Blaine spent more time in his head than anywhere.
So vividly he recalled that day…
"Calandria will take care of you Blaine," Ophelia said to him admiring again how handsome he was.
"I am not big on fortune-telling, princess. I think I will pass, child’s play if you ask me." Blaine crossed his arms, defiantly.
"Do you not wish to know more of your beginning and end?" Calandria questioned him.
"What is there to know?" Blaine sighed heavily.
"Come with me Demigod I am sure there are a few things I can share with you." Calandria walked away. Ophelia placed a gentle hand on his arm, "Oh it's fun like the Chosen said. Come do it for me." She gazed into his eyes, and he nearly got lost in hers. He shifted uncomfortably and took off taking long strides to catch up with Calandria. They entered a room and she walked around a small table and sat. Blaine imagined there would be a crystal ball and things of that nature but no she simply took a seat across the round table from him and grabbed both his hands she closed her eyes. "Ah, I see there is greatness in your future Blaine. You will be a great ruler." Calandria said causing Blaine to snort obnoxiously. He was not buying into anything she had to say.
"I find the mystery around your beginning as intriguing as your future," Calandria said holding onto his hands.
"There was no mystery around my beginning you must be confusing me with Leigh." Blaine quickly retorted.
"No, but you are tied to her." Calandria pointed out, “This is why you are drawn to her.”
"Tied no you must be mistaken. We are just friends although I will admit she has a great ass." Blaine pointed out.
“She does have a great ass.” The princess agreed making Blaine turn to look at her in amusement.
Calandria opened her eyes to look at them both, "May we please try to focus?" She asked softly, she continued,
"I have not mistaken your majesty this is not your first life but your second and your meeting with the Chosen was fated. Your destiny was written in the stars long before your birth. You are…"
The walls began to shake and suddenly Calandria dropped to her knees and began to pray.
"I am sorry Goddess I am sorry!" Calandria practically began to chant as a mist filled the room.
Maui entered the room angered. She was in the middle of a war when the energy of the Seer came whisking through the heavens.
"How dare you enter this realm without permission. This area is protected. You are to speak of the future not the past, Calandria of Zerion. If you speak of any part of what you saw, I will snatch your heart out and turn you into dust."
The Goddess said unto the seer.
Ophelia grabbed Blain's arms pulling him from the chair she dropped to her knees pulling him downward "Bow Blaine hurry! All praises to you mighty Goddess all praises to you, all praises to you." Ophelia began to repeat.
Blaine dropped to his knees because he too felt a source of power radiating throughout the room.
He could not resist he looked up and felt he was pulled into another realm. There before him stood the most beautiful creature ever, yet he almost felt something maternal for her instead of s****l.
"Hello, Blaine I see your awakening has begun."
"Awakening?"
"Yes, my love I have been watching you son of Heron and Aphena."
"Me why me?" Blaine asked confused.
"Because you are special, now there will be great choices that you will have to make soon. Each choice will lead you in a different direction. Choose wisely. The wrong direction will send you away from the heavens into the depths of hell."
"I don't understand why I am special?" Blaine was bewildered, what the hell is happening he thought?
"You are a small piece of a large puzzle. Right now, you are where you should be but one wrong move and everything changes. Good luck Blaine."
"Wait, my father was Heron the fallen God of war? A disgrace to the heavens?"
"Yes, and a great warrior is inside you as well, go!"
"Wait, who are you?"
"I am Maui goddess of the Sun. That is all you need to know now be gone!"
Blaine sucked in a breath as he rose. Ophelia and Calandria rose as well. "What did you see? Tell me what secrecy is behind my past life is there, who was I?"
"I am sorry I cannot speak on your past; it is forbidden." Calandria was pale and looked upon them with fear in her eyes.
"But why?" Blaine demanded to know.
"I don't know I cannot say more I was threatened." Calandria was visibly shaken by her encounter.
The encounter that Blaine visualized daily, Why me why? Now he knew the answer. He remembered the Goddess Selene holding him as she said "You will be reborn as a gift to my Chosen for all the suffering she will endure. You like her mate shall be a rock. Someone, she can depend on as a friend and then a brother to her you shall be Khrisna. Why did he not see her, why did he not feel her as he did now? The connection so strong pierced through his veins. He thought of the words the Goddess had said to him that day.
