Chapter 13Saal had not wanted to leave his new pet, so instead of celebrating at a restaurant as Wyatt had planned, the three of them walked down the street to grab food from a taco truck for dinner and ate at one of the stone chessboards in the park that were a hotspot for old men on Sunday mornings. It was pleasantly cool, but not cold, but they’d bundled up just in case. Saalik was so happy with his dog that Wyatt didn’t have the heart to tell him they weren’t allowed to keep pets in the building. But then, maybe they’d eventually be able to find someplace else, and could sneak her in and out of the house until then.
