understand." "Thanks a lot for today, Dwayne. I’m really glad I met you," I said sincerely. "It’s no big deal. Can we be friends?" Dwayne asked with a hopeful smile. "Uh… yeah, sure, we can," I replied with a smile of my own. At that moment, a deep baritone voice interrupted us. "Dwayne, James wants to see you." I turned around, and sure enough, it was the same boy who had stopped the squabble between Dwayne and Dawn earlier. "I’m busy," Dwayne replied, dismissing him. "Who's James?" I asked, genuinely curious. "My boyfriend," Dwayne answered with a proud smile. "Oh, I see," I said, feeling a little surprised I wasn't expecting that tho