"Me why me?" Blaine asked confused.
"Because you are special, now there will be great choices that you will have to make soon. Each choice will lead you in a different direction. Choose wisely. The wrong direction will send you away from the heavens into the depths of hell."
Surely that is where he was hell ruled by a fire f*****g breathing dragon lord. he laughed to himself only Leigh would have a mate so fierce. Yes, he was convinced the devil's name was Kreis.
Blaine always ended up lost in the same place during this traumatic ordeal he found peace and solitude in this one place. Most of the time anyway. When Catori was roaming the land as well. She hated him, despised him. He could feel her anger and disgust. Every time he lay eyes on her. Most days she would torture him too. With images of his failures. He would be enjoying watching the younger Khrisna playing with his siblings then she would come angry at his presence and send him into a whirlwind of turmoil.
"Get up you i***t! Are you going to embarrass me and let that little b***h show you up?" His mother was yelling at him, "You stupid stupid boy! I have been cursed with an i***t for a son. I will never make it back to Zerion at this rate." Although he was now a grown man he still felt small listening to his mother belittle him. He had begun to cry.
That memory seeped away and now he was begging his dad for a moment of time. "Dad, look I have A in all my classes." He said to his father who never looked in his direction. He continued out the door as if he had not even spoken. He had gone into his room lay across his bed and cried his heart out.
He was such a pathetic little kid. It angered him seeing how focused he was on pleasing them when neither ever gave a damn about him."
Blaine quickly found as he walked through the memories of his life that he deserved to be where he was. As he went from memory to memory he realized how much he screwed up. He could not see it, could not understand it but the moment he saw Leigh he was connected to her. Now though as everything came into view he knew. It was their shared blood. She was his sister. He felt odd that he didn't see it before because now it seems so clear. Even Chenoa although she was standoffish toward him over his time he was at Mystic Moon there were times he would lock eyes with her like they were drawn to each other. Even then there was a connection. Now he knew Khrisna was inside him the entire time. Seeking her out just to be sure she too was okay.
His thoughts pulled him back to his safe place. He put his face in his hands and cried. Sniffing he let out a low growl,
"Why are you always here?" He was sitting against the old elm tree that they loved to climb, no one more than Noah. With his legs pulled up. He felt her presence before she spoke.
Catori growled at him"Because you killed me dumb ass!" She snapped as he held his hand to block the sun from his eyes. Cutting between the branches. He immediately dropped his head in shame.
"Why are you always here?" She gave him a wicked condescending smirk. As she jumped down from the tree to turn and look at him. Not before he saw the bruise though, mutilated dead, clumpy flesh where the knife had entered her.
He just rolled his eyes and continued to blubber like a baby.
"Usually when a big strong man cries I feel bad, but you just look like a big pussy." She laughed.
"Shut up Cat! Leave this is my afterlife. Let me have peace in death!"
"No, actually it's mine. This is my place of peace and every time I start to enjoy it here your crying ass comes." She glared at him,
"That is because your mate takes great pleasure in killing me and resuscitating me once a week," Blaine said back to her fuming.
She laughed really hard now, "Kreis is a hotty. Your mate seems to be enjoying him. She fantasizes about f*****g him more than I did. You used to have better taste in women."
Blaine started to laugh but it hurt and he instead let out a painful cry.
"You mean Tabatha," he coughed "the one that f****d Kevin the entire time we were mated. Yeah, she was such a catch."
"Oooh, sounding a little sarcastic there. I couldn't tell you still had issues by the way you were screwing her on that hospital bed. I so enjoyed the pain on Ophelia's face. I wasn't even mad at Tabby for that one, but I am. You are all a bunch of f*****g snakes."
"Cat,"
"Don't call me that," she hissed morphing into a shadow of darkness.
"I will call you that and you will continue to see me." Blaine insisted on not being intimidated by her, she could do no more to him than her mate had already done.
"Why! Why do you keep coming here!" She said in a demonic tone.
"The same reason you do. This is the only place within a time where I actually knew who the f**k I was, and hopefully if your mate does not kill me, you will and my suffering will be over. At least this hell. I'd rather burn in hell on a daily basis than continue to live in limbo this way."
