"Alpha is still out there," Richard said pointing toward the packhouse.

"What is it, Richard?"

"I think he's gone feral," Richard whispered.

"No!" Tabatha gripped his chest. Sometimes after losing a mate, a wolf was subject to going feral. It was the most horrible thing to see. Their beast took over and they roamed and most times died. Zion was already healing from the attack from the other pack when he was unable to take Blaine's life and it drove him mad. And she had healed him how would he feel?

"Are you sure Richard?"

"Tabatha all I am finding are dead bodies. The Vargis are dead everywhere and I know it is Czar listen do you hear their cries of despair? "f**k!" Richard yelled as a Vargis came charging at them. Richard pushed Tabatha through the shield landing on top of her, "this brings back memories." He said jokingly. Tabatha punched him in the chest. "Ouch!" He said rolling off her. They both watched as the Vargis which looked like it was once a normal buck stomped its foot angrily with its nostrils flared. It stepped back a foot and came ramming its horns into the shield. "They are pissed!" Tabatha said as more came throwing their body into the shield.

"Czar has inadvertently started a war."

Richard mumbled as Tabatha inhaled sharply.

"They have the eyes of the devil," Tabatha said fear all over her. Richard looked at her.

"I have to go back out there."

"Are you crazy!" Tabatha said grabbing his arm.

"Javoni, and I got separated out there running from those beasts. I have to go back out."

"No!"

"Tabatha I am a warrior and he is my brother. No man left behind."

"Shall I put that on your tombstone, Richard?" Tabatha said punching him in the chest. Why did the thought of losing him feel crippling to her?

"Go check on your sons." Richard pointed back toward the packhouse.

"No, if you go I go." She hissed.

"Absolutely not! Look at that thing" he pointed at the Vargis that was relentlessly pounding his head into the shield now joined by two others."

"Exactly my point!"

"Fine, I will wait for Chastity to arrive back. Didn't know you cared so much." Richard said sarcastically

"I don't," Tabatha said sweetly back, "keeping you in one piece for Amber."

"You sound a little jealous."

"Oh please in your dreams." Tabatha punched him in the arm and walked off. As soon as she was out of sight Richard went to the other side of the property and slipped out again. He ran at top speed back to where he had separated from his friend. 'Javoni where are you answer me?'

'Richard man there is nothing you can do. There are like six of them guarding me and and my damn ankle is twisted I can't run dude I'm a goner.'

'I will carry you. Just tell me where you are,'

'Damnit Richard you will not make it out of this do you hear them.'

Richard could hear the noise they were making they were highly pissed that Czar had been running through them. Slaughtering them so he was sure they were tracking his Alpha, but where the hell would he go? 'I am already out here Javoni and I am not turning back I will die out here anyway'

Javoni was silent, 'Well if we are going to die we might as well do it together.' Javoni gave Richard directions as to where he was. Richard came close enough to see that the place was heavily guarded.

A few plans began to formulate. He would need to create a distraction. He wondered how intelligent these Vargis were. "What's the plan, Richard?"

Tabatha asked startling Richard he nearly jumped out of his skin.

"What the hell are you doing here?"

"I could ask you the same thing, liar!" Tabatha said poking him in the chest, "yeah, yeah what happened to waiting for Chasity?"

Tabatha said with her chest puffed up daring him to say the wrong thing.

"Yeah, okay!" Richard said at a loss for words. "Why are you still pretty when you're mad?"

Tabatha looked at him rolling her eyes, "what's in the bag?" she asked instead of allowing her head to swell over his compliment.

"Knives."

"What else?" She asked blushing.

"A lighter great!" Tabatha pulled her backpack out, "I have pepper spray."

"Pepper spray what the hell do you need that for?"

"I don't know Richard pay attention it's flammable and you have the fire. If we can create a big distraction they may run toward it"

"Tabatha who runs toward fire?" Richard stared at her. She shrugged "well what's your plan?"

"Me."

"What the hell does that mean?" She said as she watched him gathering stones. "How strong are you?"

"Why what are you up to?" She looked at him suspiciously

"They can't catch me. And don't I look like a delicious snack." He did a ridiculous goofy dance and she glared at him. Refusing o laugh at a time like this.