"Oh, that's what this is. I kind of thought so. Dear Blaine, it will never be over, you will suffer like me. Who do you think keeps blowing life into your body every time he kills you? Death would be too easy, you will always miss out on the best parts there," she said, and looking past him a woman came out of the small wooden Cabin they had lived in. Blaine breathed in sharply realizing who it was. "And here," Catori said smiling.
"No Mama, Mama!"
The woman turned to look in their direction and Catori blew breath into his face and once again he was spinning through time. Like something was suctioning him back into the world.
"Welcome back old pal you scared me that time. I thought for sure Kreis had killed you this time." The doctor laughed. Blaine was delusional and his fever was so high the doctor feared if his injuries did not kill him infection would. She started him on another round of antibiotics. And went to explain his situation to the dragon lord. Blaine was in and out of consciousness. He was living in hell.
Aphena could not believe she had ended up here. Locked in a padded room like she was some kind of psycho. I mean sure she had a little blood on her hands. It was an accident though. She did not intend to hurt Ophelia's stupid baby she thought as she lay thinking about her situation. There is always a way out of things. This particular hell was built by the Chosen, warded in the most powerful way against magic. She thought Blaine was simply trying to teach her a lesson and she would only be here a short time. Then the rumors began to circulate that her son had been captured by Kreis the dragon lord. Yet Zerion was still yet to be claimed by the dragon lord which made no sense to her. Unless well he felt there was no need to since the Chosen was his mate. It was time to play dirty. She had been told that her son was being held captive and that just would not do. It made no sense unless he was in a place that was warded as well. What she did know was this was no place for a woman such as herself. after days turned into months with no word. She knew the rumors had to be true. It was time to make moves.
Now how would she go about getting out of this dump? "Chow time!" The guard said as he slid her Trey through the small opening. Aphena walked over and purposely rubbed his hand as she grabbed her trey. He looked up at her and she purposely licked her lips seductively. She was not above using her body to get out of this place.
The guard laughed, "Did you really think that would work? You think your the only attractive woman here?"
Now Aphena chuckled, "But nobody is me. You have made a terrible mistake. Help me now and I will spare you."
The guard laughed even harder, "the Chosen has created this place and it is warded against all power."
"Oh, I don't need power, you handsome i***t. I have prayer."
"Your prayers won't help you here." The guard laughed at her.
Aphena laughed at the guard, "This place is warded but a God can still gain access. 20, 19, 18,-"
"What are you doing?" The guard asked letting his curiosity get the better of him.
"Oh counting down. I try not to call on my love since the incidents 17, 16,15,-"
"What incident?" The guard asked,
"Oh you don't know 14, 13, 12-"
"I would not have asked if I knew."
"Jeesh you people live in the dark ages. 11,10-"
"Stop can you please explain yourself!"
"9 sure Blaine is my son and Heron, God of war is his father."
"But he died! The Chosen killed him!"
"8, she did not kill him 7 she made him explode 6 and that is not death for a God you fool 5 it is, however, temporary insanity. So he is not quite himself yet."
"Wait, are you saying Heron lives?"
"3 he is just a prayer away 2 however I don't like disturbing him. He is a bit of an asshole. He may destroy this place just because, especially if he is napping. Waaa-"
"No, wait!" The guard growled in frustration, "I will help you, damnit I knew I should not have taken this job but no my wife said the kid needs braces." He glared at her, "and you skipped 4,"
"Oh, you barely made it. Smart move you better be glad I am not feeling petty today." She listened for the click as he unlocked the door.
"Now get me out of here, this place is messing up my chakra," Aphane complained
"Wait here I can't walk you out just like that." He left and returned with a uniform, "put this on."
Aphena wasted no time changing. Once she was dressed he led her out.
Once they were inside the guard asked, "where would you like me to take you Aphena?"
"Earth." She responded.
Today was no different than any other day Kreis had found a new way to torture him. Today he had him strapped to a chair, his feet in a bucket of water. "Today I will electrocute you. It was a toss-up between that and drowning you. The doctor insists your body can not take much more. You should have been dead already. I don't understand how you keep surviving."