'Id eat his ass alive if I hadn't already had a whole damn meal.' Chloe came out of nowhere to say.

She watched as Richard circled around throwing the stones he nailed the Vargis one by one with a stone to the face. Did a quick dance like a football player that would have got him in huge trouble if Zion had seen him showing off.

'Let's go Chloe gonna need you, hun.'

'I got ya!' Tabatha jumped over a boulder landing in front of Javoni. She quickly tossed him over her shoulder and started to run. Tabatha would be the first to admit she was not the strongest Shewolf, nor was she the fastest. She could hold her own but she was using all her might. "Oh s**t girl faster!" Javoni yelled, "their coming!" He said screaming like a girl.

And then his nerves got the better of him and he let out a huge smelly fart.

"Seriously!" Tabatha screamed, the louder Javoni screamed the faster her burning legs went.

'It's too far!' Chloe whimpered.

"Oh my Goddess, we are not going to make it!" She was slowing down the speed and they were coming faster.

Out of nowhere River and Zara and several other pack members came charging out of the shield. Tabatha started crying she had never been so happy to see them. Zara was the first to take one out. River shifted into a black panther diving into the air clawed the beast in the eyes blinding it and Zara came behind him to finish it off. Tabatha kept running. She had just got one leg into the shield when she heard Javoni cry out. She collapsed on the ground breathing. She looked up to see Richard standing over the beast pulling a knife from his head. She could not move because Javoni was on top of her howling out in pain.

She felt him being lifted off her and she lay kissing the ground as her legs burned from carrying his weight.

They had all stepped over the protective barrier when the Vargis that had been chasing Richard came slamming into it. They were pissed he had outrun them. Richard like a five-year-old stuck his tongue out teasing the beast.

"Oh Goddess you are so immature," Zara said to Richard as she then made a funny face at the beast too. They started to laugh. "I can beat all of you." River said pulling his shirt up he yelled "JERRY BEADS!" Doing what he thought was a sexy pose. Even Tabatha laughed this time until they heard his voice.

"I'm glad you all feel this is a time to have fun!" Alpha Lucas Zion's father roared in his Alpha tone. Like good little soldiers, they all immediately stood at attention.

"My son wanders the woods lost in his grief! And you all are disobeying a direct order! Maybe you should all be rogues, it appears you seem to feel you know and can do better than your higher ranking. Is Mystic Moon not on lockdown?"

Lucas glared at each of them in the eye, "Speak!"

"Alpha Zara, I, Ryan, and Dedrick were in the packhouse when Zara was in the bathroom and saw Tabatha carrying an injured Javoni being chased by Vargis. We only broke the lockdown to aid in her escape." River was the first to speak up.

Lucas then walked over to Tabatha and asked, "Why were you outside of the protective shield?"

Tabatha was not mad at River for tossing her under the bus. Nobody lied to the Alpha and Lucas was the previous Alpha before Zion. He did not play games and was way sterner than Zion. Tabatha felt like s**t she could not toss Richard under the bus after he had covered for her. Lucas's eyes narrowed, 'What the f**k are you doing Tabatha speak up!' River said to her through a mind link.

'This is about to get ugly, we are going to be banished.' Chloe's said

"It was my fault alpha I disobeyed a direct order from Kade and I dragged Tabatha in it with me. I thought maybe I could find Zion myself and I and Javoni got separated." Richard said and Tabatha's eyes immediately began to burn with tears.

"I got attacked! They tried to kill me!" Javoni, whaled pulling up his pant leg to show the nasty bite. "The claws scraped my arm."

Javoni, was being super extra. He always was and as serious as the matter was Tabatha heard Chloe sniggling.

She could not even scold her wolf because once again Richard had saved her ass.

"Zion lets you all run wild and I'm tired of it." He walked over and snatched Richards's warrior badge. "You sir have been deranked. You are permanently barred from your warrior duties."

Gasps were heard all around. Lucas walked over and he kicked the shield letting out the most ferrous roar. Everyone dropped as he growled at the snarling beast. To their amazement, the beast stepped back and looked at the other beast and they all turned and fled. When they looked at the Alpha he too looked shocked. Feeling satisfied he turned and walked away. "Lockdown why are you still standing there? Get that boy to the infirmary!" Lucas yelled.