Blaine for the first time laughed and gave Kreis a cocky smile. "You can't kill me, she won't let me die."
"Who?"
"You know who your mate. Every time you kill me she blows life back into my body."
"Lies, why would she save the piece of s**t that killed her?"
"Oh, I'm not just any piece of shit."
"What does that mean."
"It means just like you have bonded with my mate I have bonded with yours." Blaine laughed, he knew he hit
A nerve when he saw his eye twitch. He was tired of being tortured and taunted he needed to finalize things and this seemed to be his only route.
"Ophelia is a lovely girl your right about that, yet Cat is like no other. There I was following Leigh from dimension to dimension like a lovesick fool. It's because she had something no woman in the world, the f*****g world has. Power in her essence. It Tasted like sweet honey and felt like warm butter. No… yeah cause it's thick yet," Blaine drop his voice a notch "creamy, please kill me so that I can spend an eternity with her…and you can have Ophelia." Kreis snapped he hit Blaine so hard the chair flipped back. He started stomping him. Blaine continued to taunt him, coughing he said, "this isn't working dismemberment perhaps," he said as blood was oozing from every orifice he had.
Kreis was furious, Blaine was choking on his own blood every part of his body ached. Yet he knew when he died, she would be there and she would blow life into him again. "Why won't you kill me you son of a b***h?" These were his last words as he blacked out. This time he was not in his safe place this time it was complete darkness.
This for some reason scared him more than anything. He could accept burning he earned it. He could accept torture but darkness, emptiness. That was too much to bear.
For two days he lay in the same spot in complete utter darkness. Out of reach from Catori or Kreis he supposed because neither came to disturb him which nearly drove him mad.
"Tell me Khrisna what do you wish to be when you grow up?" Dorkis sat across the table observing his son.
"I'm going to be like you daddy," Khrisna said as a matter of fact.
"What does that mean, son" Dorkis asked him smiling proudly.
"Brave I'm going to be brave."
"What does being brave mean Khrisna?"
He looked at his father who sat across from him with a stack of papers that he was studying before him.
"Not afraid."
"Is that what you think being brave is Khrisna?"
"Yeah?"
"Khrisna would you believe I am always afraid?"
Khrisna pushed the carrots around still remaining on his plate. He looked up at his dad. Confusion was written all over his small face.
"But daddy how come you are afraid?"
"Because I love you and I am afraid one day I will not be around to protect you when you need me."
"Oh"
"Being brave does not mean you feel no fear son. Being brave is fighting even when you do."
"Oooh."
"Promise me Khrisna that if you feel fear you will still be brave."
"Will that make you a proud daddy?"
"I am already proud. It will make me prouder."
"I will be brave, daddy." Khrisna slid out of his chair and went to his father who embraced him. Blaine had lay stiff afraid the pain would consume him but now he pushed himself up. He felt everything in him was broken but nothing hurt more than his heart. Alone in the dark, he had nothing but memories.
"It is concerning that during your time in despair. You should find comfort in his words. Not that I was a father to you. I suppose this is why you are so damaged."
Blaine went stiff, "Have you been here the whole time?"
"I have."
At this point, Blaine did not even feel shame at the fact that he had lain in a fetal position crying for days in darkness. He had long since quit caring about what Heron had thought about him. He did however notice in this space how big his fathers voice seemed to be. He felt more like a God in this space to him, almost majestic, "Are we dead?"
"I am healing. You are dead."
"I thought Catori killed you."
"No, but she has been my most formidable opponent. The knife that you stabbed her with is the only thing that can kill a God. Otherwise, we regenerate over time."
"Did you know who she was, Heron? When you asked me to kill her?"
"No, not until just now actually. Makes sense now why you were drawn to their kind."
"I killed my sister."
"You did not you are no longer that boy. Khrisna died and God gave you to me." Heron said spat.
"He did not. Selene gave me life. I remember my creation."
Heron was silent, his hatred for Selene still coursed through his veins.
"Selene is just as bad as her Chosen. She thinks she is the creator playing with people's life. At least her Chosen is dead." Heron spat out. Blaine blinked at his harsh words. He did not even bother to respond. He lay his body down defeated, Yes this was hell. Trapped forever with Heron. It could not get any worse than this.