Tabatha stole a glance at Richard a teardrop had slid down his cheek and it broke her heart. He loved being a warrior and Lucas had not even said what he would be ranked as.

Dedrick and Ryan helped Javoni to the pack hospital. Richard headed home with his head held low.

"What the f**k Tabatha are you crazy?" Zara asked her.

"Thanks for your help guys," Tabatha mumbled as she watched Richards back walking with his shoulders slumped like he had the world on his shoulders.

"I came by the house earlier. I'm going to take a trip to the sea to see if there is any word about Cat." River was saying.

Tabatha's cheeks flushed. She felt like all she did was cry lately. She just nodded and walked away.

'Chloe I feel awful. I wish I could tell them what Blaine said.'

'You can't Tab if they find out you saw him, they won't understand! Nobody will.'

'I know!'

Tabatha mumbled, "Catch you later. I need a shower." She took off running toward her house. Rose nearly crushed her lungs when she came in the door. Tabatha lay her head on her chest as Rose hugged her and cried. She then fixed her some warm tea and ran her a hot bath. Tabatha lay in the bathtub soaking for hours after everything that happened today, Zion losing it after almost killing Blaine, the closure she came to with Blaine, Lucas growling and the Vargis responding to his alpha tone, after everything her mind was stuck on one thing, Richard. He lost his ranking today that he had worked so hard for. She knew what that meant to him. Catori had taken a liking to Richard, his personality had one her over even more unbelievable Azira liked him. Catori once said they had the same humor because she laughed at everything he did. Richard was a goofball. In school, he was the class clown but the thing that made him funny was he was usually serious. He wasn't trying to be funny which is what made him so hilarious. 'Me either' Tabatha sighed heavily. She got out of the tub and dried off tonight she headed to her boy's room and curled up next to them. It felt like she had not seen her little men in forever. They smelled so good to her. She fell asleep but woke a few hours later and found Richard was still on her mind. Crawling out of bed she pulled her slippers on and slipped out of the house, she looked around. In their pack, they had warriors they spent most of the time training so when Mystic went to battle their army was ready, border patrol constantly monitored the boundaries between our pack and others, and police patrol stayed within the pack arresting people that were not abiding by Mystic rules. Most all wolves had some type of special abilities. Tabathas was healing. Zion was able to transport and mind comb which meant if you were not careful he could walk through your thoughts, alpha Lucas could retrace the impression people left on objects by touch. Zara had a lot of different skills, she had a sense of smell that was stronger than most, and she could also blow air cold enough to freeze things, River did not really have talent but he was a hybrid, he had a sea beast and he was a shifter. There were so many different talents wolves can be blessed and often they don't know they possess the skill until it is needed. Tabatha noticed the police were really out monitoring that they stayed in their homes. Tabatha took off running she made it to Richards's house and knocked on the door. He opened the door and looked surprised to see her. "Hey."

"I wanted to thank you for what you did earlier."

Richard wrinkled his forehead at her, "At 2:00 in the morning." A voice said from behind the door. Richard pushed the door open and Amber sat on his couch naked as a jaybird.

"No!" Tabatha frowned and her face turned red. She was super embarrassed now why didn't she mindlink him first? "I'm going to go you to look busy." She laughed uncomfortably.

Richard said nothing just closed the door behind her. She walked back toward her house when she spotted police patrol. She ducked behind a trash can when she caught movement out of the corner of her eye. 'Zara' Tabatha mind linked her.

Tabatha looked at Zara she was super pretty even at night you could see how unique her eye color was. She had dark hair, and she wore heavy dark eyeliner and lipstick. "Come on let's go chill at my place," Tabatha said leading the way.

Zara and Tabatha ate popcorn and laughed it up. Tabatha listened to her go on and on about how brilliant River was at strategy.

"You're really crushing on him." Tabatha finally said.

"Yeah but look at him who wouldn't?" She said Tabatha laughed she remembered when she was so drawn to River she thought he was her mate. He hadn't even noticed her not like that.

"Yeah, it's hot. In a boyish kind of way." Tabatha admitted.

"Exactly but the more I'm around him I get to see why you guys dig him. I really would rather not go there I kind of like the friendship. I mean until you guys I didn't have many friends I was considering going rogue."