"Are you ready to be free son?"
"What?"
"Your mother called out to me. She had been locked away in some prison."
Confused at first but then Blaine remembered he was the one that placed her there. "Did you free her?"
"No, she did not want my help." Blaine went stiff as his words sunk in.
"Mother has not a loving in her body. Why would she ask you to save me?"
"I have no idea. I thought it was odd myself."
Blaine could not help but feel sadness as he thought of his son. This man had never given him a moment of time would his son wonder if he was loved?
"Can you do it?" Blaine asked, "Can you save me, Heron?"
"It took me to damn near a year to generate this much power." The God complained,
"Does that mean you do not find me worthy?"
Before Blaine could answer a hand was on his forehead. It felt like the darkness was filled with light. He felt his insides moving around, bones cracking, and he screamed out in pain.
"Aaaah" Blaine called out in pain, "father God help me!" Then he was again consumed by darkness.
"Wake up." He could never explain how f*****g annoying her voice truly was.
Blaine's eyes blinked open. "Ahhh." He groaned covering his eyes.
"Well get up we have work to do." The sun was blazing he closed his eyes tight although he drowned out the sun her nagging voice was still there.
"My God you smell like mutt." She hissed, "this was an unfortunate setback. Definitely altered the timeline I was working on. How are we to explain your absence? I'm sure Zerion has gone to hell. Not like you had much of a Queen to leave behind and rule. Embarrassment captured by a dragon lord, shame!"
"No worse than killing the Queen mother."
"Hmph." Aphena said, "you need to return to Zerion and I have work here that must be done so get up and quit bringing up the past it's unhealthy."
Annoyed Blaine's eyes darted open. "Mother look at me do I look to be in the condition to be making moves? I can barely move."
"Get up. And for the love of God Please cover yourself!"
Blaine looked down expecting to see a bloodied battered body. He sat upright realizing he felt no pain.
"What in the hell?" He said observing himself. "Impossible!" Astonished, he looked around.
"Hmph," Aphena said as he looked over at her. She was stirring a huge cauldron.
"Mother where are we? How did we get here?"
"I flew here you just poofed out of nowhere." She cackled, "you been there all day."
"And you left me."
"I didn't need you until now."
"Need me for what? I knew there had to be a catch."
"Oh, no questions? I saved your ass son and you owe me one."
Blaine Looked around again, "where are we."
"Right outside of Mystic Moon territory."
Just as he said it the sky lit up a beautiful purple hue. And they watched as it spread out creating a shield.
"What the f**k!" Blaine's eyes bulged.
"That was unexpected. Looks like the alpha just claimed these lands."
"You're kidding me you rescued me from an insane lunatic to pass me to another!"
"Stop with the dramatics. Once I finish this spell we can go."
"What is the spell for mother."
I can't tell you. You always ruin my fun." She pouted.
At this point, Blaine was aware his mother's elevator did not make it to the top floor. She was clearly a narcissist and suffered from some type of undiagnosed psychosis. Still, he hated himself for it but he cared for her well-being. "Mother, we need to leave. As long as Chastity has that book at her disposal and Zion is around here with Catori's souped-up steroid powers we are in danger."
"Oh stop being such a p***y! A few bows in your hair you would have been the perfect daughter." Aphena wined.
"Fine you stay and I will leave."
"Blaine the Alpha extended the barrier why we are inside it. We have complete access to Mystic Moon and nobody knows it, think you, i***t. We can find the book. Return to Zerion as admired as the king you should be. The man that defeated the dragonlord and returned the book of Thai."
"I did not defeat him."
"So who shall prove you wrong?"
Blaine thought it over, "for all we know Zerion could be destroyed."
"Take it back it's ours your more powerful than anyone including the mutt he simply got one up on you don't let him get that close again." She simply stated.
She did have one point: they were at an advantage. And with the barrier up they could roam freely, security was surely more relaxed. He needed to see Tabatha.
"So meet me back here in a few hours," Aphena said shewing him away with her hand.
Once he was gone she began to hum and sing happily "lalalala bippity bippity Bip I'm going to catch a witch
And make her my lovely bitch." She cackled she could simply not wait for what was to come.
The ingredients for this spell were complicated but she was determined.
